  1. From during the game: ✔@ChrisBrownBills Backup QB with Webb in right now is Logan Thomas, former Va Tech QB. #Bills
  2. "Generally acceptable range" = prototypical You: "Yes, if his measurables are far enough away from prototypical he will be considered less of a prospect. This is true of every player at every position." The dude is going in the 1st round, and more than likely in the first half of it. He could somehow measure 5'9", but I've seen zero sources to back up that possibility.
  3. The only one... out of the two of us. You think 6'2" is prototypical size? I was actually thinking of this article (https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2015/11/18/nfl-quarterbacks-does-height-matter/76023390/), and the fact that the average NFL QB is 6'3". I don't think below average QB height, 6'2", would be considered prototypical. You can go ahead and include all of the short QBs listed in that article: Shortest QB's: Russell Wilson – Seattle Seahawks – 5'11" Drew Brees – New Orleans Saints – 6' (No.6) Johnny Manziel – Cleveland Browns – 6' Tyrod Taylor – Buffalo Bills – 6'1" Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers – 6'2" (No. 5) Brian Hoyer – Houston Texans – 6'2" (No. 10) Andy Dalton – Cincinnati Bengals – 6'2" (No. 4) Ryan Fitzpatrick – New York Jets – 6'2"(No. 7) Teddy Bridgewater – Minnesota Vikings – 6'2"
  4. The thing is that Mayfield has high marks on pretty much every other area other than size, which again is still up in the air. Realistically, he's probably somewhere between 5'11" and 6'1". Would it be better if Mayfield were 6'4"? Sure, but I don't think his height and hand size is going to prevent him from going in the 1st round, and probably in the first half of it, given that he is a very talented QB. I don't understand the argument re: Wilson & Brees. I get they weren't drafted in the 1st, but I do not think any sane watcher of NFL football is going to say they shouldn't have been drafted in the 1st given their success. If we could go back and re-do their drafts, I expect both would be top 5 picks, if not first overall. Manziel had all the talent in the world. I don't think his height made him an off-the-field disaster. Regardless, you're still ignoring that Rodgers, taken in the 1st, without prototypical size, is one of the best QBs.
  5. I thought the point you were making is that Mayfield should be considered less of a QB prospect because his measurables might not be prototypical. That would look like this: IF no prototypical measurables, THEN cannot be great NFL QB So, I came up with 3 examples of great NFL QBs currently playing who do not have prototypical measurables. I'm not saying Mayfield will necessarily be a great NFL QB, because I wouldn't say that about any QB prospect. I'm saying that the balance between (a) all his other positive attributes and (b) the possibility his measurables might not be prototypical, to me, falls decidedly in his favor as a prospect.
  6. OK, then same for Wilson and Brees. Guess they should take their rings away.
  7. I think there is a good chance he still goes in the 1st, yes. I think the prevailing thought is that Mayfield is worth trading up for, but if he is 5'9", then yeah maybe that changes, although I haven't seen any source put him that short. FWIW, Wilson's draft profile had him at 5'11", and he's now again considered 6'1" or so in the NFL. (http://www.nfl.com/draft/2011/profiles/russell-wilson?id=2532975) But do you not think teams would take Brees and Wilson in the 1st if they could go back and do it again? I guess what I am saying is that teams are more likely to take a shorter guy in the 1st given the success of guys like Brees and Wilson. You also conveniently left out Rodgers. Height is a factor, to be sure, but I just don't think it is dispositive as to whether he will be a successful NFL QB.
  8. 49ers very well may be playing themselves out of that high pick
  9. 3 of the best QBs in the game who all have Super Bowl rings, and not an exhaustive list. I'm sure there is a long list of tall QBs who were busts. And I guess I'll be hitting you up to see where you get your crystal ball. Or at least curious as to how you were able to sneak in somewhere and measure Mayfield's height...
  10. Whatever it takes to get up to #3, if that means Mayfield is there, I think at this point it would be difficult to argue against. I'd trade all our draft picks this year for a franchise QB, and doubt it would take that many.
  11. I disagree in that I'd rather not place my bet on a QB's accuracy improving. I honestly have not scouted the QBs all that much - what do you see as the negatives for Rudolph? I'm not sure we need the Browns or Giants to trade out. If we can find a way to trade up to SF's #3 overall pick (for which we do have the draft capital), then we are guaranteed one of Rosen, Darnold, or Mayfield.
  12. I think that exact list from the OP goes in the 1st, but probably in this order: Rosen, Mayfield, Darnold, Allen, Jackson, Rudolph. I think Wentz's success coming from North Dakota State only helps Allen's stock and teams will not judge him based on his play, but his potential (which scares me a bit).
  13. QBs at 6'2": D. Brees, A. Rodgers, R. Wilson I'll take Mayfield, please. Hopefully we can trade up with one 1st round pick and (an)other pick(s), and keep the other 1st round pick for an OG/DT.
  14. Close to it. Agreed that Williams is likely gone next year. Doesn't look like we have a starter at the other DT position either. Agreed that Lawson has been underwhelming, but doubt replacing him is seen as a top priority given the state of the rest of the roster. Hughes is a quality starter.
  15. In other news, it is unlikely the Pegulas put the Bills up for bid in a silent auction, despite the voices in my head debating whether or not it will happen.
  16. Tough to say for sure, but it's definitely a valid argument. McCown has been pretty solid.
  17. "Life on the Sidelines... For Now"
  18. Love the idea. Wish it had some foundation in reality. He could be a disgustingly wealthy person's Joe Webb.
  19. I hope one of these happens so the retaliation is funneled towards Brady instead.
  20. I haven't read or listened to exactly what he said, but his general position is correct. McDermott's response is symbolic of the Bills consistently bending over and spreading them for the Patriots.
