Tyrod Taylor on goal line pass in Jacksonville
MPT replied to JoshBarnett's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes. People mostly seem to be debating whether Dennison or Tyrod was at fault. I hated Dennison as our coordinator and I'm fully aware if Tyrod's limitations, but that was a touchdown if Kelvin just turned around without pushing off. The play call avoided running into a stacked box and Tyrod threw a perfectly placed ball. The fault lies with the receiver who was signed to make those exact catches and bungled it in the worst way. -
My bad, I was going by the $21 million figure that someone threw out there. Just can't trust anything these days. But my point remains. Mario Williams was a fine player, but he was never the game wrecker that his salary suggested. He'd have multi-sack games against bad opponents and disappear during important games. Surely you guys remember the frustration this caused?

By what metric? Fitz was 20-33 vs Tyrod's 22-20. TD:INT was 80:64 vs 51:16. QBR was 76 vs 96. This isn't meant as praise for Tyrod; I just don't think you can make a case that Fitz was better, or even as good. Edit & disclaimer: I loved Fitz when he was here too, so I'm not hating on him.

Are y'all high? He was a fantastic pass rusher, but that was all he could do and he got paid an absurdly overblown amount of money. Six years after his signing, defensive ends (including Super Bowl and NFL MVP's) still aren't making his average salary. That contract, like Dareus', was an embarrassment to the franchise.

O'Leary wasn't paying attention. But Tyrod should have thrown to the open guy at the sideline. -

First half was dominating. Second half is just like every other game so far. Offense can't catch the ball, defense allows chunk plays. -

That's the play we should have ran at the goal line. -

I don't mind the play call at the end of the half. If Benjamin hadn't pushed with an arm he would have been able to turn and catch the TD. So far we're playing way better than the Jags. Bortles is still due for an interception. -
Ugh how many times can people blame poor QB play on the O-line? THEY DON'T MATTER.

I hear things like this from Patriots fans a lot. When a blatantly biased call goes to their way, they'll say something like "well they've earned it." But no. They've earned Super Bowl rings, MVP trophies, first ballot hall of fame entry, gobs of endorsements, and eternal New England admiration. But they haven't earned the right to play by a different set of rules. That line of thinking shouldn't be acceptable to anyone, especially to the people who are constantly on the wrong end of it. It's reality, but that doesn't make it excusable. To the first point: he extended the ball and then pulled it back before his knee hit the ground. It's the same as if he gained the first down and then willingly ran backwards behind the first down marker before being tackled. Forward progress does not apply to backward motion if it is not caused by a defender. Second point: He tried to turn around, but the bear hug got in his way. Third point: True.

Unfortunately the Tom Brady / Bill Belichick dynasty makes a lot more money than Bills fans can undermine by boycotting TV subscriptions or merchandise. They will continue to get favorable treatment until Brady finally retires and Patriots fans go back to their holes until the next big thing. Or perhaps until they get caught cheating a third time. There must be a breaking point somewhere. Or not.
-
The problem is that the Bills got an extra fifteen yard penalty just for talking to the refs about it. When we end up on the short side for simply arguing the call, imagine what would happen if they took any action. We aren't allowed to do that, especially against the Patriots.
-
No, you should be banned because you are clearly a Patriots troll. You don't make points to agree or disagree with. It's just nonsense for the sake of confrontation.
-
People like to call out Hughes for his penchant for getting personal fouls, but he's never gotten one without being 100% correct in berating the referees. Fix the fixed system, and Hughes won't have anything to complain about. And who are these p***y referees that they need to call penalties for potty mouths and ignore the actual, relevant penalties that should be called on the field?
-
I am. He is a generational talent on the field and a hell of a personality in life. Dumb as rocks, certainly, but generally a pretty fascinating player.
-
I'm a fan of Gronk, and that was very out of character for him. But he still needs to be suspended for at least a game. That being said, everyone needs to acknowledge and be outraged by the fact that they called two personal foul penalties against the Patriots, including that absurd intent-to-injure against Gronkowski, and offset BOTH of them with one Bills personal foul, and then called an additional personal foul against the Bills that resulted in a fifteen yard loss. That is absolute horse****. How is this even allowed to happen? Because it's the Patriots.

I was a lot more excited to be flying to Buffalo for the Saints game before this debacle. Oh well. See y'all there! -

I don't think I said anything that crazy. Have you been watching this game? -

Also: garbage officiating. I know it doesn't matter too much, but when you call a phantom offside on an onside kick, you're just being an insufferable A-hole. -

I love that we're down 27 points in a game where Tyrod outplayed the opposing QB, and some people don't think there's anything wrong except our QB. Wish we had seen this passing offense earlier in the game. It's like our game plan is just running for negative yards on first down no matter what, and then hope Tyrod can escape a blitz on 2nd and long.
