Unfortunately the draft will probably go like this..
jrober38 replied to Bakin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nope. Indy wanted Barkley, but they just traded down indicating they don't think there's any chance he's available when they pick. My guess is Indy knows something we don't (Barkley is going in the top 2). -
Totally agree. The Browns are guaranteed a top 3 QB, of which there is zero consensus on who is the best of the bunch. If they pass on Barkley, he won't be there when they pick 4th. Seems like a pretty easy decision. Get Barkley, and then get one of the QBs. They can't risk it.
-
Is he though? Like what are you basing that off?

The Giants aren't taking Rosen #2. The NFL doesn't like Rosen as much as fans think they do. There are real concerns about his mental make up and shoulder problems.
-
My top 5: 1. Browns - Barkley - focal point of their offense for the next 6-8 years 2. Bills - Mayfield - winner, accurate, right mental make up, wants to be great 3. Jets - Darnold - prototypical QB 4. Browns - Allen - sits behind Tyrod for a year and learns. Inherits a very good 2019 team with Barkley, Gordon, Landry and Njoku. 5. Broncos - Chubb - elite edge rusher to upgrade the defense
-
This seems like a pretty serious contradiction. Calling a guy "old school" for why he won't pick a running back early, when in the past running backs were frequently picked very early, doesn't make sense.
-
Yup. Seems pretty obvious to me. If Barkley goes #1, we'll trade up to #2.
-
No chance Barkley makes it to #4 overall.

Reality is this: There are 3 teams left in the entire league who "desperately" need a QB, and two others in the top 10 who could take one. Let's look at the big picture. Desperate needs: Cleveland - they're taking a QB with one of their picks. My guess is they pick Barkley to solidify their back field and give the team some star power, and come back with the 4th pick to draft Josh Allen NY Jes - they're getting one of the top 3 guys. Bridgewater and McCown aren't long term options. Buffalo - we're paying McCarron backup money, and have stockpiled draft picks to trade into the top 5. Teams who could use an upgrade, but also need a lot of things: NY Giants - they have Eli who ownership felt was benched incorrectly last year. Barkley is their #1 player and they guy they'll pick if he's available. I don't think he will be, and when that happens I think they move down, stockpile picks and give Eli a much improved supporting cast to play his last year with. A developmental guy will be added later Denver - they just gave Case Keenum a two year $36,000,000 contract with $26,000,000 guaranteed. Elways knows his team is built to win now with better QB play. They have a veteran offense and defense and although they "need" a QB, the contract says Keenum is the guy they're going to build around for two years Needs but aren't in a position to get a top QB: Miami - Tannehill isn't the guy and they need his replacement. Arizone - Bradford and Glennon are place holders The NFL is a win now league. The regime in Denver is on the hot seat and adding a QB who is going to sit on the bench doesn't help them this year. The Giants need a QB, but with a rookie coach who has a long leash, they can fill holes and build around Eli for one or two more seasons while stockpiling picks.

Nope. The Giants want Barkley. They haven't had a run game in years and Barkley in the back field with Beckham on the outside would be lethal. Until the Giants know for sure if Barkley is available, they're holding on to the pick. If (when Barkley) goes #1 overall, the Giants will trade down and stock pile picks.
-
I don't think this is true at all. People are jumping to conclusions. One of two things are going to happen: 1. Browns pick Barkley #1 overall, Giants trade down and accumulate picks. 2. Browns pick a QB #1 overall, Giants pick Barkley. The Giants aren't trading their pick until they know if they can get Barkley.

The Jets Just Made a Mistake

Naw, there's no shot that happens. What I'm saying is what's going to happen. Everything they've done so far makes sense. Tyrod is the steady hand at QB, with Josh Gordon stretching the field (what Tyrod does best) and Landry working the slot. Njoku can stretch the seem at the TE spot. Barkley gives their run game instant credibility. Allen is the guy they love (has been reported on and off for a while now), and having Tyrod allows them to red shirt him for a year and then insert him into a supremely talented offense in 2019. Wait and see. -

I don't think the Giants or Broncos are convinced they need a QB. The Giants have holes all over the field and could try to rebuild around Eli for a year or two (not saying I'd do this but money, aka draft picks, talk). The Broncos have an aging team and are in win now mode. They just gave Case Keenum $26 mil guaranteed and could easily role with him for the next two years. Giving them a ton of picks would allow them to upgrade at RB and on the offensive line. I think both teams would trade down if given a reason to. I think the Broncos are the more likely of the two given how good their defense is they could be looking at a very quick turnaround with above average QB play. -

Browns are going to take Barkley #1 and Allen #4. I guarantee it. -

I think there's still a chance the Bills move up to #2 overall. They've got the ammo, it's just a matter of whether or not they pull the trigger. -

We don't know. NFL GMs probably do. I'll go out on a limb and say the Jets definitely tried to move higher than 3rd overall, and it was probably made pretty clear that #1 and #2 aren't available or the cost of acquiring either pick didn't make sense. The Browns are going to take Barkley #1 overall (I think they view him as the best player in the draft and will be happy with whatever QB is there with the 4th pick), and the Giants are going to auction off the 2nd pick when the time comes. Maybe someone makes the trade, and maybe they don't. My guess is that when it's all said and done, someone offers the Giants a king's ransom and they move down 3-10 spots and draft an impact player. The Eagles moved up a few years ago without knowing if they'd get Wentz or Goff. The Jets just did the same thing IMO. They have 2 guys rated really similarly and they'll be happy with either one. -

I don't think this is bad for the Jets. They have 3 really high grades on QBs and just guaranteed themselves a shot at drafting one of them. As for how it affects the Bills, I don't think it's the end of the world. I think the Browns are going to take Barkley #1 overall because they'll know that they can still draft one of the top 3 QBs. One of the top QBs could still theoretically be available when the 5th pick comes up and we already know Indy is looking to move down. We could target one of those picks and get one of the QBs without having to move into the top 2. -
Josh Allen one of the most overrated QB prospects this decade
jrober38 replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
NFL GMs are consistently wrong. Terrible QBs get drafted in the 1st round every year. Just because someone will take Allen in round 1 doesn't mean it's a good decision. -
He's out of the NFL. His agent should be looking for a job in the CFL.
