Yeah. I mean it depends how people view "bust". I view a bust as, at the very least, a first round pick who just didn't live up to expectations. There are levels of it for sure, some more impactful than others. I put Carter in with rgiii and bo Jackson. Injuries derailed a career that could have been great, but we will never know.
-
Carter is a tough one. The dude tore a knee ligament on the third carry of preseason and never fully recovered. He looked terrible after the injury. Basically the Derrick Rose of football... Although Rose actually got to play in the NBA before the injury (I guess Carter was first, so Rose would be the Carter of the NBA technically lol) The rest I agree with you. That's pretty much what the article and video say. An average QB is worth what an MVP RB brings, and with the rookie wage scale, a #2 RB will be making top 3 RB salary in the NFL before playing a down, vs the QB making like 30-50% the going QB rate, so the value just isn't there for taking a RB high, both in terms of salary cap hit and on field impact.

Agreed. So is the article from barnwell that the link is about, but as usual, ESPN imbeds a video that isn't by the article author (though they do give the same conclusion) I actually almost posted this link, then I saw the thread My favorite snippet from the article: "Le'Veon Bell will end up resetting the running back market next offseason, but it probably would take an MVP-caliber season for the Steelers star to get something in excess of $15 million per year. That's what Mike Glennon got from the Bears in free agency last offseason. No veteran starting quarterback on a multiyear deal will have a lower average annual salary than Bell, and he might be the only running back in football making more than $8 million per season." As myself, and many others have been saying for a while, an "average-at-best" QB is worth as much or more than a MVP caliber RB . That's why people will reach for QBs in the draft and FA.

Who do you want the Bills to NOT draft.
SouthNYfan replied to CowgirlsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mason Rudolph. Kyle Lauletta. Riley Ferguson. -
Looks like the next 3 to pass him room be Dalton, Newton, Wilson, don't see many others on the horizon, so he could be top 50 for a bit!! Also, I think today guys are given less chances to succeed, which might be why some of the older guys are still on there, like you have one bad year and it's time for the axe nowadays.

Matt Ryan was sub 60% his final year as well. I'm not saying Allen is Matt Ryan I'm just saying that he was sub 60%.

Better than no shot at all!! -
Was a genuine question btw. Some people think the GM is "McBeane" and don't realize that the GM is Beane and the coach is McDermott, and "McBeane" is a contraction of both lol

Report: Bills Unlikely to Trade Up to No. 2 - Rapoport

Just said this in another thread lol -
Go on the record -do the Bills trade up?
SouthNYfan replied to sullim4's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Me too. NYG won't drop out of top 5-6 picks. They will have to move up to 5/6 then trade up again with NYG if they want #2. -
So fire both the coach and the GM??

There aren't enough pitchforks in the state. I'll be driving my ass up from Orange County. Our fans went to Jacksonville and dominated every table within the city limits... And we were HAPPY. I'm actually scared to see what happens if we don't draft a QB. Like legit scared for Beane and his family. Like witness protection, end of Goodfellas scared.

Did we trade a couple second rounders for Aaron Rodgers? Then I'm okay with it. Then we take a later QB to go behind him and learn. I think this is being completely irrational Sean. Burning the stadium down is letting them off easy.

Why the Bills Won't Trade Up to #2 (or 3 or 4)
SouthNYfan replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
David Khan tried this in the NBA. He drafted 3 point guards in the first round one year, 2009, seen as a draft with a handful of top pgs available. Ricky Rubio #5 (seen as a project) Johnny Flynn #6 (undersized but lots of heart and from a winning college team) Ty Lawson #18 He passed on pgs: Steph Curry (went #7. The warriors practically ran to the podium) Brandon Jennings #10(won rookie of the year) Jrue Holliday #17 (multiple time all star) Jeff teague #18 (all star) A couple of others too It went terrible for the wolves though. Khan thought he could trade the pgs, but everybody knew that you can't start 3pgs, so nobody wanted to pay for them, he wound up being stuck with them. If the browns draft two top QBs, with Tyrod already on the roster, they won't get the same haul they could for say, #4 pick. -
Eagles strike new deal with Nick Foles

So. Based on his NFL menstrual cycle... We would be getting him during the "... He isn't" phase. ?? -
TFW the Draft has jumped the shark...
SouthNYfan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm hoping it's some crazy name thanks they can't get the parrot to say like "barkevious Mingo" or something, so they had give up and say "draft John Smith"
