  1. I understand if you're a cornerback and you're expecting help over the top. But that doesn't mean you can just give up on the play. You should be able to cover these guys 1-on-1. The safety is there for help, not to do your !@#$ing job for you.
  2. No, he didn't. We just didn't use him.
  3. Does he want a job? I think we may have a GM position opening up soon. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought he left because he couldn't work with Whaley?
  4. That's the only possible excuse I could come up with for Gilmore. The refs made it clear very early that the Jets receivers could push off constantly but our cornerbacks couldn't even be near them. Actually, another pretty good excuse is that he had zero help from the [non-existent] pass rush and [non-existent] safeties. When the coaches AND the players are terrible, there is no hope.
  5. Remember when Hughes got a personal foul for tackling Flacco by the ankles? You can't take a QB out of the game for a hit to the head and not call a penalty for a hit to the head.
  6. Exactly. The Broncos and Seahawks can commit terrible penalties all day long, but they won't get called because they're the poster teams of the NFL right now. We get called for breathing too close to the other teams because the NFL doesn't give a **** about us.
  7. I know the defense wasn't very inspiring, BUT... It's not entirely their fault. 6 points directly off bad officiating, and neither the refs nor the offense will let them get off the field and stay off. That offense, though... no excuses.
  8. That is absurd. The last holding call was about the only thing that was even remotely legitimate.
  9. That sucks for Marshall, but he got away with blatant offensive pass interference the catch prior to that. If the refs don't want to call an even game, people are gonna get facemasked to even the playing field.
  10. Without those terrible calls, they would have zero points right now. So I guess the defense is doing their job.
  11. The defense has looked really good so far. You can't defend against horrible 3rd down penalty calls.
  12. Considering at least two of our losses last year were directly attributable to horrific officiating, I think you're underestimating their affect on the game. If they score a touchdown here, that's 7-0 refs. And it's only the first drive. Just wait until we get a "roughing the passer" penalty on Hughes for cleanly tackling the quarterback.
  13. Grind it out -2 yards at a time, baby. Are any GM's or coaches available in the draft this year?
  14. Good lord. We have to say things like "at least it wasn't as bad as that one random game 13 years ago." That should answer your question.
  15. 23/34. 258. TD. Pretty good day for Flacco. And I don't think he even has to wash his jersey.
  16. Well, no. But other teams game planned for all that and decided they could win despite those qualifications. And they did. Because it's football and not real life. If my life sucked as hard and as long as the Bills have, I'd definitely be in trouble. Luckily, I can vent about these guys sucking at their jobs while maintaining my own satisfactory status quo.
  17. Okay, Chris Brown, we get it. The Bills are just about to turn this thing around.
  18. It's been going on a long time. At this point, I'd rather start someone with an unknowable floor / ceiling than keep watching a never-ending carousel of mediocrity. I'd much rather ride a 2-14 wave and then rebuild instead of dicking around in the .500 club for two decades.
  19. I've said this a lot tonight, but I don't think it can be overstated. "One game" is the difference between making the playoffs or going home early for the better part of two decades. One game is what teams are fighting for in the last few weeks of the season. And we just gave away yet another easy one that will come back to haunt us when we're 8-8 again. If we even manage that level of mediocrity this year.
  20. You may have a lot of posts, but you sure as hell haven't been around long enough to know how ridiculous this statement is.
  21. This. This so much. Being at this game, it felt like a foregone conclusion that the Ravens would suck and still beat us. There was absolutely no worry among the home crowd that we would beat their simplistic defensive scheme and laughable offense. And we were happy to oblige all day long. Absolutely nothing positive to report back about this game, except... Bills fans travel well, are the best fans in the league, and are rabidly loyal despite being continuously fed a garbage product.
  22. So when this list of yours turns out to be correct in their projections, I fully expect you to write a mea culpa and promptly run off the board.
  23. I don't subscribe to this line of thought. Today's game could have easily been a shutout with 14 defensive points scored. And we wouldn't have even had to try that hard. Flacco threw a few passes right to our defensive backs and their only points came off penalties and a blown coverage deep.
  24. Brilliant! Several teams gave up 30 and still won. We gave up 13 to an offense that looked like it was trying to give the ball away all day and we still lost by a touchdown.
  25. How many times over the last 15 years has one game been the difference between the playoffs or going home? I'll set the over / under at 5, and I think that's low.
