Except once teams hit 3pi, it would go back to the "Chuck and aim for pi" bs the pats do again, just delayed until later in game, and it would encourage them to try for pi more often earlier in games to get into the "penalty" Exactly what I was thinking. If anything, this is what it has to be, or along this line. Otherwise, if it's just a flat 15 yard, it'll turn into the NFL version of "hack a Shaq" when they would just hard foul Shaq , taking their chance at him and his terrible sub-50% free throws instead of his 75%+ fg chance to close. I can see it now in the film room with belicheat Bb: "Okay , mccourtney and Chung, see this play? Where Gilmore gets torched on a deep post by Julio Jones? Next time you see ANYBODY gets any separation on the DB I want you heading over to smash him before the ball gets there" Chung: "but coach, that's a 15 yard penalty" Bb: "better than a 40 yard completion. Make sure he doesn't catch it. Lay him out" .... Only problem with the "levels" of the penally is it's one more thing for the refs to have "judgment" calls on... We all know how well that works out...

Preston Brown thinks he can help the Patriots

He's been hanging out with LeBron and Kevin Durant -
Agreed dude. He isn't amazing but he's a damn good wr when healthy Anyway I'm stoked about Davis!!

I quoted the original post I was referring to, when I told somebody to "learn to watch football" Claiming he was "outplayed by kupp" because kupp had better stats at the end of the year I was pointing out that Sammy was very important to that offense, moreso than kupp, even if the end of year #s didn't show it, and most of kupp/woods #s came from Sammy (and gurley obv) spacing the field I don't disagree with what you're saying that he might not have lived up to the full potential that they wanted, but my point was to act like he was a lesser impact on offense than the receivers whom he opened up the field for based solely on end of year yardage/receptions was completely false if the people actually watched the film. Sammy was a very key part of the #1 scoring offense on the NFL He was a bigger part than kupp No he wasn't on obj/brown level, but he wasn't the hot garbage hyperbole people make him out to be

Random Bills and what you remember them for
SouthNYfan replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Marshawn Lynch for... Like... Everything... Applebee's / Dave and Buster's specifically Oh and his run-ins with the law Massive contusion. Things/quad contusions are crazy because of the size of the muscle belly, typically lots of pooling blood, oh and they hurt like a sonofabi*ch for months. Watt could 60" box jump Yeah, look up the video The dude's legs are massive -
Look shady, he never ceases to pull through with the emoji.

Christ stop defending him We made the playoffs in spite of subpar QB play

Sam Darnold not throwing at combine
SouthNYfan replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why? All signs point to them both being top5 if not #1 and #2 Other than a year of conditioning, what's it going to change? For Rosen, just means he might get hurt again and drop his stock. I mean, unless you mean that the browns are #1 overall, so it would avoid them, although they are almost always top5 lol -
Maybe I was a little brash, but my point in defending Sammy was people speaking like he was trash and did nothing. I don't think it's a coincidence that the Rams changed coaches, and added watkins, woods, and kupp and turned into the #1 scoring offense (from #32 the previous year) If they let Sammy walk, we will see who they replace him with, and see how their offense looks without him. My point was that he isn't the hot garbage people think he is, even if I was a little harsh in my way of going about it.

The production is there in the case. Stat sheets for a single player do not show their true worth many times. It's one reason why a player with seemingly worse statistics wins an MVP, or why you can't build a team based on fantasy football statistics. Claiming Watkins was a worse wr than kupp based solely on his statistics is absurd, and proves my point that, in this case, I am positive this person did not watch any footage/games with Watkins on the Rams. He drew double coverages on the outside, would be stacked next to kupp and draw the double on a deeper slant, leaving kupp wide open underneath. The Rams system rotates receivers though multiple positions on the field and doesn't focus one guy. I actually provided a very good article which breaks down exactly how valuable Watkins was to them, that it's beyond box numbers. I'll use the Bills as an example, 2002 eric moulds and peerless price had almost identical yardage, with price having a higher ypc. Moulds was a legit #1 who drew doubles, price had it easy on the other side. He went to Atlanta and was barely average. Why? He didn't have anybody to draw coverage. A top talent wr eats coverages, leaving the other guys open. That's a fact. If you don't know that, then you don't watch football, or don't know what you're watching, which proves my statement of "learn to watch football" Has to do with facts, not ego.

Exactly my thoughts. Similar to the talk about Watkins. Letting a free agent walk doesn't mean you don't want them or that they aren't good. Sometimes they cost more than you'd like to spend/have available cap Sometimes they don't want to stay
-
Do a little research and to why they might let him walk Their offense design might not require a #1 receiver (similar to how the pats have been for years) which I explained above. That doesn't mean that a receiver like Watkins doesn't impact their offense more than a lesser receiver would. Pats tossed moss when he was still putting up #s for him. The Rams might but feel that Watkins is worth the $$ he's going to command, in regards to their offensive scheme, and are going to franchise another player. A team letting a player walk doesn't mean he isn't good or that they don't want to keep him. We are probably letting Gaines walk, do you think he's not good? Cost of a factor. Teams let players walk all the time, does that mean that every FA that walks isn't good? Why would another team ever sign that player?!
-
Learn to watch football. Watkins stretched the field for them and drew multiple players in coverage. He's the reason kupp and woods had so much free space. A player's impact on a game goes far beyond just the stat sheet (this goes both positively and negatively for many guys, such as tyrod holding the ball too long lowers his ints which looks good on paper but actually isn't that great during a game) Watkins helped that offense tremendously . Feel free to read this link below from a Rams' analyst, instead of a from the perspective of a Bills fan who probably didn't watch a single Rams game. https://www.turfshowtimes.com/2017/11/29/16712132/los-angeles-rams-nfl-sammy-watkins-tape-study-scouting-report He has another article that he's not sure the Rams offense scheme requires a true #1 wr, so they might still let Sammy walk, but that's not because of his talent (For the record, I am not upset we traded Sammy, as Gaines played great for us and we have another second round pick this year from it. To act like Sammy isn't an impact wr though is just wrong)
-
Yeah since this looks like Gaines is gone, we basically traded Watkins and a 6th rounder for a 2nd round pick (#55?) I mean the question is would Watkins have stayed with us if we hadn't traded him?
-
that's a fair assessment i'm hoping does prove it, likes buffalo, and we can sign him to a couple more years i don't see gaines staying for the $$ he's projected though
-
hopefully if he does prove it, he likes it here, and we aren't paying norman $$
-
i'm a little bummed it's a 1 year "prove it" deal what if he does "prove it" do we pony up top $$ for a 31 year old CB? i would have preferred a 2-3 year deal with heavy incentives i also don't think we can keep gaines now, he's looking to be 4/$25-37 mil projected davis is not going to enter this deal expecting to be a #3 corner, which means we'd be paying gaines top 15 CB $$ to be our #3
-
i'm with Doc on this one. sporttrac has him projected at 4 years ~$38 mil overthecap has him projected at 4 years ~$25 mil i think 4/$25-28 is fair for him, given his injury history the issue with playing time/production incentives is that he will be the #3 corner on the roster behind white and davis that's just a fact (at least going into the situation) that means you're paying a #3 corner top 15 money, trying to calculate incentive triggers for somebody who isn't even a starter i'm a little bummed it's only 1 year
-
this happens with every FA, draft prospect, whatever. "JUST DRAFT PLAYER X" (except he's gone before we get to him/nobody willing to let us trade up) "JUST SIGN PLAYER Y" (except he costs more than we think he's worth/more than he is worth/don't have enough cap space) this isn't madden with the salary cap turned "off" you need to make smart decisions regarding what players to keep/what players to let walk i would love to keep gaines, but not @ $9m/year
-
More of a fact than anything I think. I'll take Davis every day over EJ.
-
I didn't read the whole thread, where was he disrespected? (Honest question) Is it because of the Davis excitement??
-
Let's rock baby. He was angry and felt "disrespected" when the colts demoted him. I hope he's hungry and plays his @ss off.

I feel like the patient has already bled out at this point With you 100% my brother. I have a pile of texts to my friend last year about Watson as well. I was not very happy we didn't draft him. Even more unhappy when he started trashing defenses.

All the reasons to draft Josh Allen...
SouthNYfan replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I actually like Allen in a sense that he has an incredible ceiling based on his physical tools. The issue with him is, as is almost always the case, those guys just don't have some "switch" that flips and they turn into the second coming of QB Jesus. They typically kick around the league for a few years, floating from team to team, until they get their third, fourth, and fifth shots, then flame out when teams realize they can't even be a backup. Allen seems to have a good head on his shoulders though, where most of these guys don't, so that's a plus for him.
