ABSOLUTELY. I was just saying that as society I think some things are being desensitized, with songs and tv/movies using it all the time, both derogatory and jokingly in these cases, and I think this seems like a case of that. He was using it jokingly and/or quoting a song in the other case, and obviously didn't think of the ramifications of it. Calling somebody the N word (or f*ggot, etc) in a direct, derogatory way is very bad and obviously unacceptable. Using it the way he did seems pretty obvious that he wasn't using it as hate speech, and more like an ignorant teenager who didn't realize how it might affect somebody, even if it was in poor taste. I'm sure the guys in the locker room have never said anything disparaging about other races in their lives.

Jamil Smith's statement is idiotic. This isn't even the same ballpark as Kaepernick. A 16 year old quoting a rap song isn't the same as making a political statement on the field as an adult.

The bolded thing was prob the only one that made me gasp. I was like "oh dude, no, just no" A lot of teenagers don't grasp the concept of that that word really means though, and they've grown up in a world that it's used in mainstream music frequently, same with the N word. The words have definitely expanded their use in society, and while I'm not saying I agree with them, the frequency and instances they have been used in Allen's lifetime has grown to much higher than ever.

Yes. I did. Did you actually read the rest of my post? I saw the nword twice. One was clearly a rap song line, even in quotes. The other one looked like something similar. The tweet to @dictatorhitler is a famous troll Twitter acct that makes really offensive jokes. All things that a moron teenager would post.

The other one I don't know the context but it didn't seem like he was using it derogatory. Christ I'm white as a ghost, and my friend Simon is Haitian, and we joke all the time (he calls me crakka, pastey, massage... I call him darkness, I say "n***a please" to him, etc)... I'm 35 and he's 39. I'm not saying this is exactly what some of the tweets we're, but they seem like that nature. Stop acting like he's posting KKK links and burning crosses in people's yards.

There is probably scumbags doing it right now. Since social media age began, you've got to be careful of anything you do from like age 5. I mean even since smartphones and texts became a thing, people save that **** for years and years now.
