They're in a playoff spot.

What do you fix first? OL or QB?
jrober38 replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills are 100% drafting a QB this year. They're going to get rid of Tyrod, sign a cheap vet, and hang on to Peterman as a long term backup. They'll fix the rest of the team over the next 2-3 years. -
Does the D line need a complete rebuild also?
jrober38 replied to Socal-805's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Our defensive front seven needs to be completely rebuilt. We have zero talent up front. We need a couple new DTs, a couple DEs, and two linebackers. -
Lawson was another wasted 1st round pick from the Whaley era. When you go back and look at the guys we drafted during the Whaley/Nix years, it's nothing short of a complete disaster. This team has zero players to build around. It's shocking how bare the cupboard is.
-
If it were that easy, I'm sure they'd be doing it. If they blitz and don't get home, which has been the case for most of the year when they've tried it, they'll get torched on the back end. The Bills D is really bad. We have zero players who we can build around. It's just a collection of backup calibre players.

The players on our defensive line aren't good. A different scheme isn't going to make our pass rush any better. There's no talent up front.

The public isn't ready to watch NFL players brawl on the field. If the NFL wants to clean up the game they need to strip off the pads and let these guys punish their bodies without helmets and shoulder pads to use as weapons. None of these helmet to helmet hits would happen if the guys doing the hitting weren't wearing helmets.

First segment of WGR morning show today
jrober38 replied to Big Blitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The morning show guys hate Tyrod. Doesn't matter what happens, Jeremy has to spin every single thing that happens into Tyrod not being good enough. When he's bad, he tells you how awful he is, and when he has good games, he'll just tell you that Tyrod is never going to win a Super Bowl and that in his eyes he's not good enough. He wants one of the top 4-5 QBs in the NFL, and anyone who isn't one of those guys is garbage in his eyes. -
I couldn't care less about how tall he is. And I don't see Leaf comparisons. The guy seems to love football and is highly competitive. He's a great passer and he seems to make the players around him better. Picking a guy in the middle of the 1st round isn't dumpster diving.
-
Lots of good franchise QBs weren't the #1 overall pick. The notion that we need the "best" prospect is flawed.
-
I don't see why they can't. Just franchise Garoppolo on a 1 year deal, and draft a QB. Let those two guys compete, then make a decision after the 2018 season. Having two quality QBs compete for the job would be in their best interests as opposed to going all in on a guy who has played 6 quarters of meaningful regular season football.
-
There is no chance Tyrod is coming back. And I agree, they need a 1st round QB, I just don't they need to be set on trading up to get one. We need to add 5-6 new starters to the defense if this team is going to compete. A couple new DTs, a new DE, a couple LBS, a CB. It's great that we have a bunch of picks, but we need to find a couple impact players from this draft. Trading the whole farm for a shot at a QB isn't going to solve our problems. The whole roster is a mess.
-
They have like $100 mil in cap space. They can do whatever they want.
-
Tyrod is done here. He's cut as soon as the season ends. The Bills don't need to trade up into the top 5 for a QB. All that will do is gut the roster of the necessary talent it needs to compete. Without massive upgrades to the defense this team is going nowhere regardless of who is playing QB. Once we lose some more games, we'll probably wind up picking in the 12-16 range. We can pick the best guy there, and then use the rest of our picks upgrading the rest of the roster which quite simply isn't good enough. This team is Swiss Cheese.
-
I never said it was. I was pointing out that the notion it won't cost a lot to trade up for a QB is ridiculous. With so many teams in need of a QB, it will cost as much as it ever would (three first rounders plus more picks).
-
What are the odds of us finding the next Carson Wentz? 1 in 25?
-
No. Given the way things have transpired we should be trying to win and change the culture in the locker room. If we were worried about competition for QBs, we should have traded McCoy before the season started.
-
Too many teams need a QB. Bills, Jets, Jags, Broncos, Browns, Steelers, Cardinals, Giants, Redskins will all need a starter. There will be tons of teams looking for QB help this year.
-
Not in the fashion it will have happened. The Bills seemed to be changing the culture when they were 5-2. If they finish 5-11, this regime's first season will be judged as a disaster in my eyes. If they go from 5-2 to 5-11, I'd seriously consider cleaning house and bring in someone else to clean up their mess.
-
It's okay. The Bills will lose Sunday after making the struggling Chief's look like the team who blew out the Pats week 1. The defense will get torched again and it should be another blow out loss. Then in a week we'll go back to Peterman for the remainder of the year so we can evaluate him prior to next season. Hopefully by then he'll have a full compliment of receivers on offense, but it won't be enough to overcome our awful defense.
-
That's not even close to enough compensation. It will cost THREE first round picks, plus additional picks to move from the mid 1st round into the top 4.
-
Taylor works for a team who can play defense and run the ball. Unfortunately that's not us. Our defense is a train wreck like I've never seen before and Taylor doesn't throw the ball well enough to compensate. The Bills are rebuilding. Aside from the strange Benjamin trade, every other move we've made has suggested that. They need to find a QB, and 5-6 new starters for the defense. Although the AFC is terrible, this team isn't going to contend for anything until the defense becomes a heck of a lot better.
-
Between 0 and 2. The defense is a train wreck, but the Colts and Dolphins are really bad teams. Should win 1 or 2 of those games, but I won't be surprised if we lose out.
