  1. We should just target Mayfield with our 1st round pick. He'll probably be available in the 12-20 range, which is where we'll end up picking. Then cut Tyrod, bring in a cheap veteran, and let Mayfield, Peterman and the vet compete for the job. Then spend the rest of our picks fixing the defensive front seven.
  2. To move from where we'll be picking into the top 4 will cost a fortune. It will gut the roster of talent for years to come and shouldn't be something we're considering.
  3. I don't think this is true. Tryod is a fine NFL QB and he could make a lot of teams around the league better. Denver and Jacksonville would probably view him as a huge upgrade right now over what they have. He has a high floor, but a low ceiling. He doesn't make mistakes, but he also doesn't produce many big positives either. Having watched him for 2.5+ years, he's not good enough to be our QB because we're currently looking long term. We traded away several of our best players with the hope of being a contender for years to come, and the move to see what Peterman has obviously echos our long term rebuilding plan. Our plan doesn't mean Taylor is a bad player though. Anyone who has a defense and a running game could use him as their starter. He's the type of guy who if you have an elite defense can be effective because he never turns the ball over. As I said, Denver, Jacksonville and Baltimore would love to have him right now. He'd make all of those teams better. The issue is that if you don't have a defense, what's the point in having him around? He's never going to produce big passing yards or big point totals, and with a rebuilding roster we might as well move onto the next option because by the time we're actually good, Taylor won't be around anyways.
  4. The vast majority of the decisions the Bills made this year strongly suggested they're building to win in the future, and that anything positive that happens this year is them playing with house money. They traded Watkins They traded Darby They traded Dareus These were decisions that weren't going to make us better this year, and the Peterman decision is no different. McDermott thinks Peterman has a better shot of being our long term QB than Taylor, and because they think that they want to see him on the field now.
  5. Only a fraction of the Bills' revenue comes from ticket sales. Assuming a QB will put more people in the stands, when they already sell out most games, is a poor assumption.
  6. The fact that he hasn't made the decision yet suggests they're going to roll with Peterman. McDermott made every excuse for the guy and used all the punch lines he used last week. This guy has all the power in the world at OBD and no one to answer to. He signed off on trading Sammy, he signed off on trading Darby, he signed off on trading Dareus. He doesn't give a crap what anyone thinks, and he's going to play the guy they like at QB, and that's Peterman.
  7. I don't think they can. To move from the 15-20 range into the top 5 would cost an astronomical number of draft picks. What about the defense? Currently: 25th in total D 23rd in points allowed 24th in pass yards 25th in rush yards This defense is horrendous, and getting worse on a weekly basis.
  8. The Bills roster is a mess. We have one impact player on the whole roster in Lesean McCoy and I'm not joking when I say our second best player is our kicker. Aside from that, we're below average across the depth chart. QB - below average RB - no depth WR - no elite talent TE - no elite talent OL - below average DL - below average LB - below average CB - below average S - below average The Bills are lucky they have so many draft picks because they seriously need to find some impact players.
  9. The Bills defense is terrible. It's a collection of guys who would be backups on the vast majority of NFL teams. It needs to be rebuild from scratch. We need to invest a ton of draft picks into the front seven.
  10. After listening to McDermott on WGR today I'll be shocked if they don't go to Peterman again. He compared Peterman to Zay Jones, who he admitted had a very difficult start to the season, but they stuck with him and supposedly think he's doing a good job now. He seemed to think that this was a blip and Peterman will continue to improve with playing time. McDermott seems all in on developing Peterman ahead of Taylor, and he seems willing to jeopardize this season to do it. Unfortunately our defense is so bad it won't matter because we can't stop anyone from scoring.
  11. I agree with this. Prior to this season I thought the Bills had one of the worst rosters in the NFL. Somehow we over achieved the first 7 weeks, and since then we've looked like on of the 3-4 worst teams in the league which is what I expected all along. This roster is a mess. Our OL is below average (why on Earth is Ducasse still on the field), we have zero talent at WR without Benjamin, we don't have a competent backup running back, and our defense is a complete dumpster fire. We can't stop the pass or the run, and we have no pass rush whatsoever. Lawson looks mediocre at best, Kyle looks washed up, we have no depth or upcoming talent at DT and our linebackers are all useless. The Bills are one of the worst teams in the league right now. I'm not sure they'll win more than 1 or 2 of their remaining games.
  12. This team has zero talent. We have Lesean McCoy, and the rest of the roster is filled out with guys who would be backups on the vast majority of the NFL's teams.
  13. Who cares. This team is a dumpster fire right now. This defense can't stop anything. Aside from Lesean McCoy, this team has zero talent. Our DL is a mess, our linebackers don't do anything, our secondary can't cover, we can't pass protect, and we don't have any weapons in the pass game. This team might be 5-5, but they look like arguably the worst team in the NFL right now.
  14. Or Peterman wasn't ready week 1, but now he is and they think he's the best option at QB. Throwing a rookie to the wolves week 1 before having some time to learn what it is to be NFL player would have been a disaster.
  15. Denver makes a lot of sense. Otherwise it's hard to find a spot that makes much sense.
  16. This had to happen. The Bills are going nowhere with Taylor at QB and they need to beat the Chargers to make the playoffs. This move had to happen now, because next week probably would have been too late.
  17. The Jets (Pryor) and Saints (Jordan) both told us that their game plan was to keep Tyrod in the pocket and make him be a QB. We've heard this in previous seasons as well. If that's how the Bills are going to be played, they're in big trouble because Taylor isn't effective in that role. If we fall behind and the defense knows he's passing, we're screwed and need to be turning to the backup QB.
  18. I don't think the FO is under any pressure. They're playing with house money right now and I think everyone inside OBD knows Tyrod isn't our long term future. If Tyrod lays another egg in the 1st half against the Chargers there's no way they don't give him the hook. At that point you're trying to save the season and you need to get Peterman on the field to see what happens. Taylor and the whole offense have been a total train wreck the last two weeks. With a legit shot to break the playoff drought this year, you don't just stick with Tyrod because it's supposedly the safe thing to do. Changes need to be made sooner than later if the on field performance doesn't change.
  19. The good news is that we're currently in a playoff spot and everyone behind has also has a tough road to the playoffs. I'm flat out eliminating all the 3 win teams. None of them are running the table to get to 10 and 6 and I don't see any of them winning 6 of 7 to get to 9 and 7. They're all out. That leaves the Raiders, Ravens, and Dolphins. The Raiders (who we beat), still have to play: Pats, Broncos, Giants, @ Chiefs, Cowboys, @ Eagles, @ Charges. I see at least 2 losses here, probably 3 .That puts them at 9-7 or more likely 8-8. The Ravens still have to play: @ Packers, Texans, Lions, @ Steelers, @ Browns, Colts, Bengals. I see another 2 losses, although I'm not sold on the 3rd one. That puts them at 9-7, hopefully 8-8. We're all HUGE Packers fans this weekend. Last is the Dolphins, in addition to playing us twice, they play: @ Carolina, Tampa, @ New England, Denver, New England, @ KC. I see 3, maybe 4 losses here. Without playing us, that puts them at 7-7 or 6-8. Unless they beat us twice, they have no shot at the playoffs. Knowing what we know about the competition, the Bills need to get to 9 wins. If they win this Sunday, they probably get there (def better than 50-50). If they lose this Sunday, I think the wheels probably come off and we finish no better than 8-8. The bottom line is this - the AFC is terrible this year. 9-7 legitimately might make the 2nd wildcard, and given how inconsistent everyone is, 8 wins might get it done. All I know is we need to win Sunday against the Chargers to have any real shot.
  20. This is much better than the garbage we've seen from Taylor the last few weeks. We should be making a change at QB this week. Taylor can't perform at QB if the defense isn't playing at a high level, and for the sake of not giving up on the season we need to make a change at QB.
  21. I haven't been posting much lately because I never expected the Bills to be successful this season and have generally just been enjoying the ride, but this thing is about to fly off the rails unless the coaches shake things up. I've thought Taylor was the best QB on the roster and a pretty good overall NFL QB for the last few years, but with a struggling defense and two straight blow out losses, I think the Bills need to make a change at QB. Taylor isn't built to lead an offense that needs to play from behind, and in any game where we have to abandon the run and lose our balance on offense, we've always been screwed and I don't expect anything different in the coming games. I watched the Notre Dame-Miami game the other night, and as soon as Notre Dame got down, they benched their QB because Wimbush was never the type of QB to lead them back from a big deficit because he's not a good enough passer. Hearing the Jets, and now the Saints once again tell the NFL that the way to beat up on our offense is to "make Tyrod be a pocket passer", we need to make a change because that's what every team is going to make him do for the rest of the season. The Bills' lack of talent has been exposed the last two weeks, and Taylor is no longer the best QB on this roster. Without a strong defense, and an efficient running game, his style is destined to result in more blow out losses because he can't sustain drives when asked to make plays from within the pocket. If we want to continue pushing for a playoff spot, we need to make a change at QB and insert Peterman into the starting lineup, because as a pocket passer I don't see how he can be any worse than what we saw the last two weeks. The Chargers game is absolutely a must win if we want to make the post season, and McDermott needs to shake things up or else risk another blow out loss with upcoming games at the Chiefs and against the Pats on the schedule. This could quickly spiral out of control, and we could wind up with 9 or 10 losses if we don't right the ship immediately.
  22. I disagree. Most of the times Jones is thrown the ball the defender is draped all over him because he can't create any separation. Defenders just sit in his back pocket and break on the ball when it's in the air. A lot of passes are catchable because they're hitting him in the hands, but they're still contested because he can't shake man coverage.
  23. So far Zay Jones has been everything the negatives on his scouting report said he could be. http://www.nfl.com/combine/profiles/zay-jones?id=2557863 plays slow doesn't stretch the field doesn't have a second gear to create separation unable to shake tight coverage limited after the catch His "bottom line" said he needs to show he can create separation if he's going to ever become anything more than a reserve at the NFL level, and so far he's failed miserably in that area.
  24. Matthews is a terrible fit on this team because he runs the type of routes over the middle of the field that Taylor has never successfully targeted. Taylor excels throwing the ball down the field, outside the hashes to speedy receivers, and that's what Matthews and Jones are worst at. Neither of them offers anything beyond 10 yards. I said it last week and I'll say it again, Taylor and Martavis Bryant would be lethal. With Bryant and Thompson on the outside with sub 4.4 speed, and Matthews working out of the slot, our passing game could actually be pretty good and Shady would face a lot fewer 8 man fronts.
  25. The Bills receivers are terrible. They could add the #4 WR from most teams around the NFL and he'd probably be the best receiver we have on the roster.
