  1. Good grief, who helped you log on? http://www.editorandpublisher.com http://www.salon.com http://www.boston.com
  2. You guys get a load of that fake conservative 'reporter' who got access to White House press briefings, and asked a loaded question to the Pres right out of Rush Limbaugh's script? The more I think about it, the more scary and strange it is. I guess it's been all over some blogs, but I don't read much off them. His ID exposed, reporter quits.
  3. I sincerely meant what I said as a compliment. I am so sorry it was so easily misunderstood.
  4. Mr Bills/Sabresfan, you must get this a lot, but you are one lucky SOB. That's a keeper there, fella. Nice going.
  5. Hey, you gotta do something, man. You can't feed your family on Superbowl rings.
  6. Make a bet. If your thread doesn't reach 10 replies, you'll eat an 11lb hamburger, cut off your nuts, then bake them in an oven before frying them, buy a minivan, watch an old movie, throw up in the huddle, drool over Halle Berry, trade Drew to Arizona, and streak over Hawaii!
  7. A Tale of Two Cities, 1935. One of my all time favorites. But there's too many to list, and too many I haven't seen yet. I looked on TCM's site, gotta set the Tivo for the Pink Panther this week on 3/12. Maybe even the Revenge of the Pink Panther on the 13th.
  8. LOL, no. But if I was, I'd drive a non-descript, turbo-charged minivan.
  9. No good, a sharp looking suv would attract attention. Good article here by Patrick Bedard for Car and Driver magazine, to quote: If I could have any costume I wanted, for everyday getting-there wear, I'd choose a minivan. Those fearing they'll be seen in a minivan have it all wrong. Nobody will see you. Nobody will even look. Minivans are invisible. Nobody wants to see them. They shed witnesses like DuPont's SilverStone sheds bacon fat. Give me a light gray one, a little dusty, and I'll get down the road beneath all notice. Ever see a minivan pulled over by the speed squad? Of course not. Enforcers click on interesting cars, not appliances.
  10. This thread wouldn't be complete without a shout out to all the mustang, camaro, and honda owners who probably felt like cutting their nuts off after getting smoked by the sleeper of all sleepers, a minivan. Check out www.turbominivan.com for a good laugh.
  11. Chili Palmer: What is that? Rental Car Attendant: It's an Oldsmobile Silhouette. Chili Palmer: I ordered a Cadillac. Rental Car Attendant: Oh, well, you got the Cadillac of minivans.
  12. That might have been my fault, I posted a link to your favorite band singing HB (it was the Beatles ). Sorry if that was the threadkiller. HB.
  13. While the passing out from the flu story is generating a lot of yuks, I don't know if everyone fully appreciates what an excellent political position she took in her latest speech on abortion. Check that slate article for one view on it, but it appears to be a brilliant move to capture the center of political (not religious) thought on the subject of abortion. It's a far cry from what is considered the stereotypical liberal position. While I can appreciate that her motives and sincerity are subject to scrutiny, if Mrs Clinton keeps this type of talk up and extends it to other issues, it's exactly the type of position that is going to attract people in the middle. I don't think there's any question she has the support on the left. If she can take positions that appeal to the middle of the spectrum of voters, she is only going to increase her popularity - I doubt the left would ever abandon her. This latest speech was clearly an indication that she understands that. I wonder how far this will go? She certainly has a good mentor; like him or not, her husband was brilliant at winning votes. I wouldn't trivialize a Hillary presidential candidacy just yet.
  14. Corrections Officer going through personal effects: One Timex digital watch, broken. One unused prophylactic. One soiled.
  15. ESPN page 2 article on the wonderlic test. 'Each year, about 2.5 million job applicants, in every line of work, take the Wonderlic. The average NFL combiner scores about the same as the average applicant for any other job, a 21. A 20 indicates the test-taker has an IQ of 100, which is average.' Charlie Wonderlic Jr., president of Wonderlic Inc., says, "A score of 10 is literacy, that's about all we can say."
  16. Maybe. But those conclusions sound more like personal opinions, and can hardly be based upon the questionable statistics provided. The only thing that is 'glaringly apparent' to me is this is not 'higher' education. It's fluff. A college education should provide more than a CNN soundbite.
  17. Things with motors and whirring blades are tools, not toys. I wonder how much he would charge to cut my lawn? 'Ladies and gentlemen, I'm Dave Szabo, and I'll be your pilot for your helicopter tour of Niagara Falls. Please ensure your air sickness sickness bags are strapped on properly and have a good seal before we take off.'
  18. Please stop staring at me in line. I'm trying to read as much of the tabloids as I can without buying them, and you're distracting me.
  19. That was totally uncalled for. I didn't see anywhere in the article where it states if she is a chink, a gook, a slope, a nip, or other ornamental.
  20. This the type of nonsense that gives college professors a bad name. The race make-up may be close, but it seems like trivia to me. Like one of those CNN 'factoid' things. Interesting how he throws in 11% of the world's population is homosexual, like anyone has a clue what the actual number is (out of every hundred people you know, 11 are homosexual? Maybe if you live in SF). He also adds in 'substandard' housing, where there is no worldwide standard, which makes me also wonder who's standard is used for malnutrition. Yes, there are people that suffer from both, but it's the numbers he's using that I question. Substandard and malnutrition are not concrete terms. But ok, given all that, there's a 'glaringly apparent' need to educate, understand and accept what exactly? He gets an F.
  21. Outstanding work you did compiling that cap information, that must have taken some time.
  22. Really far too little action to tell. I believe I remember a scramble out of the pocket while still looking downfield, and tossing a pass - IIRC it was dropped, but on target. The mistakes I would expect are throwing to the wrong place (Ben R. in the AFCC game), not happy feet.
  23. I've got a few parts of that down pretty well.
  24. Thanks for the links, I'll look at them. If anyone else has other recommendations, feel free to jump in here, but I don't want the thread to cross the line into advertising for a particular product, so please think about using PM if you're not sure.
  25. Thanks, I've heard good reviews of that RDPD series, been meaning to pick it up. I don't disagree there's some good MLMs out there, but I bet I could find some pretty vicious commentaries and reviews on any one you name - that's all I was saying. The research is pretty daunting. I've been looking at franchises lately; not too many of those appeal to me either, but there's a few interesting ones I plan to get more information on.
