Bills vs. Ravens: 1st Half Game Day Thread
Ron Burgundy replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When you face a killer pass rush or just can't block you throw quick passes. I dont think we have a qb even capable of doing that. -

Erie County Executive concerned about fan behavior

Really?? It's the true fans that only come around when they are winning? I think you're confusing true fans with bandwagon fans. I'm not saying there isn't a certain element at games to just get wasted but if you're only supporting a team when they are good you are a crap fan. -
Article: One Team's Draft Board

Unless it's a smoke screen. But then maybe they WANT you to think it's a smoke screen and it's real. I'm only half joking i'm sure a crap ton of this goes on. -
Was breaking the drought worth it?
Ron Burgundy replied to The 9 Isles's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't believe this is being asked in any way, shape, or form. One of the worst droughts in pro sports and we ended the season with plenty of draft capital. You gotta be one of those people that want to tank every year. -

I'm trying to make sense of it from a Colts perspective and this is the only way it makes sense. The Colts need a lot of pieces with or without Luck. He can turn their offense around but their Def is terrible. They have a high pick to replace him so maybe one of the QBs in the draft has caught their eye and they will stockpile resources while replacing their QB? It's not that far fetched. Just a little crazy. -
Yes but why didn't we call plays to nullify the pass rush? Whenever the Pats play a super stout pass rush they go with quick passes. Do the playcallers not trust Tyrod with quick passes? I mean, it could be the receivers not able to get separation for those routes, I genuinely am interested. Again, I'm not a Tyrod hater and the blame should not be mostly on him.
-
I see his biggest flaw as not being adept at the quick pass. Throw in some quick passes into the game-plan yesterday and you nullify that pass rush. The loss yesterday was definitely not on his shoulders but franchise quarterbacks can lead their team to wins at times when their team is playing poorly. I don't think TT can do that. I like him, I want to keep him and still draft a QB of the future but he's not a franchise QB.

What if we still had Hogan & Gillislee?
Ron Burgundy replied to BBills14's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We might be 2-1 if we still had them both. -
Before the calls starting going our way there were a few against us that were complete BS. As far as I'm concerned there were blown calls that went both ways. It irks me that people are making such a big deal of the Von Miller penalty. Sure it was huge but it didn't win us the game, we were ahead by that point and our defense was playing really well obviously. Even if we don't get points and run the clock down there they don't get an automatic win if that call isn't made. The refs didn't hand us a win if that's what you're thinking. Denver played poorly but we also played well and we're improving on both sides of the ball.
-
I would think that if TT continues to play this poorly they wouldn't mind so much. Especially if Peterman can pull out a win. That said, i don't think he's a better option. Maybe he's a little bit better at reading defenses and leading receivers but what he makes up there ever so slightly he lacks in mobility. I wish Dennison had just stuck to a similar offensive structure as last years. We are considerably worse this year. Playing Denver next week doesn't help, they manhandled a very good Dallas team.

When our defense is good our offense sucks when our offense is good our defense sucks. Any questions?

Do you think we can beat Carolina?
Ron Burgundy replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is the biggest thing i think. If Cam isn't on his game and our Def is the real deal we can definitely pull out a win. Our offense didn't look great but I would say they looked decent, sure moved the ball well. I think we'll expand the Offense a bit and if all goes well should be a real good game. -
Good confidence game. Jests are really that bad so it's hard to gauge how much stock to put into this. Give a few good performances and we'll see. Sure could be useful to have a stud against the run though.
-
After all was said and done they made the right call. I didnt know wth was going on at the time and thought it would be a mess but they cleaned it up efficiently. The interception we got later was another weird play that i think they called right. Overall good day for the refs really.

Nice write-up, thank you. Just watching the game a 2nd time must've been tedious. Not fixing the penalties issue by regular season time would be unacceptable to me. That's something the staff knew was an issue from last year. They have some time and I'm sure some of the culprits won't be on the team by regular season time, hopefully that'll get fixed. Tyrod struggling is concerning. Darby's familiarity may have played a bit of a role but if we don't see more out of him soon we could be in for a long season.

These are all marketing moves.
Ron Burgundy replied to PlayoffsPlease's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think marketing played a role. I'm betting they looked at what they had and asked themselves if they could win the superbowl with the current roster. Their answer was no so they made some moves that made sense from a long-term growth perspective. The only part that's obvious IMO is that they're all in on a franchise QB next year. If Darnold comes out we'll have the ammo to make a play for him. -
Great post. A little too much negativity about fans being ridiculous from others; your post gives a glimpse of the positive. I wonder if the fans would be this out of control if the team were playing well? I don't know the answer but they may not, this may be the direct result fielding a poor team for so long.

The complete lack of optimism for the upcoming season says a lot about the fan base. I count myself with the rest to be honest, we're writing off this season (with several valid reasons) even though teams make quick turnarounds all the time in the NFL. I doubt our new Carolina braintrust is thinking they are "rebuilding". I think their plan going in is to make the playoffs. These guys don't seem like the types to go into a season hoping to draft high next year. That's obviously complete speculation.
