I don't understand how this is an embarrassment to the front office. They pursued a player with a strong body of work, still had an interest in playing, but then made a decision to retire. How is that on the front office? They are trying to bring in players, but are not mind readers. Boldin retiring is actually a blessing for the Team, fans and Boldin. He did not look good in preseason and now gives an opportunity to a young, speedy, hungry WR.

I like the following: 1. Z. Jones - I think it's our #1 receiver. I liked his college tape, liked what he's done so far in the preseason games. Kid's good. 2. J. Matthews - Plenty of experience and body of work; still young; hopefully no lingering injury issues 3. R. Streater - *If not on IR; He's proven a reliable receiver. I think, so far, he's been ahead of Holmes with his catches. 4. A. Holmes - Based solely on his previous work, he should be higher. But, he hasn't impressed yet at camp or in games. But, he's capable. 5. B. Tate - Not great, but fairly reliable. 6. D. Shorts - I think the kids a gamer and will be an asset right when we need it 7. Dez Lewis - Make or break time. Show-up in a game, red-zone especially, and he stays. Got the physical size/skills to be helpful here.

100% in agreement. Boldin was probably not even thinking about playing this year. Had little to no offers. Bills made an offer, he thought long and hard on it. Gave it a go. But, just like Reggie Wayne (lasted two weeks on the Patriots), realized that he just didn't have it anymore. Sammy was: 1. Likely to get hurt again. 2. Going to be too expensive to resign after the season.

Complete the tank, McBean. Do it.

WOW - Shady is a waste? Amazing evaluator of talent. Here's my thoughts: It's not a tank, nor should it be. To acquire the first pick in the draft (most are assuming it should be a QB) guarantees you nothing!! How many 1st and 2nd overall QB picks have turned into successful franchise QBs? Reminder me where Russell Wilson and Dak Prescott were picked? I'd actually be happier with OL picks for the 1st round (build the OL like Dallas has done), then get you a QB and stud WR. But, for 2017, there's enough talent on this team to make a strong push for the playoffs. Jet and Dolphins are gonna suck bad this year. That's 4 games. Take care of the Patriots and we're in. KEEP SHADY! If Tyrod struggles, get don't hesitate on putting in Peterman. -

Thank you. These were my exact thoughts as well. I still have a good feeling about this team. Sammy was not the be-all-end-all. I like Zay better, actually. Boldin was old and slow - retirement now prior to the season starting did us a favor. The TE they signed from the 49ers looks like another BIG target. Nice red zone option IMO!! -

My Take on the game.

HAHAHA - playbook?? Really? Do you really think that was the playbook for the season? Everybody knows that preseason means vanilla play calling and not the actual regular season stuff. -

Bills Showing Interest in Josh Gordon?

As long as it's not the other way around!!! -
Why? just for the #1 pick? Who is worth that price? I mean, you really wish that much ill will towards the Bills? To be inevitably compared to the '08 Lions? This team has talent and deserves more. A zero win season would be massively disruptive. You think it's hard to get talented players to come now? You'll see players we draft refuse to sign. No, a zero win season would be a disaster.

Greatest WR you've seen in your lifetime
Houston's #1 Bills Fan replied to major's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like the question. I'd probably say Randy Moss, too. I think Rice is a very close second. T. Owens also impressed me, but I think his antics taints it a bit. If Odell wasn't such a headcase, he can/could be something special, too. That pass he caught is still unbelievable! But, speed, cut, pattern, and longevity, Moss and Rice. -
This. Although, jury's still out on Holmes. Needs to show me something in the next couple of preseason games. But, I liked seeing Lewis start looking like an NFL receiver and Shorts is high on my list. Z.Jones highlight film looked great. But, I want to see him in a game. Has all the potential in the world to be the #1 guy here. Boldin will be the guy we go to, but not every down. Keep him fresh for January!!

Go on record regarding the trades
Houston's #1 Bills Fan replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I initially voted no, but then I read a lot of the comments posted and I'm coming to the side of agreeing it was a good trade. I think it's good to get some good value out of Sammy while we could. There's that real fear that he was going to relapse and be out for several weeks with more foot issues. At that time or the end of the season, it would have been too late to deal him. So, if they (Bills brass) decided long ago that Sammy was not in their future plans, then it's the right move. I also do not feel that there is any intent from One Bills Drive to tank. There are still a lot of weapons on this team and the defense looked really good last night. If TT can get the ball to Boldin/ZJones/Dez/Shorts and/or Clay/O'Leary, then I think we are successful. Shady/JWill/Tolbert will continue to pound. I really feel that we can be a threat to NE. Jets are gonna suck and Miami doesn't have a chance with Cutler! GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
official "happy that Sammys gone" thread

Like him or hate him, he was still the best receiver on this roster. It's a hole in the offense now.
