  1. Just go back to Schwartz and Marrone and everything will be good. Don't need healthy Sammy or first round pick or quarterback. Doesn't matter your safeties are the worst in the league. If you can be number 4 defense and win the superbowl, then obviously you'll get better the following year even if your defense is based on your front four THAT CONSISTS OF TWO PLAYERS OVER 30 YEARS OLD and a pothead. Did anyone consider that maybe Jerry Hughes getting 10 sacks is easier when he has 3 guys who are playing in their prime and not injured? I wonder why Marrone would walk away from superbowl team. Again, not saying Rex has done good job with this defense but this team overall has not severely underperformed their record and assuming a team that has a bottom half of the league QB and lots of injuries/suspensions should be an automatic playoff contender is not that accurate. And if you want to blame Rex for Tyrod then please say who the quarterback should have been the past two seasons?
  2. Mario Williams=washed up. I know, you're sad didn't keep him and his 1.5 sack/13 tackles for over 10 million dollars. Is Dolphins scheme problem also? Not enough talent with Suh and Wake on that line? Kyle Williams missed over half of season last year and is out now for the rest of the season. Dareus missed over half of season this year. So right now, in the stretch run (probably would be 13-0 without Rex so not such a big deal), you would have a dline with an injured Dareus and Hughes, below average linebackers (Does Rex get any credit for Z brown and Alexander or no?) and the worst safeties in the league with a below average quarterback and two injured receivers. And not to mention Rex was definitely instrumental in bringing your best O-linemen in and possibly Shady too. I've been rooting for Bills this year because loved what Rex did with Jets and Mark Sanchez and Geno smith (not easy to win with bad Qb). Interested in hearing actual arguments against my specific points about how this team would be in trouble with or without Rex, not just pointing out that im a Rex lover (which I am even though agree really disappointing his defense stinks now) and therefore cant have an argument. Oh, and which teams that have QB as bad as Tyrod are awesome-not too many (although there are cases).
  3. I think amongst Bills fans (from reading everyone cry about it) the assumption is that the defense would have been just as good, if not better, the past two years. All I'm pointing out is that assumption is faulty as TWO of your FOUR defensive linemen have been out/washed up because they're over 30 and THAT WAS THE STRENGTH of the Defense. I'm not saying it's automatic, I'm just saying based on those facts and injury to Aaron Williams that it is very possible and for some reason no Bills fans question that. combine that with going into the season without a quarterback or first round pick and I'm not sure why its a good assumption that this team would be an automatic playoff participant these past two years.
  4. I would love to have him back. He hasn't done a good job with this defense-just pointing out that this notion that you guys deserve a superbowl because went 9-7 and had returning over 30 year olds who got injured/washed up and another suspended and had a Retired QB (kind of important position) with no first round draft pick is absolutely nuts. Bills fans, and probably their players also, think that because they went 9-7 and could have made playoffs but lost to 3-13 team instead they actually won something. All I'm pointing out is that if you had Schwartz, his 4-3 defense would have been in trouble these past two year because the 4 in the 4-3 would be down to 1 and a half. not too complicated to figure that out.
  5. Those are pretty specific parameters. Probably hard to find. Again, if had Jim Schwartz then this team would have a 4-3 defense with one all of a sudden washed up d-linemen, one injured (Kyle Williams), and one suspended and then injured. Their D-line last week would have been Dareus (who is probably injured) and Jerry Hughes. And they have no safeties. And their linebackers are garbage-Actually i shouldn't say that since I assume only Doug Whaley gets credit for getting anything out of Lorenzo Alexander and Z Brown since Rex cant do anything right. Seems like superbowl team to me. Doesn't matter that had no first round pick, and no QB and your best WR has been injured all year. And BTW-I know you all love Whaley for getting Incognito and Shady but my guess is that Rex had something to do with that decision as he is the ground and pound guy.
  6. Assuming a 4-3 defense that's strength is it's d-line would be great 2 years later when two of your linemen are over 30 years old and one is a pothead is insane. Also, take away your best safety and replace him with nobody, and a good linebacker in Bradham. But whatever, bring back Schwartz and Mario Williams, and Bills Defense would be great regardless of whether Kyle Williams or Dareus play. And Bills went 9-7 (aided by playing Patriots backups)-They didn't win Superbowl. They lost to 3-13 team when could have made playoffs. And don't forget THEIR QUARTERBACK RETIRED and they didn't have first round pick following year. Really set up for success with that team.
  7. Hadn't peaked yet?????? Based off 4-3 where 2 of the 4 over 30. One got injured next year, and next one is completely washed up. Your best safety has been injured past two seasons and will probably retire. Your second CB was very old. And you had to get rid of Bradham anyways (same even if Mario wasn't washed up) because of cap purposes. Oh, and third d-linemen is a pothead which caused him to miss most of season. So your right, if would have kept Schwartz you probably would have won superbowl these past two years with Kyle Orton. Oh forgot, your starting Quarterback retired.
  8. A. K so he got 4 sacks his first four weeks, and then Rex changed scheme to stop letting him rush the passer-got it. Does Rex get credit for helping no names Lorenzo and Zach Brown for putting up great numbers or is that all genius Doug Whaley? B. Had 6 sacks and four forced fumbles with Rex after Buffalo let him go in 2011 and then when relied upon next year he stunk it up cuz only had one move.
  9. The equation was a first round pick and thought of bust goes to different team and succeeds. Just trying to figure out what has happened to him last ten weeks. I have not been able to watch games as I live in NJ area but from analysis by people who review tape he is not being doubled as much as Kyle and Lorenzo. Maybe he's injured, just wanna know what happened to him since hot start-Is he injured? And don't bring in scheme-I'm sure he rushes the passer plenty.
  10. Rex didn't have Mckelvin til end and Kiko either. Dareus played 15 games and Gilmore 14 so contributed heavily to #4 defense. All I'm saying is at end of last year with all their injuries they were not going anywhere anyways even if did sneak into playoffs with Jim the great Schwartz and EJ Manuel.
  11. I agree Rex has not done well with this defense. But assuming Schwartz would continue to have top five defense with strength of defense being D-line which had two guys over 30 years old and a pothead, plus taking into account injuries, is not automatic. And the offense would still be huge problem. Especially with injuries this team would not be going far in playoffs, if did make playoffs, and would not have anything sustainable.
  12. "I'm of the opinion that the team really loved Schwartz and would have rallied around him as a HC." Rex's guys loved him on the Jets. If you don't have a good QB you will not win, and Schwartz wouldn't have good QB either (not mentioning fact Schwartz lost with good qb. in his previous job) "That defense would've still been top 10. And with the worst run game in 2014, we still won 9 games. Throw in Shady and a top 5 rushing attack, we absolutely make the postseason." At the end of last season, Gilmore, Bradham, Kyle Williams, and Aaron Williams were injured-that's not top 10 defense. Also, Rex was probably instrumental in bringing in McCoy (who was injured at end of last season) and Tyrod who helped create a top 5 rushing offense. So assuming Bills would have anything stable and consistent playoff team with no cap room and below average QB is more conjecture than saying the opposite.
  13. I'm a former Jet fan who became Bills fan because of Rex. I love rooting for him and thought he got bad rap for horrible teams last years for Jets. Ridiculous that he was able to go 8-8 with Geno Smith and Jeremy Kerley. Even his defenses the last year were better than they should have been. His last year they were literally taking CBs off the street because Idzik was so horrible. Having said that, I'm very disappointed with what Rex has done with this defense. If he had this offense he has now with the Jets he would have made the playoffs probably 3 out of the last 4 years and possibly won a superbowl the first two years. With all that said, this notion that if Marrone or Jim Schwartz was still here you would take your 9-7 (aided by Pats sitting their starters last week) and be great these last two years is utterly ridiculous. I know Jim Schwartz had a good year with the 4-3 defense and the great defensive line. Does anyone know how he would do with that defensive line being down one starter being injured/suspended (Kyle last year, Dareus this year) and the other washed up (Mario Williams)? How about with beyond horrible safeties with AW being injured? You know based on cap, Bradham would have been gone. Also, seems Jerry Hughes is injured or teams have figured him out (see Aaron Maybin with Jets). Now lets go to offense. They were really set up for future with their Quarterback retiring and no first round pick the year Rex took over. It is Rex's fault he wanted Tyrod-in retrospect he should have gone after Brady, Matt Ryan or Aaron Rodgers. Sammy Watkins was injured this entire season, Dareus has been injured/suspended and Shaq was injured the first half. So basically 4 first round picks the last bunch of years were not on the field (Watkins counts for two). Should I throw in the EJ pick? How is this team built well-There Quarterback is below average, receivers since not healthy below average, D-line nothing special with injuries/suspensions, linebackers below average, safeties possibly worst in the league. Rex still should take blame for the defense but this team being 6-7 overall is not that bad of a coaching job. And getting a Qb is not easy especially with no first round pick and no salary room. So if you wanna fire Rex, fine, but thinking how great this team would be with Schwartz or Marrone still running it is foolish in my opinion-based on injuries and your most important position being way below average this team would be in same position with or without Rex.
