  1. The other way to look at it is they went with the boom-bust home run swings last year, and this year they are going more conservative with their initial picks to help stabilize things Can Ed Oliver play wr?
  2. Or they are leaking interest to make teams think it's a smokescreen?? ?
  3. Zero chance huh? That's a pretty obtuse and ignorant statement. Foster, while promising, hasn't proven himself. He has just as much garbage games as good ones. Beasley is a b+ slot guy, great pickup, but not a OMG BEST WR EVER Brown has been inconsistent at best in his career. Zay Jones is wildly inconsistent. Nobody can cover our guys? This is one of the most honer-filled posts I've seen here in a long time. Put down the koolaid bro. This.
  4. What are they smokescreening? I don't think anybody is trading up to take anybody other than a QB Although when it comes to the draft there's always some ridiculously outlandish draft day move-up that makes people scratch their heads
  5. Oliver Dk Hock That's my 3 I'm happy with any of them and I'm sure one or all will be available at 9 to choose from You don't get it I don't get why some people fall in love with other prospects I think suck We aren't NFL scouts, we don't do this for a living, we just do it for fun Armchair GM's love to point out when they were right on a pick being a boom or a bust They also don't point out when they were incorrect on 15 other picks/free agents I'm guilty of it, we all are Real GM's and scouts don't have the luxury of hiding when they were incorrect The fact remains that even the best GMs are incorrect most of the time If they were always right then the top 10-15 players in every draft would go #1-15. Instead we have guys like Wilson dropping to the third, taken after guys like tj Graham, or teams trading down and passing on mahomes (I was high on him, but I also thought locker was going to be much better) Many scouts love dk many think he's not worth a top pick, but almost every one I've seen has him in the top 3 if the wr class, just depends how high they value the wr class as a whole
  6. I think he was a bit overrated early in his career and now is a bit underrated, though I think the latter is due to people disliking him personally, or the fact that he's had a pretty stacked rb/wr core most of his career
  7. I have about 2 pages of the same discussion in this thread about people going on with the "athletes aren't worth that much" It's a free market/supply and demand. They are paid that because they generate even more income then they for the owners. Your point about what he makes compared to his peers is definitely good too!!
  8. He needs to play for the Panthers for a couple of years But But But Somebody yelled at me and told me he was the best back in Jax and that fournette sucks
  9. Agreed. He is making 22 last year and 27 vs the cap though this year. In the past it definitely helped that his wife was mega rich so he was willing to take below market value
  10. Right but last I checked they just won a SB with him making 22 vs the cap. God I hate them.
  11. Well a cap hit is what matters. I don't disagree he's been cheap compared to others, but currently he isn't cheap since 2018 and 2019 vs the cap
  12. What? Brady is listed at 22 and 27 mil vs the cap for 2018 and 2019 Rodgers is about 21 and 27 mil for 2018 and 2019 This is by both sport Trac and otc What discount? Maybe in the past with a restructuring but currently he's near the top His 2018 and 2019 cap numbers are 22 and 27 million Maybe they still paid him this way but currently he's near the top of the heap cap #wise
  13. Agreed on the top But I'm replaceable, even though I'm great at my job Top athletes aren't replaced on LinkedIn This.
  14. I'm of the firm belief that they won that SB in spite of McCarthy, not because of him. He not a good coach.
  15. Are you telling NFL players who want pensions, guaranteed contracts, and less games in the season to stop whining as well? The NBA players have been trying to find ways to fix it, eliminating back to backs, etc but they haven't been able to come to an agreement with the owners yet. Larger team rotations probably wouldn't work in basketball though since it's a different style of game with a different flow. NFL players for example play one day a week with some rest and practice between NBA players routinely play back to backs and average 3.5 games a week during the season with practice and travel in between. They have very little time for recovery. It's a different type of damage and such on the body than the NFL, for sure, in some ways better and some ways worse. I think my point is that NFL players typically are worn down from repeated traumatic hits, vs NBA players grinding themselves into the ground with repeated running, jumping, driving and falling onto the court without time to recover on the days between. Very different but still destructive to the body. I will agree with you that ANY professional athlete can say it's a hard, tough job, but I also say that's part of why you make millions, because it's not an easy job, so I'm with you there
  16. Good point, didn't even get into that! His Rochester pickup games and job kidding equipment is much tougher though. Obv.
  17. Your point is completely wrong. Your job was not as grueling as the NBA. Your Rochester basketball as a kid was not as grueling as the NBA. The NBA seasons of decades ago were shorter. They played 72 games in the 50s, less prior. The 82 game season became a thing in the late 60s. What decades are you referring to for the greats by the way? I'll start from the 82 game season since it's easier to gauge Kareem played 82 games 5 times in 20 seasons He averaged 78 games a season in his career Bird played 82 only twice, averaging 69 games Jordan 5 times reached 82 games, 71 game average LeBron has hit 82 once, and 74 game average Kobe hit 82 twice, 72 average It's not that much different from "back in the day" Keep trying
  18. Right. Crackpot theory. Let me know when an NFL player runs and jumps up and down a court for 40 minutes straight 3 times a week I never said NFL players were soft or it was easy I said it's a different sport and the NBA take a toll on players bodies as well Pickup games are definitely NBA equivalent And uphill both ways in a blizzard is definitely easy you wuss ??
  19. Let me know when you play an 82 game NBA season in 165 days NFL players wouldn't last a week in the NBA with the constant cardio and jumping for 40 minutes a night 3-4 days a week either You realize that NFL players don't play both sides of the ball right? They get breaks between possessions and many don't even play every down They are different sports They rest because their coach tells them to They wind up with muscle fatigue that leads to injuries Rest prevents that If you think the NBA is easy and doesn't take a toll on player bodies then you are completely lost
  20. Cousins is good Very good imo I think their coaching and schemes was the issue Shurmur drove that offense and they didn't replace him properly
  21. Agreed. I do think QBs are sneaking up into a bigger cap% (I could be wrong) and it's a tough balance to keep an elite QB vs paying the rest of the roster It's even tougher with guys like who you listed who are borderline top tier but just not quite there, but are still very hard to replace
  22. You realize that many times coaches rest their best players to prevent injury They don't do it as it suits them They also play a ridiculously grueling schedule
  23. Oh this tired trope. The owners wouldn't be paying that much if they didn't feel athletes were worth it. Elite athletes generate revenue. They generate more revenue than they are paid. There's a great article on LeBron James from the last time he went back to Cleveland It charted Cleveland and Miami's team revenue with and without LeBron at both destination s They showed the correlation the immediate impact of losing and gaining him on each team was over $75million net profit/loss I'm sure the Lakers and cavs would see similar numbers from last year. I'm sure you have some moral rant that nobody is worth that much, but guess what?? Tickets, marketing, advertising, etc all generate that much money for a team/ owner. If you are so morally against athletes earning that much $$ the only way to stop it is stop supporting professional sports by boycotting ESPN/etc coverage, all forums, games, TV game broadcasts, merch and such. If you are still involved and following a team then you contribute to the ever rising $$ they make.
  24. I don't know if he'll get that heavy but he will be close The only mlbs I can think of that were his size that I remember, at least in modern game, urlacher, seau, Thomas, Lewis I think urlacher played in the high 250s Lewis , seau, and things around 250, give or take It takes a special athlete to hang MLB at that weight, and Edmunds is the most athletic gifted of them all Let's hope he develops his skills to go along with it!!
