Peterman wins the game by the game by 10.
jrober38 replied to PinOak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd much rather have Sammy Watkins and Robert Woods over Jordan Matthews and Zay Jones, and it's not even remotely close. -
The defense is fine. The offense is clearly a work in progress. We need a QB and we need to rebuild the WR corps. I agree that 2019 is the earliest we'll be good, but I guess I don't consider that too far away when we've been rebuilding for the past 20 years. If we find the right QB this team will get a whole lot better in a hurry.

Sammy Watkins is an explosive play maker. Jordan Matthews is a possession receiver. One guy you game plan for, and the other you just tackle when he catches the ball 5-10 yards from the LOS. Matthews doesn't scare anyone. He's nothing close to being a true #1 WR in the NFL. -
Like I said, see what you have the final 4-5 weeks of the season. Thinking Peterman will be anything other than a complete train wreck over a 14 game stretch is ridiculous. You'll be starting Taylor again by the end of October....

I dunno. Maybe Cordy Glenn being hurt plays a part. He is after all our best lineman. Really? Why on earth would anyone think the offense is going to play better? I won't be surprised if we're shut out next week. We looked pretty good against a team that is actively trying for the #1 overall pick and got obliterated by the Panthers who had the 21st defense in the NFL a year ago. This is going to be a bottom 5 scoring offense in the NFL this year. We don't have any talent aside from McCoy. -
Hope is already lost. Anyone who thinks this team has a shot at the playoffs is crazy.

I agree with the first part but disagree with the second portion. You're absolutely right in saying this season is meaningless. Aside from figuring out a little bit about our coach and if their tendencies and personality make him look like a potential winner with a better roster, this season is a meaningless one. As for the second part, I don't think the rebuild has to be a long one. The Bills have an elite defense with most of the key pieces locked up long term. If they can find a half decent QB and rebuild at the WR position by adding a legit #1 who can actually stretch the defense, we could wind up being better sooner than people think. Who knows if we'll draft the right QB, but if we do I think the quality of this defense could allow for a quick turn around.

Where are the wins coming from the rest of the way?

I think we go 4-12. Worse if anyone important gets injured and misses time. -

I totally agree with this, but who is he supposed to push the ball down field to? Our receivers don't scare anyone. We don't have a single guy who is a threat to get behind a defense. -

Rookie QBs turn the ball over. There were plenty of other QBs around the NFL today who were turning the ball over left right and centre. Taylor is terrible, but somehow he manages to rarely turn the ball over. That will almost certainly end with a green as grass rookie chucking the ball to the other team 2-3 times a game. Then we go from losing by 6 to losing by 20. As I told people all summer, the Bills have zero receivers who any NFL calibre safety has to respect beating them on a deep ball. The Bills will face nothing but 8 and 9 man fronts this season because we don't have a receiver who can run a route more than 10 yards downfield. Although underused, Sammy Watkins commanded a secondary's attention. The same cannot be said for any of our current pass catchers. -
People love Peterman simply because he isn't Tyrod Taylor. This has been going on for years. When we had Bledsoe, everyone wanted JP. When we had JP, everyone wanted Trent. When we had Trent, everyone wanted Fitz. When we had seen Trent AND Fitz, everyone wanted Brian Freaking Brohm. When we had EJ, some people legitimately wanted Tuel. Now we have Taylor, and some people are driven to thinking Nate Peterman is an upgrade. This season does not matter. All that matters is which QB the Bills draft next year in the 1st round and whether or not they're good enough to turn this franchise around.

The Bills are a bottom 5 NFL team because their offense is among the worst in the league. We're bad at QB, have a subpar OL, have nothing at WR, nothing at TE and one capable RB. This offense is terrible and Peterman isn't making them any better. I totally agree. I've been saying for months I think this is a 4-12 team, but at that point why on earth would we be trying to win games?

Peterman, a 5th round rookie who looked okay in the preseason against 2nd and 3rd stringers, would have been a train wreck today. The Bills have no run game, no one who can run a threaten a defense beyond 10 yards in the pass game and an offensive line who can't block. The Bills' offense across the board is terrible. Aside from McCoy, we have zero difference makers on that side of the ball and Peterman would have been eaten alive today. The Bills are below average at every position on offense except running back, and anyone with a half decent defense is going to completely dominate us. Next week against Denver isn't going to be worth tuning in for because I'm not sure we're capable of scoring on them. This game showed the Bills are in full fledged rebuilding mode. With what's guaranteed to be a bottom 5 scoring offense, we aren't winning more than 5 games. -
The Bills can play Peterman the final 4-5 weeks of the season. We don't need to see him before then.

The Bills offense is terrible. Below average QB, below average OL, below average at TE, way below average at WR. Aside from McCoy, we've got nothing. -

Aside from McCoy, the Bills have zero talent on offense at the skill positions. We have no play makers in the pass game. -
What would the Bills have to do against the Jets....
jrober38 replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nothing. The Jets are the worst team in football and it's not close. Doesn't matter if we beat them by 20, they're going to have the worst offense in the league and one of the worst defenses. They'll be lucky to win 3 games. -
NYJ Trade Richardson to SEA for Kearse & 2nd Rnd Pick

The Jets might not win a game this year. They're as bad a team as I think I've ever seen. -
I'll give the Bills a pass. They have a roster that's in transition, and holding on to Taylor as a band aide while we get rid of our dead weight and create a new culture inside the locker room while accumulating draft assets shows that the Bills at least have a plan. They didn't trade the pick because they were scared of picking a QB and having them fail; they did it because they recognize the roster isn't good enough to support the development of a young QB this year, and they need to spend a year rebuilding the foundation before adding a young signal caller to the fold. If Mahomes is a stud, it will obviously hurt, but I have faith in the Bills adding their own really good young QB next year, and am hoping that player winds up in a better situation to succeed than they one Mahomes would have found this season.
-
Sure. I'd have no problem with developing him if you can get him in the 3rd or 4th round. The point is moot though, because we already seem to have a developmental QB, and I'm fairly certain that we're going to go all in on drafting a QB early in the first round next year.

The players definitely know. I don't see how this could even be up for debate. Every player who kneels or puts their fist up is putting a bulls eye on their back, that could jeopardize their continuing employment at the NFL level. -

Just because he's getting paid by the 49ers doesn't mean he's employed by them... -

LOL You just proved my point. If you take away your comment of "no one wants to waste their time on a demonstrative not very good player" then he'd almost certainly have a job in the league. He's been black balled because he took a stance. Stop trying to justify it for other bogus reasons. -

It does, but none of us know how much money he wants so how can we have a proper discussion about that playing a part in his unemployment?
