Hate to say it...Tyrod will be back
SouthNYfan replied to Hebert19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Except you cannot say it's a total win (or failure) yet. A franchise QB is worth much more than a lockdown corner, that's just a fact. Ask the Jets how many Superbowls "Revis island" got them too while the Sanchize was taking a dump behind center. a great qb also tends to have a longer career. The bills have a habit of drafting great CBs then letting them walk, so if white isn't kept long term (assuming he stays legit top tier) then it's still a flop move. If mahomes turns into a top 10 QB and we don't get a top10 QB from either FA/trade or draft this year, it was a flop. Many agree that mahomes has a ridiculous ceiling so if he blossoms, we look like morons, unless we get a stud too. Too many variables. -

He's a Tyrod homer. Don't try to use logic on him. -

Except cousins has 3.5 seasons starting with very good numbers, so I'm not sure where you think that's an "untested veteran" -

If you think cousins is anywhere in the same ballpark as osweilwer you need your head examined. Is cousins the best QB in football? Nope. Is he top 5? Nope. Is he a top 10 QB, turning 29, available for nothing but $$ (no draft picks/players traded)? Yep. Osweilwer wasn't even a top 15-20 QB when he was a free agent, nobody thought he was. Every single team overpays for the top FA available. It's how an open market works. When it's a young QB without an injury history, his $$ will be magnified. The fact that you think he's as terrible as osweilwer is absurd. -
Depends if their GM is fired before then, when the owner realizes they traded for Tyrod
-
Can we trade him for a box of donuts? Can we just give him away? Solely because it saves $6-8 mil in dead cap

I would say Winston is very good, and still could be a star, but yes, after 3 years, he could be better I would also say the same for Marcus. They aren't legit stars yet, but they are both very good and young, and not even in their primes -

If he likes us, and we are offering $27-30 mil, vs $31-33 elsewhere, I think we have a shot. If somebody goes crazy and offers $35mil no way he gives that up -

Especially with kelce, hunt, and hill. That offense is loaded. -

Or maybe they felt Alex Smith was worth the $23mil a year vs $30+ for Kirk? They aren't being paid the same. Again. If you honestly believe Alex Smith is better than Kirk you don't watch football. You can say "I'd rather pay Smith $23 than Kirk $30+" which is a fair statement. To think that Smith is an upgrade or even equal though is just absurd. Your argument is that the Redskins front office and ownership (who do not have a good track record) assessed cousins as not worth it? What about the chiefs and reid who have an excellent track record assessing that Smith wasn't good enough to keep? -

I love when people say things like that. Alex Smith has had a stacked roster. He is awful when his TE kelce has missed time. What do you even mean by "situational football"? You can't just make up terms. If you don't think cousins is a significant upgrade over Taylor then again, I'm not sure you watch football. -

I'm not sure about Jax. Khan said he's sticking with Blake, but who knows. Jets and us are probably a tossup, part of that cap space is because of a bad roster. If we can come close to the Jets I think he'd pick us. The rest I agree with -

I agree with that overall I think we are #3 behind Denver and AZ for him Like quite a bit behind them I'd put 80% that it's Denver or AZ 15% Buffalo 5% anybody else If you think the Redskins are better with Smith than cousins then you haven't watched either of them -

Remember this post when cousins is throwing 4000 yards and rolling into the playoffs next year with Denver/az/Buffalo, while Smith is struggling to win 7 games in Washington. -
Why? If you land cousins there is zero need for this Cousins is 28, and has proven to be durable. He'll be 29 in August. Any Kirk deal will have to be minimum 4 years, most likely 5. Why reach and waste #21 on a QB who won't ever see the field for a least 4 years. Hell, they are contenders next year when Grandpa tom breaks a hip trying to do the Charleston on the podium at the Superbowl victory party next week

So the former GM of the skins likes a guy he drafted? Crazy. So the former GM of the skins criticizing the team that fired him? Crazy. I know, right?? -
Have you ever been less excited for a SB?
SouthNYfan replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why do you think he's riding off into the sunset?? There's no way they trade Jimmy G if there was even a whiff of him retiring. I don't think the game is scripted, though I do think that the refs love the Pats and the league doesn't seem to care about the bias. I would love to see the eagles win. I'm from lower NY (hence the name) and I hate living in Giants and jets country. My most hated teams are: Pats, Giants, Jets. Hands down. Nothing would make me happier in regards to this game than the eagles winning, thus beating the pats AND angering every Giants fan. -
That was my point earlier I don't care who cousins is as a man He's not taking $20mil a year vs $28-3$ a year
-
I'm sorry but you are completely lost if you think Tyrod is even remotely the QB that Kirk is. Fair on all points. I think Denver is much better, but maybe it's just recent perception, and I'm with you on Joseph being "meh" I see your point. I still don't agree, but it's not as far off as i might think it is. His former GM just sounds full of salt because he got fired.
-
Agreed My point was they'd spend the entire open cap on him, leaving the team full of more holes. If he wants a winning team, why go somewhere you know your contract will wreck them? Truly wanting to win he'd sign for $20-25 a year and give his team flex
-
Fair enough points. I've read a ton on cousins, I totally get your point. I still don't see us ahead of Dever or AZ, but let's stop arguing about that. I'd be happy with him. I just don't want to put all our eggs into his basket as there's a very real chance we don't get him, even if it's equal between us, AZ and Denver that's a 1/3 shot
-
Except we only have $31mil in cap space, and need to sign Gaines and a couple others Even if we cut tyrod, that puts us at what? $40mil? We'd need a massive backloaded poison pill contract with huge guaranteed money to get him.
