  1. Maybe there's something I'm unaware of, but no one seems to mention Les Miles. All he did was turn LSU into a national powerhouse. Just curious if his style would work in the NFL. Fully aware college and pros are two different animals, but if you don't want a retread, is he worth an interview?
  2. Taylor is definitely a flawed quarterback, but there is no obvious superior alternative in the near future. If you get more quality O line help and find a way to keep your receivers healthy the offense should be more consistent. The defense needs a scheme better suited to their skill sets and they desperately need help at safety. This team had forgotten how to take the ball away as well. A few picks and fumble recoveries would make Tyrod's job easier too. This team isn't horrible. Taylor isn't my ideal choice but if you fix a few things he's serviceable. Great qbs are few and far between and the Bills aren't the only team who misses out on them. Until you get one, you still have to play games and make the best of it.
  3. I'm not a fan of elder abuse. Let's keep Coach Marv in our memories where he belongs.
  4. Grew up in western NY, got interested in football in about 86, which lined up perfectly with the Bills' rise to power. Lived and died every year with the super bowl run, then again during the Flutie run. Since then it's been hard to maintain the same enthusiasm as they have defied the odds finding new ways to miss the playoffs, but have never given up on them. Humor helps, I just don't let their failure ruin my Sunday. I'll still watch, remember that at the end of the day it's entertainment, not life and death. There are greater tragedies in the world. That being said, I enjoy discussing the Bills with everyone here and hope that it turns around at some point. It will happen, even if by blind luck. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
  5. I like Frank Reich, some great memories. Wish him all the best but don't want to tarnish them by bringing him back for the wrong reasons. Going back to the old guys rarely works.
  6. Personality is overrated in coaching. If you're winning about 12 games a year and having playoff success,it doesn't matter. Belichick is horrible in interviews, but the pats win and the media actually finds him ironically amusing. Just win games.
  7. Not expecting to learn anything useful or exciting about Manuel this week. Highly doubtful he will be in Buffalo after this game. The real question is what the Bills will give up for "Glass Tony" Romo or Jay "Mr Personality" Cutler.
  8. You're definitely right. However, in this world we promote people beyond their skill level for any number of reasons, then tear them down when they fail.I believe they call it the Peter principle, but for the sake of this argument we can call it Wade Phillips syndrome.
  9. Have to pretty much agree with OP. So tired of watching these things... 1. Punting when you are beyond the 50 yard line. You might as well throw a deep pass. If you get picked, it's essentially a punt anyway 2.Prevent defense.. play the defense that put you in position to win in the first place. I watch teams do this crap every year with the same result. 3. Have you watched extra point attempts this year? Two points is a safer bet than ever. 4.Complete a 3rd or 4th down pass at or beyond the sticks instead of 5 yards away. I've seen other teams do it, maybe the bills should try it. 5.Finally, the Bills should never try a reverse again.. they've been doing it for 20 years and it pretty much never works.
  10. HC- Billy Bob Thornton-Permian High OC- Henry Winkler-SCLSU Mud Dogs DC- Rick Moranis-Little Giants ST -Sean Astin- Rudy! Rudy! They all won despite incredible odds. Get r done Doug!!!
  11. Draft a qb with the following criteria... Over 6 feet tall and 210 lbs Played in over 20 college games College career Completion percentage over 60 % Score of at least 20 on wunderlic Should put you in the ballpark of a good QB
  12. I have to admit I was wrong about Rex. I wanted this to work but it's clearly not. They can't beat playoff caliber teams at home, They can't stop the run at all anymore, They can't even get 11 guys on the field in time. What other team in the league does that as much as Buffalo? I tried to buy into the continuity idea, but this is the bad kind. I don't think Rex can successfully change at this point. Plus, for as much credit as the national media likes to give him, isn't his best single season record 9-7? No more excuses.. seen enough. Move on...
  13. The Chiefs seem to do all the little things that add up to winning a couple more of those close games that Bills fans end up lamenting by the end of the season. See Baltimore week 1, Jets week 2,.....Beat the teams you're supposed to, win your difficult home games, and do well against division opponents and you should be right in the playoffs picture.
  14. If you hire a new GM, wouldn't that person pick a new coach anyway? Not that Whaley has done anything so great that it couldn't be equaled or improved upon by someone else. He's had some hits, but also some reaches and misses. Finding a franchise qb would cure a lot of ills...
  15. Always a good day when you can work a Laverne and Shirley reference in.. Can we find a place kicker named Lenny or Squiggy?
  16. The Bills have wasted more money than this on worse ideas..... Although they'll probably never throw to him.
  17. Continuity is only desirable when it's successful continuity.
  18. Rob Ryan blasted the front office today too, but in his defense, last night he drowned his sorrows at Mighty Taco......
  19. "all by myself.." "One is the lonliest number..." "I don't know where I'm going, but I sure know where I've been, hanging on the promises and the songs of yesterday...."
  20. Just not sure I want these coaches to screw Cardale up..
  21. Taylor is a bottom 10 starting qb in this league. Wouldn't start on at least 20 other NFL teams.
