  1. Where do you get a "95%" chance he's okay, and a 1% his career is over? Labral tears are very, very bad. Brees was a miracle, and even the MD said he was the most miraculous recovery he's ever seen, and was surprised he could throw again. Luck's shoulder was in worse shape than Brees because he played an entire year, shredded or more, and has missed over a year since. I wish him the best, but his shoulder is a live grenade.
  2. That's fair
  3. Fair enough on his floor. Cheap third stringer? Expensive towel boy? I still think it's too early for us to just cut bait with barely any real playing time to go on. Let's not forget the rams benched kurt Warner after his 6 fumble game (No I'm not saying he's Warner, I'm not an idiot, I'm saying that one game isn't worth cutting a guy over)
  4. The colts aren't going to pay draft capital and $18 mil to Smith for a year. They already owe luck $25 mil whether he plays this year or not If they draft a QB they have zero faith in luck's shoulder. i don't disagree with anything else you said.
  5. Because there is no way you can call him a "dud" based on less than a game of time on the field. His playing time outside of the chargers half was actually decent, including a must win game vs Indy in a blizzard. I have no delusions about what he is, a 5th round project who should be a solid backup at worst, an average starter at best. I definitely don't think we should bet the farm on him. I definitely don't think we should just throw our have up and give up on him either.
  6. He looks like a high school QB. 3rd round at best in a reach, backup material.
  7. That's fair. I mean I think he should realize that, although who knows, right?
  8. I was arguing that he might play out the year and walk if we draft a guy, so he has some control of his future, rather than sign, then get traded in a year or two if we have a young guy
  9. I don't disagree My point on him having 1 year left was that it's short sighted to trade for him and not draft somebody since he will most likely be gone after a year, so we are basically trading for a 1 year rental
  10. Smith is gone from the chiefs They are over the cap or real close and he's making $20mil this year. The issue is they will probably try to trade him (and succeed) before they cut him
  11. Agreed with you on Smith I think you were agreeing with me and just adding to what I said though
  12. Agree 100% If we get him I want an agreement of 2-3 years before the trade
  13. Again, he only has 1 year on his deal. My point is even if we get him, why would he sign a "2 year bridge gap" deal after his history? He wants a better contract than that. I think the broncos get cousins, but would be in the running for Smith if they don't. Agreed the cards are a legit contender for Smith though. Jags are interesting. Bortles is very streaky, but only 25 years old They have a 5th year option on him. Khan said he's their man, so who knows.
  14. Yeah that was pointed out (I missed the Superbowl party) I disagree with you on that statement, but they definitely weren't one of the strongest, so apologies for misreading your statement about them
  15. Fair enough. My point earlier was that Smith was forced out by 2 other younger QBs, and only has a year left on his contract if we trade for him. If we draft a QB he's most likely not going to sign an extension. If we don't draft a QB then we are betting on 33 year old Alex Smith to be the guy for the next 3-5 years, hoping he will sign. I wouldn't bet on Smith long term, and he's not signing an extension if we draft a QB.
  16. Calling that Ravens team the "single worst team I have ever seen" instantly ruins your credibility. Flacco had literally the greatest postseason QB run in NFL history, capping it off with 3 tds against one of the best defenses in the NFL.
  17. Smith has one year left on his deal Who says he will re-sign if he knows we have a QB in waiting? He was forced out by kaep He was forced out by mahomes I don't think he wants that again Unless we sign him long term he's not gonna be more than a year That's why I wouldn't risk not taking a QB if we have a chance at a guy we like Nate has potential, but I'm not willing to bet the next decade on "Nathan Peterman and maybe Alex Smith will re-sign"
  18. Suddenly boosting a guys draft stock based on his performance in a game where they aren't allowed to blitz? Almost as bad as the bucks bumping yi jianlian in the NBA up their draft board based on his workouts in person posting up and dribbling around chairs. Reaching for this guy any higher than 3-4th round is a mistake. Mike white?
  19. I would be okay with any of that, as long as we get another rookie to groom behind Smith
  20. Except the Packers took Rodgers with favre still under contract for another couple of years. Pitt took Ben with Stewart and Maddox under contract Nobody really though Pitt would take Ben. Don't just assume somebody won't take your guy.
  21. Keenum is a free agent. I'm not sure what "trade for keenum" means. I don't know why anybody wants luck. Do a little research into his shoulder injury timeline. If the colts are willing to trade Luck then his shoulder isn't stable. You don't trade a franchise QB if you're sure he's healthy.
  22. Agreed again. Similar with Allen and Mayfield. Mayfield didn't play great, but so what, one game, I don't think he hurt his draft stock. Allen, same thing. He's raw and streaky, so one game shouldn't change perception. He's a huge risk with a huge ceiling and a very low floor if he tanks. They are all the same as they were before this game.
  23. Holy crap we agree on something I heard the Bills' front office has a job for you, since you seem to be on the same page as them!!
  24. Why would we be trading down? Your name is "simpleman" yet your post is anything but that. Seriously though, trade down?
  25. Well Kim Pegula signs his paycheck, and she publicly sent her well wishes and condolences to him. You seem more upset than she is. There was a stipulation in his contract that retirement due to injury was left solely up to the team doctors, that a player couldn't choose to retire based on injury unless the doctors cleared it (as well as the player couldn't choose NOT to retire if the Dr said he had to) Unstable vertebrae or disc herniations could be fixed, but the more I think about it, he probably had some spinal cord lesions/damage from years of playing in the trenches. The doc probably said that he's one bad hit from being paralyzed or dead. You are angry? Why? So we eat 10mil in dead cap space. Who cares? This man, by all public accounts a very good man, who is a recent father of a newborn, who has given his body to the football gods, is walking away, and able to (hopefully) lead a happy life. These players, especially linemen, get their bodies destroyed. They have some of the most beaten, bruised, and smashed up bodies of any position in any pro sport. They carry damage throughout their whole lives, pain they will feel until they die. I for one am glad for him that the danger was found now and not before he ended up strapped to a body board at OBD, an entire stadium silent, hoping he will be okay. Instead he is going home, getting to hold his wife and new baby. Good for him. Shame on your for being angry about this, towards him. Reevaluate your life and priorities sir.
