  1. Even Clay's mom has doubts about the credibility of this.
  2. He. Signed. The. Contract. What. Don't. You. Understand? They didn't cut him off at the knees. He cut himself off at the knees. He did it to himself.
  3. 4-12 Gonna be a lot of disappointed fans who think we are a double digit win playoff team.
  4. Did I even respond to that?? You are defending this clown as if he got screwed by his boss. They came to him and asked him to restructure his contract to save cap space, and he agreed to it, voluntarily. Then he had buyer's remorse and acted like they screwed him. Guess what?! Nobody made him sign it. As usual, you take snippets of information to try and prove a point, but you choose to ignore what doesn't fit your narrative. I don't know why I even bother with you anymore.
  5. Way to ignore the rest of the post. Typical.
  6. He. Agreed. To. The. Pay. Cut. What. Is. So. Hard. To. Grasp???? Yep. And they will be sorry if they do.
  7. Isn't he in trouble for that right now with the law? I'm tired of people saying "it is just preseason". Since our oline was not solidified, EVERY guy on that squad (save for maybe dawkins) was playing for the starting job, or at the very least, a roster spot. These were guys who's jobs were on the line to perform, and they didn't, and the only reason they still have jobs is that they sucked less than the guy behind them. They still sucked. That would be a large miracle if they were 'serviceable"
  8. He was going to cost something like $14 mil against the cap if we kept him. Bye Felicia.
  9. How is that even worse? The entire world knew that he wasn't keeping his current deal, and they were either trading, releasing, or reworking his contract. If he didn't, then he was in complete denial.
  10. I loved the fitz joke "it's kind of like travis henry, with frequent flyer miles"
  11. Which is exactly what I said. This entire thread is basically about "we can win with good coaching and feels". It doesn't matter how good your coaching is, there are just some talent gaps that it cannot overcome.
  12. Matt Flynn in GB a few years back comes to mind as a famous one (when he threw 7 tds) 2017: -Goff vs 49ers -Alex Smith vs Broncos -Big Ben vs Browns The reason you don't see it "all the time" is that week 17 is actually a meaningful game for many teams. Even the top teams are typically fighting for home field/seeding in the last week of the season. There was also a reason for Tyrod to be benched, as was said in other posts, that he was fully guaranteed for 2017 season if he was injured, and since the Bills weren't sure if they were keeping him yet, they decided to protect themselves and bench him in a meaningless game. yeah, I reread gunner's post though, HE was referring to 2017, in response to another post. I deleted my response because of that, but you caught it too fast haha.
  13. Your reading comprehension is terrible then. Try harder. No. Sometimes the most talented team wins, other times it does not. There is a talent gap that cannot just be overcome with "good coaching" though.
  14. They did it because if he was injured he was guaranteed the $$ for the following season and they didn't know if they wanted to keep him yet or not. It's pretty simple. They knew manuel and jones sucked.
  15. The NFL is not little league. It doesn't matter how good your coaching is in the NFL, you need a minimum level of talent to compete. The top 4-6 teams are generally separated by coaching decisions (game prep, in game execution, etc) If your team doesn't have the talent to compete though, you just won't get anywhere against the top teams consistently (yes, I know "any given Sunday" applies, but frankly, there's a reason that the house always wins in Vegas, because odds and history favor the talented AND well coached teams over those devoid of talent, even if they are well coached). Coaching gives you an edge and can win against ever a slightly more talented team. Eventually there is a talent gap that cannot be overcome. GOING TO BE and NEXT YEAR are the keys. This year, it's a rebuild.
  16. Okay thanks dude. Yeah franchise tag was initially designed to help a player get paid for a season, while they continue to work out a contract, with the intent of either keeping them long term, or being able to trade them (such as peerless price). Teams figured out ways to abuse this, so i'm sure they are going to rework it next CBA.
  17. He can't play in 2019 if they rescind it I believe, or is that only if he doesn't sign it? (btw I'm with you, good for Bell)
  18. I think speed is very good for long passes. Route running and juke moves are just as, if not more, important. A guy who just runs really fast straight down field is easier to cover than a guy who runs perfect routes down field. Antonio brown is fast, for sure, but he's an amazing route runner, which I think helps him more. If you have great moves, have a good OC who runs all sorts of plays for you (flag, post, curl, slant, outs, etc) and you are good at disguising what's coming based on your moves/route running ability, then you will be open all the time. Good post reddog.
  19. You said "exactly" in response to the Steelers trying to pay him $70 million. That is what you were wrong about. The Steelers were trying to pay him $10 million with up to 70 over 5 years. Big difference. I never told you that you were right. I'm not sure why you are telling me to look up the franchise tag, I know how it works.
  20. Career minimum to qualify is 1500 attempts Tyrod should be on there this year barring a big injury week one He doesn't even qualify single season though since he hasn't thrown enough passes per game any season yet The career list is a mishmosh of good and bad QBs though, so it's not a great metric to use Look at this list: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/leaders/pass_int_perc_career.htm
  21. I think that the NFL banned him from being mentioned ever again, he's like Voldemort in Harry Potter.
  22. Exactly. he's played 62 career games. 81 including playoffs. He's 26 years old.
  23. Don't disagree that there are others with similar things brought to the table, but he constantly brings them every year. I think he's very good, and I think he deserved gurley $$. I think the Steelers we're jerking him around so he is playing hardball back, and they are basically playing chicken with each other. I don't think it's a good look for either side overall, but I generally side with the players, since the owners are notorious for cutting guys at the first sign of decline, with very little player loyalty from most teams.
  24. If i'm not mistaken, he holds the career yards from scrimmage per game currently, with 128. He's better than "good".
