  1. Marrying into that family isn't a sin. You're like a sleeper agent so person dude.
  2. I wanted to draft Matt Leinart so badly... I was so excited when we signed him in 2013, even though he had already proven he was useless... I wanted Austin too!! (Actually still did this off-season... Although that's probably more to do with out terrible roster of receivers than my old residual Austin fanboyism)
  3. Agreed. I like the kid, but let's see how he plays first. I mean, at least this is better than him going Johnny football or something in the off-season
  4. Def agree. A lot of people had him as an under the radar very good FA when he became available. He was behind clinton-dix on their depth chart so I'm not surprised they let Hyde walk, they are both very good, so tough call for the Packers.
  5. Exactly. Which is also why he throws a ton of ints and is wildly inconsistent from game to game. His entire skillset involves chucking it to a reasonably close area, and hoping that his receiver gets it. Sometimes they do, sometimes the DBs do.
  6. Was thinking exactly the same thing.
  7. Are we talking about Whaley or Russ??
  8. I don't disagree with you. My point was he was a "boom or bust" guy with almost all his moves. Nothing was really conservative. The problem was he "busted" much more often than he "boomed" and really was clueless. I was just saying I respect when a guy goes "d*cks out"... Even if he crashes and burns.
  9. "He’s a 6-foot-2, 315-pound nose tackle that struggles to defend the run. According to PFF’s metrics, Lotulelei’s 11 run stops were fewer than all but five of 55 qualifying defensive tackles that played at least 190 run defense snaps. In 2016, he made just four – the fewest of any defensive linemen that played significant snaps in the NFL. Lotulelei ranked 50th of 69 defensive tackles in 2015, 21st of 73 in 2016 and 72 of 79 in 2017." https://billswire-usatoday-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/billswire.usatoday.com/2018/02/22/nfl-free-agency-buffalo-bills-star-lotulelei-panthers-draft/amp/?amp_js_v=a1&amp_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQECAE4AQ%3D%3D#referrer=https://www.google.com&amp_tf=From %1%24s&ampshare=https%3A%2F%2Fbillswire.usatoday.com%2F2018%2F02%2F22%2Fnfl-free-agency-buffalo-bills-star-lotulelei-panthers-draft%2F That's one I just saw when I googled his metrics. I'm optimistic he can turn it around, but not "omg amazing signing" optimistic
  10. Tough to get the ball too a guy when he's not on the field injured frequently. I bet EJ could have hit him on the bench with ease, especially if we put him in a tent ? Yeah Doug was a "go big or go home" guy. He had to go home though. Sometimes you hit home runs, sometimes you strike out. If you strike out too often, especially when it counts, you get benched. The guy wasn't afraid to take a risk. I respected that.
  11. So they've been great and won the SB every year? Some years teams are good, some years they are not. The Bills have not been good more often than not, especially lately. These predictions are made mostly using point differential from the previous season. A negative point diff is the hallmark of a team that isn't good, and I think only 2 teams with negative diffs made the playoffs, the Bills being one. This can be argued that it was skewed by a bad stretch (like the chargers and saints games), but every team has these, so it really evens out. The problem with using last year's negative diff is that it doesn't take into account any off-season changes to the teams, for better or worse, but in general, these point diff predictions are fairly accurate, though every year there are a couple of outliers, with the Bills being one last year. There is a precedent that has shown overachieving teams, like the bills last year, typically regress the following year. 3 wins is extreme negativity, but I wouldn't be surprised if they win 5. I also wouldn't be if they won 9.
  12. Agreed. I think we might take a step back on offense turnover wise, but more TDs could be a strong possibility, which is a good thing, and a net positive depending on how many we get. Biggest thing that people overlook though I think is all our "free agent upgrades" are big question marks. -aj mccarron doesn't need to be explained here, we all know his pros, cons, etc. -Vontae Davis was probably the #2 CB in the league in 2015. He missed all of 16 with an injury, and looked below average last year. Hopefully it was just a blip, but it's very concerning that he could just be done for, and if he plays like last year, he's actually a pretty big downgrade from Gaines. -Murphy hasn't played since 2016, and while I like the signing, and think he will be good, he's another question mark having missed last year -Star was very solid when he last played under McDermott, but almost all metrics had him as one of the worst DTs in football last year, but I'm optimistic that it was a scheme/ coaching issue, similar to Mario Williams under Rex. Again, I'm not being negative, I actually really like Davis, Murphy, and Star, and am optimistic they will all be upgrades over last year's players they replaced, but I'm tired of everybody acting like we signed jj Watt, Ray Lewis, and deion Sanders. (That last part wasn't directed at you btw Kirby)
  13. I linked that and said the same thing you did like 4 pages before copy paste did ??
  14. I don't disagree with you. I just found it interesting that some have said that. Also, I think the confusion was probably due the fact blocking for a guy like Peterman is much different than blocking for a guy like Tyrod. Pocket style QB vs scramble QB. Tyrod masked a lot of terrible oline play with his mobility, although, to be fair, he also caused a lot of issues with holding the ball too long. I honestly don't subscribe to the theory that they let them smash Peterman on purpose, but maybe they felt deflated that their QB was benched and weren't mentally all there. Who knows. It's over. Tyrod was against NO the previous week. Peterman was all time terrible against SD (I refuse to call them anything but San Diego!!) Oline was terrible. Tyrod is gone. The QB competition is real in so much as McD is basing it on what he sees now, not the giant turd Nate laid last year, or the decent play mccarron showed two+ years ago. Go Bills.
  15. Yeah he prob would have hit 8 ints. There is a bunch of chatter that some of the oline purpose of let pass rush through on purpose as a protest of the Tyrod benching. Honestly no way to prove it without a direct admission, but some of those "blocks" looked pretty suspect. Anyway, Nate had a all time bad game. I think I'm not going to write him off on such a small sample size, just like I'm not willing to anoint deshaun Watson all time great after a few games. I just saw this article: https://articles.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2018/06/buffalo_bills_qb_nathan_peterman_is_terrible_at_football_says_adam_schein.amp My fave part: "I could not believe my eyes this weekend when I saw a report that Nathan Peterman--yeah, Nathan Peterman--who threw five interceptions in the first half of his first NFL start (was) still in the mix to win the Bills' starting quarterback job. Wait, what? I mean, first of all, Mike Rodak, who had this story, is a superb reporter. I have a better chance to start in Week 1 for the Buffalo Bills than Nathan Peterman. It's not going to happen. Mainly because Nathan Peterman is terrible at football." I mean he called Rodak a "superb reporter" I think we can agree that invalidates the rest of his opinions ??
  16. We can agree to disagree at what sentiments we see within the posts. My overall feeling is this: -I want Allen to sit and learn, I think that with new OC and system being integrated, they should let the rest of the offense get to running it well before they try to bring him in -based on prior NFL performance mccarron obviously has the lead on Peterman, but it cannot be discounted that he was throwing to a stacked receiver corps, and also that it was 2+ years ago that those performances are coming from, so who knows if he's gotten better or worse since -same can be said for Peterman, that last year was just that, last year, and if he's made strides and objective improvements that the coaches see, then why not give him a shot? -our first half of the season is pretty brutal, so I would rather mccarron or Peterman be the sacrificial lamb over Allen I am in no way a Peterman homer, I just think that if he's looking good in training camp and preseason then he should get the nod in week one, and if he sucks then he sucks, and I feel the same about mccarron. That he did. No disagreement there. At least he didn't throw 8 which is the record ?
  17. Feel free to read the other 40 pages of people acting like Nate is the worst QB in history and seen offended that he might start.
  18. Way to jump to conclusions. Where did I call anybody dumb? People were adamant about Allen not being the target, called all the media stupid for saying the he was the guy the Bills wanted, then, crazy, he was drafted by the Bills. These same media guys are merely saying that Nate has been impressive in this early part of the off-season, and that he has a good shot of earning the starting role, and yet many in this thread just keep gravitating back to how poorly Nate played last year. I honestly don't think he's that great, but I also don't think mccarron is that great either, yet many here in this thread seem to be claiming mccarron is a lock to start, and Nate has zero chance. Those are the same guys who were rambling on about Nate not even making the roster a couple weeks ago, and yet the media seems to think, *gasp*, he might actually win the starting job. Many who are ripping him seem to want him to fail just so they can say "I told you so" which is really, really, really absurd. It's very similar to the guys who seemed like they wanted Tyrod to fail, the ones who want Allen to fail and Rosen to succeed. It seems they would rather be correct and watch Buffalo lose than be incorrect and watch them win.
  19. Who is this "McBeane" and "mcdaboll"? ? Seriously though, I don't know why everybody seems to want Nate to fail. Did he pee in their cereal?? I'm with you man, I hope they are all really good and we have a franchise guy and a good backup. It's funny that so many of the draft experts that everybody ripped for "knowing nothing" had us pegged to trade up for Allen (which we did) and most of them had is targeting him at #5 in a swap with Denver (which we had in play until Chubb dropped) also have Peterman as a very high chance to win the starting job, and yet people are still saying they "know nothing".
  20. I grew up (and still live) about 60-75 miles Northwest of NYC. My father was a federal agent, and was transferred to the Buffalo office 6 months after my parents bought a new house here (I was 4). My mother was a county union nurse, and they had picked the school district for me, so they didn't want to uproot and move with the school, mom's job, and the house being underwater. This was early 1989. My father HATED Buffalo so much, mostly i think because he was commuting 6+ hours (driving up Sunday night or early Monday morning, coming home Friday late), but also hates big snow storms, and hated his boss up there. He did this for 6 years. He hated it with a passion. Hated all things Buffalo. He wouldn't even eat Buffalo wings. Used to complain about hating Buffalo all the time. My father and I have a great relationship, and we have "trolled each other" since I was young. So I thought it best to troll him by saying my favorite team was the Buffalo Bills, so I could wear hats and shirts and have posters that said "Buffalo" on them. Used to drive him insane. I went all in on the Buffalo Bills, figured I should get to actually watching them and such since I was wearing all their stuff. That was my major reason for picking them, to troll my father. **** A couple of additional bonuses were that kicking e in my area, it's all Jets and Giants fans. I hated them both before I even liked the Bills, so it worked out perfectly. Then my best friend whom I met that same year I started following the Bills was a staunch dolphins fan, as was his father. So I grew up watching games with him, watching Kelly and Marino battle for our entire childhoods. Him and I were always fiercely competitive against each other in everything: sports, video games, everything. I'm not sure if it's because of our NFL rivalry, or if our NFL rivalry was just a perfect fit for our friendship. Either way we don't talk much anymore, he lives across country, I'm married with a kid, he's married to a wonderful man (yes, he came out a few years ago, I knew since we were teens) and travels the world with him. We hadn't spoken in nearly a year. He called me up (same cell # since I was 17 haha) after we drafted Allen and said "man you guys can kiss my a**, I really wanted him in Miami. I was hoping draft Rosen after that so we could have a QB rivalry again. Allen is going to be a stud. F*ck the Bills. It was like we never missed a beat! ****
  21. The reason is that mccarron would actually have had to agree to play in Cleveland ?? They traded to get tt because he was already under contract, so he has no choice but to play for the Browns!! (I'm just joking btw, I just thought it was a funny joke)
  22. Sorry I wasn't around to push the envelope!!
  23. Oh sick. I wouldn't be surprised if Brady's face gets ripped off one game on a vicious hit, and we see that he is a t800 model under there. Probably how he was able to throw in the SB with a hand that was split open.
  24. It's like the code word in Manchurian candidate, and activates the sleeper talent. TB12 is actually mental rewiring for this. (Pardon the double quote, can't remove it on my phone, mod can fix it if they want)
