  1. Amen .. and he was gone after this year ... 100's of posts on who's better Sammy or Matthews ... come end of the year .. we get a comp pick for a guy leaving town ... Beane beat the house odds with this move .... let's quit comparing YPC (when on the field there is no question who is better) ... but a bad analogy is .. I can go to an expensive restaurant and get a good meal only 50% of the time (i.e Sammy) ... or I can go to a place slightly cheaper but much more consistent ... I'll take the consistency over the coin flip ... he's gone and/or was soon to be gone and we got value in return.
  2. I kind of agree ... give Tyrod till the bye week .. if we're doing good .. keep rolling .. if under 500 ... throw in Nate for the rest of the season
  3. Wow a little more love this afternoon ... NICE to hear ... again it's only 2 quarters .. but Richie's a fan ... Happy's a fan from practice ... Gruden's a fan from Gruden QB Camp .. I'm a fan from Thursday .. so there are at least 4 people who like Nate in this world
  4. So under your theory and showing my age here .... The Eldest Duck Dynasty Phil Robertson who beat out Terry Bradshaw at Louisana Tech should of been Joe Montana. Or the fact that Tom Brady sat behind Brian Griese and the illustrious Scott Driesboch his first two years (ala Peterman's first two years at Tennessee before transferring to Pitt) and was drafted in sixth round ... again all I'm saying is like any other pick .. its a lottery ticket.
  5. I think for good reason on Goff .. .especially considering what LA gave up to Tennessee to move to #1 from #15 ... and they could of chosen Goff or Wentz.
  6. From the prior 1st rounders (2016 and 2015 aside) given their limited time in the league .. who else on that list is "dismissed" dating back to 2009?
  7. So what below shows is a couple of things ... last year aside (still too soon For Goff and Wentz) .. but unless you have the overall #1 (Winston, Luck, Newton, Stafford --- no SB wins between them) ... you don't have a great chance of landing a NFL caliber (long career QB in round 1) .. that's a 8 year lookback ... that's 19 QB's prior to last year in Round 1 (9 of which in top 10 picks) ... with the hype train in full motion those years as it is every year with QB's ... 9 of 19 are starters ... so less than 50% hit rate and 6 of 19 no longer playing ... 33% basically. Contrary ... I'll take the QB's 2nd round and beyond in the last 8 years ... Carr, Wilson, Prescott, Cousins although greater than 8 years (some guy named Brady in the 6th) .. another guy named Brees. My point is unless we trade to #1 and get OUR GUY ... then not sure what all the craziness is about in the 2018 QB class .. see list below from WalterFootball.com .. yes I like Darnold and maybe Allen if in fact Big Ben comparison is true .. but again unless we grab the #1 (which I don't think we will) other teams will grab those guys before us. As below clearly illustrates ... every draft is a crap shoot ... guys much smarter than all of us football wise have crapped the bed on draft day. 2016: 1. Jared Goff, California, Rams (Does anyone on the Bills really want Goff??) 2. Carson Wentz, North Dakota State, Eagles 26. Paxton Lynch, Memphis, Broncos ___ 2015: 1. Jameis Winston, Florida State, Buccaneers 2. Marcus Mariota, Oregon, Titans ___ 2014: A BANNER YEAR 3. Blake Bortles, Central Florida, Jaguars 22. Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M, Browns (no longer in league) 32. Teddy Bridgewater, Louisville, Vikings ___ 2013: 16. EJ Manuel, Florida State, Bills (Enough Said) ___ 2012: 1. Andrew Luck, Stanford, Colts 2. Robert Griffin III, Baylor, Redskins (really) 8. Ryan Tannehill, Texas A&M, Dolphins 22. Brandon Weeden, Oklahoma State, Browns (really x2) ___ 2011: 1. Cam Newton, Auburn, Panthers 8. Jake Locker, Washington, Titans (no longer in league) 10. Blaine Gabbert, Missouri, Jaguars (3rd team) 12. Christian Ponder, Florida State, Vikings (clipboard holder) ___ 2010: 1. Sam Bradford, Oklahoma, Rams 25. Tim Tebow, Florida, Broncos (no longer in league) ___ 2009: 1. Matthew Stafford, Georgia, Lions 5. Mark Sanchez, USC, Jets (butt fumble) 17. Josh Freeman, Kansas State, Buccaneers (no longer in league) Conversely here are the preview of round1 2018 QB's per Sam Darnold**, QB, USC Height: 6-4. Weight: 225. Projected 40 Time: 4.78. Projected Round (2018): 1. 7/17/17: Darnold was very impressive as a redshirt freshman in 2016. Sources say that while they haven't studied Darnold extensively, he jumped out at them as being a potentially special quarterback. Darnold completed 67 percent of his passes in 2016 for 3,086 yards with 31 touchdowns and nine interceptions. He has size, a strong-enough arm and accuracy, plus led USC on a nine-game winning streak to end last season. There is buzz of him being a No. 1-overall talent at the position. Team sources say that the early feedback is that Darnold has good intangibles as well. image: http://walterfootball.com/college/Wyoming_logo.gif Josh Allen*, QB, Wyoming Height: 6-5. Weight: 222. Projected 40 Time: 4.75. Projected Round (2018): 1-3. 7/17/17: Allen became a discussed prospect late in the 2016 season, but he wisely decided to return to Wyoming. He has a good skill set, and some draft analysts were projecting him high in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft, but one general manager told WalterFootball.com that he had Allen as a third-day prospect and thought Allen should improve before going pro. Scouts from other teams say they think Allen is a top-of-the-draft prospect and compare him to Ben Roethlisberger, so Allen could end up being a love/hate prospect. There is no doubt that he has superb physical talent to be a starting quarterback in the NFL. In 2016, Allen completed 56 percent of his passes for 3,203 yards with 28 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. image: http://walterfootball.com/college/Louisville_logo.gif Lamar Jackson*, QB, Louisville Height: 6-3. Weight: 205. Projected 40 Time: 4.57. Projected Round (2018): 1-3. 7/17/17: Jackson set college football on fire in 2016 while winning the Heisman Trophy. He was a massive point-producer for the Cardinals. Jackson completed 56 percent of his passes for 3,543 yards with 30 touchdowns and nine interceptions on the year. He also ran for 21 touchdowns and 1,571 yards while averaging six yards per carry. Jackson has a good athletic skill set, but will need to show more accuracy and pocket-passing skills in 2017. He also faces some size concerns and needs to add weight. Teams do feel that Jackson has a ton of athletic ability and upside to grow. He also has gotten good early reviews for his character, leadership and toughness. image: http://walterfootball.com/college/UCLA_logo.gif Josh Rosen*, QB, UCLA Height: 6-4. Weight: 210. Projected 40 Time: 4.75. Projected Round (2018): 1-3. 7/17/17: Rosen completed 59 percent of his passes for 1,915 yards with 10 touchdowns and five interceptions over his six games of 2016 before being sidelined by shoulder surgery. Rosen is a pocket passer, but there is already talk that his character and leadership are lacking. Some team sources have told me that Rosen is disliked by a lot of teammates. Rosen had an impressive debut as a freshman, completing 60 percent of his passes for 3,670 yards with 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He showed off a powerful arm and the ability to be an NFL pocket passer. While Rosen has gotten a ton of hype, the same thing happened with Christian Hackenberg after his freshman season. Thus, Rosen still has more to prove as a junior to be a high first-rounder. Read more at http://walterfootball.com/draft2018QB.php#QuCyfEcmsYR5lR2z.99
  8. Look .. I'm not saying he's Brady ... but he also had a 3 - 4th string OL in front of him ... and 3rd/4th string WR / RB's .. and moved the ball .. so yea maybe he's the "tallest midget" for the game .. but he didn't tank ... I think its something to build upon ... we'll see next week .. if he sucks it up then he may well be a clipboard guy .. if he builds on it and does a little better ... maybe some on this board might .. maybe just might give him some sort of props (i.e. - Gruden QB Camp).
  9. Please look at the Carolina Panthers record since 2003 and the fact that Beane was there for 19 years ... 5 division championships and 2 SB appearances ... THERE IS NO PLAN ... seems somewhat overdramatic ... so the Panthers lucked into their playoff slots without a plan ... Please
  10. Kirby ... I agree with your take on Matthews / Gaines not particularly being upgrades ... but Sammy only played in 8 games last year and in those only had 4 receptions go over 20 yards .. .so no I don't think he was the over the top threat that led us leading the league in rushing .. he wasn't there 50% of the time and the other 50% he ran on one leg last season.
  11. Holy Crap .... Lighten up Francis .. Pegula saved the Bills for Buffalo ... You wanted Bon Jovi's Toronto Bills or Trumps LA Bills ... also let's give Beane a chance ... Carolina has a much more successful run than us since 2003 ... 5 Division Championships and 2 SB appearances .... versus blowhard Rex and Whaley's history of drafts .... we only have 14 players left ... I truly believe some people on this board should stop watching / rooting for the Bills ... yes you can have differing / negative opinions ... but "worst team in the league" and only 1 preseason game and oh yea .. best rushing attack in the league last year ... of which Sammy had ZERO impact with ... I'll take the Bills vs. the field especially with NYJ and Tannehill less Dolphins for 4 games.
  12. Hey Nucci ..check out this link to 2016 NFL Franchise Value from Forbes ... take a look at who is #32 ... surprise .. Buffalo ... not complaining .. just stating reality ... so sorry Forbes appears to be full of crap too in your logic. https://www.forbes.com/nfl-valuations/list/#tab:overall Less than half the revenue of the #1 Cowboys and less than 10% of Net Income ... so there's your revenue sharing
  13. Hey just curious at combine in 2014 .. Sammy ran a 4.43 ... Zay Jones ran a 4.46 ... 3 100th's of a second is the differential in stretching the field? If that were the case why one earth would other teams pay Millions to our draft picks as Free Agents (Gilmore, Gilleslee, Byrd, Levitre) ... wow .. its one thing to say we won't pay for our talent .. its another to say we get less out of them ... wasn't a few years ago the Bills had basically the starting front 4 at the Pro Bowl .. quit being a hater.
  14. Don't misinterpret the thread ... the original post was so much on this board was regarding the 2018 draft and I was curious for others comments on Nate's performance from Thursday as I read virtually none. Certainly with TJ Yates on board ..we have roster room for another QB in 2018.
  15. Bill ... you've been here a while and obviously are respected ... but do you really think give history .. 1 .. Sammy plays a full season .. 2 .. he resigns ... given past performance and his own commentary and also the Bills history of not overspending (i.e Jarius Byrd (which turned out a good choice, Levitre, Gilmore) ... bottom line .. we're a small market team ... we need to be like Green bay and build via the draft .. the past captains yes have sucked since the Marv Levy years ... but at least Pegula doesn't stand pat .. he moves on and tries a different route .. without faiure there is no success ... Lord knows we've failed a lot .. I'll take the future draft capital .. vs. what we got for Gilmore's departure .. i.e .. NADA Now that's funny ... we do have a tradition of good tailgates ... and supporting the Bills .. so the slogan could work
  16. Bottom line .. I'm thankful football is back and we can chat about real things vs. the 2018 draft .... we'll see come preseason game 2 ... Kirby to be continued!! Kirby .. one other question ... Peterman or Jared Goff?
  17. Talk to me juice!!! Kirby no offense .. but if you look at the 2017 draft board .. we didn't have a 3rd or 4th rounder because of the trade up for Dion ... we did take Milano in the 5th a few picks earlier ... but still ... we didn't pass on him 5 times .. 4 yes ... but I think they thought they couldn't believe he was still sitting there. Amen .. hold a clip board at #3 Preach Starry!!!!
  18. Agree ... my only point is I don't see anyone excited about his first game action of the season ... all we're jabbering about is 2018 and we only only partially test driven our new 2017 QB model. Thanks 87 ... I agree
  19. Eric Wood was with the Pick from Philly for Jason Peters .. I like Woody .. but in hindsight .. would of preferred Peters sitting at LT for the past 8 years.
  20. All I'm saying ... is 90% of this board is already looking to 2018 QB draft class and a guy we just picked (granted 5th round) has played half a game ... and versus others ... I thought showed OK ... so it ain't 2018 yet ... let's talk about what we have for 2017 ... for me I'm looking forward to Nate's next game ... and see what happens ... my point is ... everyone else I showed drafted late .. probably wasn't that team's savior either (Brady, Wilson, Prescott, Cousins) ... but were eventually thrust into the roles and shocking given their draft position ... have played pretty well (meaning I think we as Bills Fans) vs. the 20+ QB's we've had since Jim Kelly.
  21. Brady was passed 5 times as I recall ... Russell Wilson was the 6th QB taken in his draft (we took the illustrious TJ Graham WR NC State 7 picks earlier that year in round 3) ... Kirk Cousins .. same draft class next round ... with your logic ... unless you're a first rounder ... you can't make it .. I respectfully disagree ... Dak Precott as a recent example.
  22. All I am reading today is the draft capital to get a QB in next year's draft .... is it just me or did no one like what Nate showed on Thursday? First drive as a pro ... drove down the field and scored ... in the fourth scrambled for good 1st downs .. and then hit Taiwan Jones perfectly on 4th down on the 5 yard line .. but he turned his head to run and dropped the ball ...likely could of been game tying score. This kid went to Clemson last year and beat #1 in a shootout against D. Watson ... I like what I saw and yes only one game and yes against 2nd/3rd string .. but certainly better than what I saw from Yates vs. the Vikes ... but given the lack of comments and I am island?
  23. Kirk Cousins was a 4th round pick .... wondering why we're all in on next year's QB ... was anyone not impressed with what Peterman (our 5th round pick and who Gruden says is most pro ready QB in the draft) showed on Thursday? First drive ... leads the team to a score ... if Taiwan can catch a pass on 4th down on the 5 yard line ... perhaps another score ... looking forward to game #2
  24. Great Post .. especially the last part ... about the Rockpile legacy ... that's what's great about the Bills legacy ... as I've promised my son who has never seen a playoff game and is now in high school ... it will be much sweeter when it happens .... it will be worth the wait ... just wasn't exactly thinking it would take this long .. but I like the foresight of the new regime ... short term pain ... knock on wood long term gain.
  25. Without Pegula ... Bills are no longer in Buffalo .. I say THANK YOU TERRY ... without him on Sundays ... you'd be watching Cleveland games on local Buffalo TV.
