In whose mind? The coaches? I seriously doubt it. LB was still one of the weaker units on the team and I think that the chances were overwhelmingly in favor of Bradham making the team. Personally I wouldn't have been surprised if he wasn't the 3rd amigo to Spikes and Alonso.

I dunno PTR. Steady improvement season over season. Why didn't you expect playoffs? Regarding the post I quoted...there's a big difference between playoff and SB contender. For now I'd be happy with a playoff contender. Let the SB talk come after that.

Perhaps a better helmet? Why do you think that anyone cares about making a better helmet today? Certainly money, but the publicity that has been raised by looking into the lives of former players is the reason that the NFL cares one iota about player safety.

Anybody who is thinking SB contender and Buffalo Bills doesn't have a firm grasp on reality. Do you really expect this franchise to make the leap from lower mediocrity to SB contender in one off season? I ask myself whether they are better today than they were when last season ended. That's an easy one to answer. They still have major ??? in several areas, but, they are much better from a talent perspective than they've been in the last dozen years. They now have a foundation to build on. You couldn't say that 8, 5, 3 or 2 years ago. Would I love an overnight transformation? Hell yes. Do I expect one? Hell no.

A's are going for IT. I don't know how you can argue with that strategy. Think about what they've done compared to the Bills...A's are on top and they are pitching rich. They've now made themselves even more pitching rich. They want the 2014 WS. Bills traded away next year's #1 for Watkins. Are the Bills one player away? Did Watkins push them over the top? Which move makes more sense?

This thread is amazing. I look at the 2014 Bills and I see the talent level as the best that it's been in a decade. Are there questions about ownership? Yup. Are there questions about the FO? Yup. Are there questions about the coaching staff? Yup. What I'm left with is a team that possesses more talent at key positions vs. the past decade. I'm left with a coaching staff that has been improved over 2013 (how? well, they now have a majordomo for Hackett to lean on and they have a QB coach. For those of you ringing your hands over the loss of Pettine I would suggest that you go watch the tape of the 2013 season with both eyes open. The key components also have a year of experience under their belts.). I'm left with the strongest running game in the NFL that has been improved significantly over 2013. I'm left with an offensive line that should be head & shoulders better than the 2013 group. Too many in this thread are those that others point to when they say that there are people on this site who do really want the team to fail (to prove themselves correct). That quite frankly sucks. You don't have to be head over heels in love with the team, but prior to the start of a season (heck, prior to the start of TC) you can't find anything to like? You can't post something without also taking a backhand at the GM, or coach, or QB? You always have to focus on the negative? If you've been here long enough to know you understand that I have serious concerns about several aspects of the team. I don't let those concerns overwhelm me though. I have hope and I can't wait for the 2014 season to get kicked off.

People have this romantic notion of the Bills 2014 defense. Please folks, (if you are thinking Pettine's loss will be difficult to overcome) go look at last season. Yes, the defense go sacks, but at what expense? How good were they really? I don't know whether Schwartz will field a better defense (based on personnel/scheme), frankly, I'm skeptical (but also hopeful). But, if you are sitting in your home pining for the "Pettine years" I'd ask you to reconsider.
