Anyone remember the NFL Rocks films of the 90's
Apocalypse Nuts replied to downunderbill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Awesome stuff, brother. Thank you for this, downunderbill. I actually do not remember this at all, which is surprising (sort of). I graduated high school in 1992 so you'd think I would have seen this a few dozen times. Those were pretty hazy days for me so it's actually no wonder I was unaware of something like this. I was unaware of a lot back then. This is really great stuff though. I feel a little bit older now after seeing this old footage, but still very cool stuff. And why is it that footage from those days looks so damn old and dated now? It's like looking at old film photos from the 70's. -
Josh Allen is all that matters
Apocalypse Nuts replied to Wayne Arnold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Amen, brother. Well put. The problem is the cry babies won't listen to reason and don't understand reality. They want to have their cake and eat it too. I, for one, am actually glad this season is so bad. After decades of mediocrity, barely being decent and never getting anywhere, we finally have a management team willing to feel some real pain so they can truly rebuild this team into a real contender. But nope, the cry babies around here can't stomach being so terrible for a season or two. It's called seeing the forest through the trees, folks. It's called the big picture. Take your lumps and come back stronger. And may I add a huge "thank you" to the OP of this thread? What a nice change it is to hear a voice of maturity. So nice to finally see a thread that's not whining about everything, yelling about who should "be acountable", why all the TT haters were so wrong (get the !@#$ over that already). -
I’m angry, and I demand accountability.

I'm nearly at a loss for words. You babies just continue to amaze me. Your Bills fans for Pete's sake. Don't you have any fortitude at all? -
Someone should be fired. Simple
Apocalypse Nuts replied to DKBills25's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're putting words into my mouth, sir. I never said any of that is "fine". I merely expressed myself about all of those here who think the sky is falling each and every week. You act as if some regression or step back is not allowed during a rebuilding period. Why do you insist on getting so riled up about a season that is and will be a huge disappointment? What is it that you would have done to make things any different? You all act as if you know so much more than the actual professionals that are running the team. You don't. -

I'm so ashamed to be a Bills fan right now. Not because they're doing so poorly. Nope. It's because of babies like you guys. Do you understand the concept of a rebuild? -
Why did Rex only get 2 years?
Apocalypse Nuts replied to RosenNOTchosen1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rex Ryan, and his DA twin brother, are buffoons and always will be buffoons. And that's putting it mildly. Anyone who can't see that by now, well, I just feel really sorry for you. -
Everyone that wanted TT gone, we told you
Apocalypse Nuts replied to Dadonkadonk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pathetic. Just pathetic. -
Yes, I get upset with you pansies bitching and moaning all the time. You are correct. It's not "my way or the highway" I just don't like p---ssies like you. You whine and cry for the sake of it rather than contributing something meaningful. Anyone can be cynical. That's easy. Toughen up a little.
-
No denying that at all. I guess I'm just way past getting upset anymore. Definitely into the seriously jaded phase at this point. Probably related to my complete lack of tolerance for whiners now.
-
I've, once again, written and deleted a good, honest response to the whiners on this board. Deleted because I don't want to hurt your little feelings any more than they so obviously are already. The OP and other like-minded here have it totally right. The whiners will always justify their bitching as being "skeptical" and the rest of us are homers or cheerleaders. Whatever. We know who needs a diaper changed here and who doesn't. It really makes me sad to be a Bills fan when I read some of the bitching and moaning on this board. I honestly cannot understand what you all get from constantly chiming in every chance you get to snuff out anyone's positivity. Like you fulfill some deep need to ensure the rest of us and our positive thinking are always in check by your unique wisdom. Oh how our lives would be so incomplete with you all. How can we ever thank you enough? I'll have to cut myself off again now before I go too far.

You have no idea what you're talking about. How can he "air it out" without a single WR that can outrun the defense? Foster might have wheels but he can't catch a cold. Daboll runs plenty of crossing patterns. Are you blind? Yes, stats don't lie. But they don't tell the whole story either. You're going to have to do better than that.

Caption This! (Bucs edition)

We have a winner! (not the WW II movie answer) That's pretty good, Doc. I wasn't sure if anyone would get that. That movie goes back a few decades. A classic nonetheless. So many funny quotes. -

Winston: "Hey Fitz, was that you?" Fitz: "Uh, it was the chair, eh." (10 points if you can get the movie reference here) -
Met the mother of a current Bill this week
Apocalypse Nuts replied to Thurman#1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great story. I hear Ryan played pretty well this week and impressed the coaches. On the Milano INT play, you can see Lewis going crazy, bouncing up and down celebrating. I was a little surprised by his enthusiasm with him being so new and coming over from the Pats. But he was really, really into the game. I hope he takes over for Vontae's old spot if he's good enough. He looks like he plays with more heart than Vontae ever had. Oh, and my dad had a Japanese wife once. She's my mother. -
I've only been to one game at now New Era field (what great timing for this name change). It was back in 2002, I think, versus the Rams. Bledsoe threw three touchdowns to the tight end, can't remember his name right now, and Terrence McGee took a kick return to the house. Seats were on the Rams side but close to the field and everyone was so nice. A young guy in front of us yelled a few non-PC things of a sexual nature to Adam Archuleta and he was quickly reigned in by the rest of his group. I thought that was a sign of real class in those Bills fans. I know there's always a-holes there who can't handle their drink but I think the rest of those Bills fans are more well-mannered than most fans in this league. And I couldn't believe how reasonable the prices were for beverages there. Less than half what they charge at other stadiums I've been to. It was cold so we had mostly coffee though. Bills fans RULE!

I live in East Tennessee just south of Knoxville so this is going to be on local t.v. here but I'm driving back from Atlanta with the fam that morning. We've already worked out the timing so we get back with plenty of time to spare. My wife definitely knows how much this means to me. Bills games don't get aired around here very often. Last year for the Carolina game, since I'm 17 miles from the NC border as the crow flies, I tried to turn my HD antenna toward NC to see if I could somehow pick up the game signal. But alas, the Great Smoky's were just too much for any signal I guess. I've been a Bills fan for 28 years now. It's been a tough ride, as you all know, but I never, ever gave up on them no matter how bleak it got or how much crap I had to take from anyone about my team. I'm not even from Buffalo or Western NY. I went through all 4 Super Bowls with you all, not to mention the last 17years of joy (pain). Maybe the stars are finally lining up for us (knock on wood). I mean, our new QB is a maniac who, we now clearly know, gives his team everything he has on every down. Plus he's a physical freak who seems to be a lot more than what all those "expert" scouting reports wanted everyone to believe before the draft. This season is going to be a bumpy ride, ladies and gents, but it definitely promises to be damn fun to watch. Oh and I'll take all the blame for those first two terrible losses. My bad. I didn't know that the universe wants me to not make ribs and also to keep my Bills cup in the cupboard in a specific spot on game day. I definitely can't bring that out and drink out of it no matter how much I like it. Sound weird but it must be true. I did neither on Sunday and look what happened.

Nice! Love this post! I think we all had the exact same thought at that moment: I can't believe he just did that and I don't ever want to see him do that again. What warrior though. Josh Allen puts everything on the line for his team and gives everything he has. This play is all the proof anyone needs.

The Bills packers game in 2014
Apocalypse Nuts replied to Ice bowl 67's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember that one. A good win but seemed like one of those where we just got lucky. Bacarri Rambo got two easy picks off Rodgers and Mario Williams closed out the game by getting around the edge at Rodgers in the endzone, if I recall correctly, to ice it. Mario was pretty dominate in that one and we all thought for sure he would keep that up for a few years. But oh, good ole Rex comes along and f--ks it all up. I knew when he fired Schwartz, or let him walk (whatever), things were not going to go well. Rex was so !@#$ cocky you could see the smirk on his stupid face when he talked about "doing something different" on defense going forward. What a tool. This game was a very good example of how much Schwartz really mattered. Next season personnel was basically the same but entirely different results. If Rex Ryan were coaching this Packers game, you all would have coasted to a win. -
Another example of someone else summing up my exact thoughts in a short, succinct sentence vs. a long-winded paragraph from me. I even recall Beane talking about why they liked Allen so much right after the draft. He talked about how much they liked him because of everything they saw he could do. They looked at the tape of all those QB's over and over and over so they weren't lacking for comparison data. It drives me INSANE seeing so many asshats posting over and over and over, ad nauseum, the same regurgitated BS pre-draft "scouting" reports. Gee yeah, it takes a real football mind to read sports reports and repeat the same narrative. These idiots are so compelled to enlighten us with how intelligent they are knowing for certain Allen doesn't have it all and never will. How many more times do I have to read that he isn't accurate and you just can't teach that. BULLS--T!!!! You CAN teach accuracy, or major improvement - see footwork for starters. If you watched him throw yesterday, he certainly seemed to be accurate and have amazing touch to me. Yesterday's game pretty much proved all the haters wrong and, oddly enough, they're either nowhere to be found post-game, or somehow they're now supportive even though they were so certain Allen was already a bust. Asshats!!!!

I was going to write a long reply about giving Allen a little slack for this being just his FIRST START in the NFL. But why bother? Those of you that have made up your minds about him already won't listen anyway. Of course, you all that are the most gloom and doom are the one's who chime in most often due to your aching need to share your cynical opinions with the rest of us who just want to support our team and try to stay positive through it all (as if we give a damn)(apologies for the run-on sentence). Seriously, why do you even bother continuing to be a Bills fan if you think this team is so crappy? You guys might want to talk to your doctors about anti-depressants or something. (No doubt some of you will now feel the overwhelming urge to refute my opinion and be compelled to bash me for daring to say anything) On a side note, what I don't feel is talked about enough is Allen's other-worldly-fast wind-up and release. It's just ridiculous how quickly he snaps and fires that ball out. It's like a one millisecond, single movement and BAM it's out and down the field. I'm not sure I've ever seen another QB with that fast of a wind-up and release, at least not in recent memory. IMO that attribute alone can be a huge asset. It doesn't give defenders any time to adjust to where they think he might be throwing. And once they all realize how fast his release is, his pump fake could be deadly. Even watching him throw those 80 yard passes (and yes, the ball did travel at least 80 yards through the air), he put his body into it but it still looked too easy as if he could have done more if he needed to. I'm sure that's not the case but damn, how do you throw it that hard so effortlessly? If he doesn't end up being the franchise savior, he'll still be very fun to watch for just his God-given howitzer of an arm. We're probably watching the strongest arm ever in the NFL to-date. Enjoy it while it lasts folks. I remember Bledsoe displaying his cannon in that shoot-out against Minnesota, ironically, many years ago. That was fun to watch but Allen can chuck it even farther than Drew.

The Game Plan Moving Forward
Apocalypse Nuts replied to 1st Ammendment NoMas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Love the idea about the RB's. The double wheel routes would be a real pain for teams to defend against and they don't take long to develop like routes downfield. Shady and Murphy definitely have the speed to make it work well. I honestly can't figure out why DiMarco is taking up a roster spot. Maybe he can run block moderately well, but I don't see anything overwhelming in that area. He sucks at receiving. Hands are bricks.
