  1. I know highlights aren’t definitive, but even last year in Miami he clearly had a higher gear than most on the field. Probably highest on him of our HBs because of his experience and production in the league, which is not an indictment of Singletary or Moss - I’m in the OL run blocking improvement is needed camp.
  2. Assuming all are equally energized, currently: Hughes - Obada - Oliver - Epenesa Call it the H-O-O-E package.
  3. If you don’t have balance on the offensive line, then you get knocked over. But for real, yes a more balanced offense would likely help keep defenses guessing. We do use a ton of play action.
  4. Oh is that the case? Don't know much about his background personally. Just love the attitude he's brought to Buffalo.
  5. I was not talking about a situation with "an unknown", but instead about a situation where Brown and Doyle come to camp/preseason and make Williams' contract expendable. Not saying that I want it to happen. I want as strong an offensive line as possible and value the trenches above everything but QB. Is Williams a steal at his price? I think so. However, I believe Beane's goal with Allen's looming contract is to get as many cheap contracts starting as possible.
  6. Me neither, but I Googled and this is what someone with the Reddit username WhirledWorld said 4 years ago: There's a lot of reasons: - No trump card. Only 6'0", so not a great fit at split end. Above-average but not flashy combine numbers (e.g. 4.46 40). Injuries really limited his tape going into the draft. Missed three games in 2014 with a lacerated kidney. Missed six games in 2013 with a broken leg. Also missed three games due to contact with an official. That's a lot of missing tape for scouts, not to mention that even if these aren't recurring injuries, scouts will still worry if you're injury prone. - Could have gone anywhere as the #2 WR prospect out of high school, but wanted to be the home town hero, which is fine except he was off the radar and wasn't proving himself against good competition. Not to mention the Terps were bad, so there was zero national buzz. - Speaking of the Terps being bad, Diggs was in a terrible quarterback situation. If you think Shaun Hill is bad, the Terps' QB carousel was so bad that they had to start a linebacker at QB. - The wide receiver he is now is a lot different than the rookie he was. Rookie Stefon Diggs was very poor at the release and really didn't know what to do against press, how to use his hands, how to counter certain leverage and certain looks, what footwork to start out with. He's also added some weight and physicality, and while he was a natural at attacking the ball in college, the added strength adds a Brandon-Marshall-lite ability at the catch point. He was unproven as a route runner, and while he picked it up naturally with his great stop-and-go speed and quick cuts, there wasn't much tape of him winning as a route runner against quality cornerbacks.
  7. We are clearly deep at OT. Dawkins, Williams, Brown, Doyle, Hart. Plus, Ford has played RT and I believe Bates has OT experience. Would love a player-for-player trade, but would not be surprised by something like Hart for a 6th or 7th. Heck, if Brown and Doyle come along real quick this summer and Brown shows he can man RT, I would not count out Williams for a 4th or 5th.
  8. Agree, but with that speed I think Daboll gets him involved in the offense, too - mirroring a blend of McKenzie & Brown’s roles.
  9. Or call up the same play we ran with Kyle Williams for his TD
  10. Beane hears this news, thinks of all his offensive tackles, and:
  11. I’d say Brown’s potential is actually much higher than great starter given he has the best RAS of any OT since what was it 1987? Could be our RT for 10-12 years after being swing tackle this year.
  12. He’s definitely not filled out yet, but pretty sure McBeane know that.
  13. Yeah, he’s definitely not what I’d call a “burner”, but his smart route running allows him to find open areas deep. I think Diggs, Sanders, and Beasley have to be the best trio in the NFL in terms of route running and ability to create separation. Brown seemed to be able to turn the respect DBs had to give his deep speed into separation moreso than technical route running, not that he’s bad at the latter. Edit: I think the decision to move on from him was more based on his injuries. My guess is Stevenson is in the upper echelon for separation, too.
  14. "It's electric! Boogie woogie, woogie!" or "When Mr. Oogie Boogie says There's trouble close at hand You'd better pay attention now 'Cause I'm the Boogie Man And if you aren't shakin' There's something very wrong 'Cause this may be the last time You hear the boogie song, oh"
  15. Sanders had 61 catches for 726 yards and 5 touchdowns last year. Just re-watched his highlights from last year and, while he did have plenty of catches finding short pockets, he actually killed teams in the intermediate-to-deep middle. He also was limited a bit by Brees' last-season-arm. I have high hopes for Sanders in this offense. This regime has coveted one trait above all others for WRs: separation. Still, I think Diggs, Davis, McKenzie, and Stevenson all figure to contribute as deep threats here and there.
  16. I don't know how much James White may have lost a step, but he strikes me as a clear #2 running in the AFCE to Josh Allen. I think Gaskin could do really well - liked him coming out in the draft. But the answer, if he can stay on the field/healthy, is:
  17. I wish I had a better grasp on where our core special teamers stand with McBeane. It would make some of those final roster decision projections a little easier/clearer. Definitely agree that we'll continue to add pieces. I would be surprised if we did not sign at least a TE3, someone to compete at DT (1T), and a veteran like Davis/Norman (but really hopefully not at all like Davis) at CB.
  18. There's a difference between "DT in the NFL" and "occasional 2nd/3rd down & long interior rusher in the NFL". Edit: grammar
  19. I like it overall, but would be surprised if Stevenson doesn't make it.
  20. Depends on whether each factor is weighed the same.
  21. Also voted Oliver. In addition to your reasoning of benefiting from the new edge rushers, I think he benefits in that department from Lotulelei coming back. Further, I think we could very well have 6 DEs splitting time fairly evenly, which would mean he just has more time on the field. I see Claptain America rotating the DTs less than the DEs.
  22. I never really considered that, but Beane showed with Zay Jones he is willing to cut ties with a 2nd round pick. Do you think Ford would fetch better than a 5th round pick? Thing is, I think this would require 2 of Feliciano/Boettger/Lamp/Anderson to show they are clearly the best options as starters above him. Even then, Beane might value keeping Ford as a cheap 3rd G.
  23. Thanks - added Doyle and dropped Adams. Unfortunately Johnson I see on PS (if eligible) or traded/cut.
  24. Or that UDFA from Bowling Green. But more likely what you said. Oh dang haha that was just an oversight. Tough to release anyone, but gonna edit accordingly - thank you!
  25. My guess if somehow Beane makes no more moves: Allen, Trubisky Singletary, Moss, Breida Gilliam Knox, Hollister, Sweeney Diggs, Sanders, Beasley, Davis, McKenzie, Hodgins, Stevens Dawkins, Ford, Morse, Feliciano, Williams, Brown, Doyle, Boettger, Anderson, Lamp Hughes, Addison, Epenesa, Obada, Rousseau, Basham Oliver, Lotulelei, Butler, Phillips Edmunds, Milano, Klein, Matakevich White, Wallace, T. Johnson, Jackson, Neal, Wildgoose Hyde, Poyer, J. Johnson, Hamlin Bass Haack Ferguson Edit: Forgot Doyle (d’oh!) - swapped him in for LB Adams
