Romo made a career of it too, a pretty solid one at that. People should watch the sports-science bit on Allen. They show that his throwing on the run mechanics, while they look awkward to some, are actually very good from a physics standpoint. He coils his body and launches from his plant foot, generating great velocity (higher than most of the combine QB's generated from a standard plant pocket throw) off of one leg while leaping. He also replicates this over and over again, and shows he's able to do it under pressure whenever he wants. I'm good with it. The kid has a freaking howitzer, and he seems to have a good feel for the QB position, most people forget he has only been playing competitive QB for what? 4 years? (he didn't even play football until he was a Jr or Sr in HS i think) Jesus Christ that was a freaking laser.

Bills trade with Browns for Corey Coleman

Good stuff man. It's not just the NFL. You see it in a lot of jobs/professions. I knew a PT assistant who worked for a friend of mine (my friend owns his own practice). The assistant was a good guy, did one of his unpaid internships at my friend's place as a student, and was hired after he graduated. He needed to work on his craft, to continue to learn, to work hard to be a great therapist. He didn't. He was lazy, coasted, just "got by". My friend fired him eventually, but made sure to have a good, long exit interview, and explain to him why he was let go, and what he needs to work on. He actually took it to heart. 2 years later he came back and asked for a job again. My friend gave him the chance. He's been his best employee now for 2 years running since, and is an excellent therapist. Some people need the wake-up call. -

Yeah I think Thomas is the only one from that entire draft who has been a difference maker, and he was the second round, oh had he has had drew Brees slinging the pigskin his way, so there's that. I don't fault Coleman though, between his injury and being in the Browns (which is probably worse than an injury) I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, especially considering we gave up nothing for him. As of now he's already our number#2 on talent alone, maybe even #1. -

Let's also dig deeper, to the fact that the coaching changes affect the roster twofold. -most coaches want their own "clay" to work with, not the half finished product of the previous coach, so they bring in their guys that they scouted and want -every coach we have had also changed the scheme quite a bit. Look at the defensive scheme. I can't tell you how many times we've gone from 4-3 to 3-4 and back again two years later, just to do the same flip again another year later. Many linebackers and dline are specialized for one type of defensive scheme, so they wind up jettisoned with the scheme change, even if they were a good player -
Bills trade with Browns for Corey Coleman

Fair enough. I will clarify that if we play well and luck doesn't go our way, but Allen and the young core look good, then I won't be too upset. I'd prefer winning obviously, but if it looks like we will be winning a lot in the future I won't be too sad. -
Bills trade with Browns for Corey Coleman

Agreed. The issue with last year was we had some close games that could have gone either way. 9-7 was pretty much last year's optimal. A team that performs identical to last year could easily go 6-9. I'm not concerned with record this year, I'm just looking for improvement from young guys and seeing how Allen looks:) -

I mean technically the question was posed prior to the Coleman trade, so any comments on Jones prior to that trade are now up for debate -

Beane looks like Michael from Burn Notice in that photo. (do we know what was sent back for coleman yet? or did I just miss that?) -
Is Zay Jones A “Lock” To Make The Roster
SouthNYfan replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's a lock because there is no reason to give up on him already. He's on a cheap contract, young, and was a second round pick. Don't just throw him away. Especially with new QBs he might develop a connection with. -
Yes. He had three consecutive solid seasons of over 800 yards with Philly as his first 3 in the league. Then he had a horrible injury plagued season last year with us. I didn't know that one bad season reassess the three prior good ones "What have you done for me lately?" Is a very poor way to judge players. He is 26. He was cut because he had a massive injury.
-
What are you even arguing? Patterson was listed behind Hogan and Matthews on the depth chart, and had between 350-450 or so yards receiving every year but one, he's basically a #3-#4 receiver, which is right where it put him. Matthews had 850-950 or so yards each season in Philly He's a solid #2-#3 guy in most teams in the league when he's healthy, which hasn't been often lately. Pats are cutting bait because of what seems like a pretty significant injury from the current reports. I'm not sure what you're arguing about. I don't think he's a #1 receiver by any means, I was just laughing at the title calling him "#1 receiver" all sarcastically on the title, acting like he's trash, when he's only being cut because he's an above average receiver who looks like he has a major injury, which the pats don't feel like waiting for to recover, since they have absurd receiving depth.
-
He was competing with Hogan and cordarelle Patterson for the top outside receiver. Technically Edelman is slot and gronk is te, but yes, they would be the #1-2 guys with Hogan/Jordan/Patterson getting third on the priority list. Cooks was basically their #3 last year also. Matthews is a solid receiver, so let's stop acting like he's garbage because he was hurt a lot here.

Allen already a factor in QB race ?
SouthNYfan replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I dunno. I'm not expecting much from him, so it won't take much to exceed expectations -
They lost their OC who was a QB guru They won what? 14 games? So yeah they'll probably regress to 12 wins Our QB situation is a complete unknown. Our cb situation might be a mess if Davis doesn't improve. Our oline looks like a mess. Our wr situation is not good, and a complete dumpster fire if kelvins knee doesn't hold up. We have serious questions and could easily be a 4 win team. We also could be a 10 win team if the QB play is amazing. Did you even read the article? Pythagorean wins is one of the best projectors of upcoming wins. We exceeded last year, most likely will return to normal this year. He even said that we are set up for the future but this year looks like a regression while adding in new parts and QB, not addressing WRs or oline, etc. He didn't say we suck, but that we will most likely regress from 9 wins, probably down for 4-6, but be better off in the future.

You were talking about darnold being the "hardest to predict" in terms of boom vs bust, and said you disagreed with that until he held out over offset in his contract, implying that he'll be a bust for doing so. Not sure why that makes him a surefire bust.
-
Seemed to work okay for bosa (although he did miss the first 4 games with a hamstring injury after holding out) he seems to be just fine. Holding out had nothing to do with how good the player will be.
-
Can we add Lamar to that list? This is why early results aren't a good thing to go off of, especially in this case. Allen was regarded as not NFL ready, and needing a lot of work, but a high ceiling. Rosen being regarded as most NFL ready would mean that he most likely will have the most early success, so obviously if he looks better early, it's just an indication that he was NFL ready earlier than the others. Can't infer long term from that.

Khalil Mack holding out... in Buffalo

That works so well for players who want to leave. I agree with you.
