  1. Right. If the Bills pay him, the writing is on the wall for McCoy.
  2. We need better players. Aside from Ross Cockrell, it's not like the other guys we've drafted have gone to other teams and had success. For the most part, our mid to late round picks have proven to not be NFL caliber players most of the time. The Bills need everything. They need a QB, they need 2-3 receivers, they need a right tackle, they need defensive line depth (we have nothing behind our starters), we need a LB, we need a CB, we need a bunch of safeties, and we need a kicker. The Bills roster is a mess.
  3. Coaches and the Front Office are fighting behind the scenes. One group wants to keep him, because he offers the best chance to win now, and the other wants to cut him. If we keep Taylor, it will show that the Bills are fully behind McDermott. If they cut him, it shows Brandon and Whaley are still in control.
  4. Of course that's what they need, but they appear to be too proud to admit it. I'm simply pointing out what I think they Bills should do. I think if they took Cleveland's approach and cleared space and accumulated picks that long term they'd be better off in 5 years than on our current path. IMO, this team is going nowhere as it's currently constructed. Our drafting for the last 7 years has been horrendous and the result is that we've got no foundation to build upon.
  5. Whaley/Nix's drafting has been horrendous. Our 2011-2013 draft classes produced 26 draft picks. Of those 26 draft picks, only 3 received a 2nd contract from the Bills. That's as bad as it gets, and unfortunately the 2014 or 2015 drafts don't look any better.
  6. I don't think it was a problem for the Sabres. And no, income wouldn't "plummet" because the vast majority of the franchise's income comes from guaranteed TV contracts. If Bills' management comes out and says, "We're rebuilding. Our plan is to be really bad for 2-3 years in our quest to draft an elite blue chip QB prospect, as well as other blue chip prospects who we can build around. We feel that will put us in the best position to be successful in 3 years, 5 years and 10 years," If they say that, I don't see why the fans wouldn't sign up considering that they signed up when the Sabres did the exact same thing. IMO the Bills' biggest problem has been their lack of a plan. They always seem to be chasing their tail and the result has been nothing but mediocrity. If they dedicate to a plan of being bad in the short term to be really good in the long term, and show they have a true plan, the fans should be receptive.
  7. Exactly. The point is this team isn't ready to win. The foundation of high paid mercenaries isn't sustainable. The Bills need to clear cap space and nail 2-3 years of draft picks to properly rebuild. The last 4 years of drafting has accomplished nothing and the result has been a team going backwards in the standings. 9 wins, then 8 wins, and now 7. The 2013 draft class is completely gone (unbelievable), the 2014 class has proven not good enough, and the 2015 class has provided very little. In the NFL, unless you draft well, or have a Hall of Famer at QB, you cannot compete without being highly successful in the draft. Being really bad and acquire some legit blue chip talent isn't a bad thing.
  8. The Depth Chart is currently Swiss Cheese. - nothing at WR (need a #2 and #3) - need a CB - need a SS - need a FS - need a WLB - need a RT - probably need a QB That doesn't even include our depth, which is non-existent. Good thing we have so many draft picks and so much cap space...
  9. I thought we got a compensatory 4th rounder?
  10. Taylor should go to Cleveland. With the number of draft picks they have and over $100 mil in cap space, he could turn them around really quickly.
  11. Draft the best player available. The Bills are pretty much devoid of any elite young talent. We haven't drafted a difference maker in 5 years.
  12. Keep building the team. The Bills haven't drafted a single long term building block since they drafted Marcell Dareus 5 years ago. All Whaley has done is add mediocre starters who are really only on the field because we don't have anyone better. Watkins is talented but he's not durable and I have no confidence in him signing a second contract here. The Bills aren't built to succeed long term. They can add a piece or two and maybe sneak into the playoffs for a year if everything goes perfect, but long term this team isn't going anywhere. We don't have anywhere close to enough good young talent and have been relying far too much on the free agent market to mask our flaws. Being really bad for 2-3 years isn't a problem. I'd rather load up on top 5 draft picks than keep finishing around .500 and missing the playoffs.
  13. Why not? He's been incredibly productive the last two years. He's a 3 down back who can run the ball, receive and pass protect. He also has tons of tread left on his tires. Like I said earlier, he could probably start for a dozen NFL teams. If they want to keep him long term, they're going to need to pay him.
  14. Agreed. If the Bills are serious about having a promising future, they should tank this year by cutting Taylor, McCoy and Kyle, and trading Watkins. Without those four guys, we don't win 4 games next year and will have a good shot at the #1 overall pick. Darnold is the real deal. Do everything possible to get that guy and set yourself at the QB spot for the next 10+ years.
  15. Cut him, cut McCoy, cut Kyle, trade Watkins and tank for Darnold. Without those four guys this team isn't winning more than 3 games next year.
  16. If they give Gillislee $4-$5 mil year I fully expect them to cut Lesean McCoy to free up cap space. In 2017 no one in the NFL is allocating 10% of their cap to the RB position.
  17. Gillislee could start for about a dozen teams in the NFL. He's a punishing between the tackles runner, has speed to take it to the house, is a capable receiver out of the backfield and can pass protect. He'd upgrade a lot of teams' rushing attack. He's more than just a good backup and we'll have to pay accordingly to keep him long term.
  18. I like Nathan Peterman's scouting report a lot. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/nathan-peterman?id=2558191 Pros - reads the whole field - throws with anticipation - good accuracy to all levels - good poise in the pocket Cons - only adequate arm strength - can sail some throws - limited mobility I'd take a look at him in the 3rd round. I think his floor is extremely high and I think he's got more upside than people think. It's hard to teach a guy to scan the whole field and throw with anticipation and those are clear strengths for Peterman.
  19. The 2013 QB class was a complete dumpster fire. There isn't a single starting QB from the bunch so being wrong about a bunch of terrible players isn't such a bad thing in my eyes. If you read what he said, he flat out says none of the guys in the 2013 class are elite, and that he doesn't think any are even as good as Ryan Tannehill (mediocre starter). He says he likes Nassib the most because of a few traits he displayed in college but never went out and said he thought he'd make a great NFL QB. It's not too hard to go from the 10th overall pick to having a shot at the #1 pick. My blueprint for how to do it: - downgrade the QB spot by a huge margin by cutting Taylor - cut your best offensive player (McCoy), designate him a post June 1 cut and save $6.25 mil in cap space - trade Sammy Watkins (if the Saints can be trying to trade Brandon Cooks, why can't we trade Sammy) - leave the defense as is - bring back Dan Carpenter Against the upcoming schedule, that team isn't winning more than 2 or 3 games.
  20. Hard to argue with any of what Cosell says. If the Bills want to cut Taylor and tank for Darnold, go right ahead. I'm fully on board with that idea. Just don't cut him, tell me you still think you're close and then sign some journeyman QB who can win us 5 games this year under the premise management still thinks we're close. The Bills aren't close to the playoffs, and if they want to cut Taylor, and cut McCoy, and start rebuilding for the future, I have no problem with that.
  21. The Jets are in full tank mode and have bought a ticket into the Sam Darnold sweepstakes.

  23. If we cut him this year and designate him a post June 1st cut we clear $6.25 mil in cap space. Maybe McCoy's job isn't secure. In 2017 you can't justify allocating that much money to the RB spot.
  24. It's debatable in the sense that it's really hard to make a case either franchise is better.
  25. Reports are coming out saying Gillislee might get $4 to $5 mil/year. Seems awfully expensive for a backup running back when your starter makes over $8 mil/year.
