The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
shoshin replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Oldmanfan summed it up perfectly. Stop whining and lead. We have never had such a whiny B word as president. Be a man ffs. -
Trump's Legal Machine Grinds to a Halt
shoshin replied to WideNine's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Well there it is. Comments on the Internet are evidence of rigged election and mail slowdowns. This is what we kinda knew Trump was relying on and now we really know. I assume more reasonable Trump supporters are seeing this sham by now. -
Covid vaccine real world experiences
shoshin replied to GaryPinC's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I think 480K doses is 240K patients that can be vaxxed but I'm not sure from that press release. Either way, great real world numbers and probably indicates that by the end of Jan, they'd have gotten everyone. -

The second item in particular. Good work Strike Farce! -
They should do it again. I saw a rolling suitcase somewhere.

Darnold won't land here. Jets will probably trade him but not to us. I'll be fine with a Jameis Winston/Andy Dalton.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
shoshin replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
100%. I assume she'll be the first person I know to get a vaccine (though my brother and his wife are nurses who work on Covid floors in Buffalo so they will be up there too). We should all share the early experiences, just to spread the good news. The Calvary is coming. -

PPP posts could be next. -
What Vindman reported happened actually happened. We know that from the call. What Section 135 Mighty Taco said...who knows but barring it undergoing scrutiny in a court of law or at least by skeptics, dubious. He’s just a guy with a story, and those stories aren’t amount to much at this point but noise and Tweets.

The future for both parties and realignment
shoshin replied to Big Blitz's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This shows that the Republican party is more ideologically diverse, which doesn't surprise me. It is overall a bigger tent. That also makes it more likely to fracture. I am ardently anti-Trump and the religious right, but still identify with the principles of classical liberalism (small government, less intrusion) that may exist somewhere in the party, hard as it is to find these days. I am in the lower right quadrant, apparently the least populated one. -
The issue that lead to impeachment/Ukraine ultimately rested on the record of the president's call, not Vindman who reported on it. Once Vindman reported the issue, his role in that was pretty much limited to describing his reporting about what he heard. What he said happened on the call pretty much happened. How it was interpreted, whether it was impeachable: That's another question. The Bills guy in the video is some guy who has provided no proof that any court accepts to show fraud. He's a step above Twitter-evidence but only a small step. I was never a Mighty Taco guy (a taco is a taco in my book, not an opinion I hold about wings) but I do associate it with Buffalo.

Biden's Foreign Policy
shoshin replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Here's a thought. Biden could be tough on Putin and retain the chilly relationship with China. China is a tougher nut to crack but we need to stand firm. They are the real enemy. Russia is just an annoyance. -
The fact that it's being talked about almost ensures that it will happen.

Assuming this stat is a good measure of D-line play, the fact that the Bills ranked so tightly with others but struggled against the run (before the last few weeks) suggest poor LB play. Stated another way, it would show that the D-line is OK vs run compared to others...but still gives up tons of yards....meaning players not on the D-line are to blame.

Supreme Court backs religious freedom over restrictions!
shoshin replied to JaCrispy's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I have not read the case but from that CNN article, this was interesting. A lawyer for the church said that while religious worship is at times "severely restricted," grocery stores, big box retails stores, laundromats and warehouses do not have similar restrictions."The disparate treatment of religious as compared to similar nonreligious congregate gatherings unquestionably and substantially burden the Churches' exercise of religion and violates the First Amendment," the lawyer said. It sounds like CA grouped certain businesses into essential vs non-essential, putting churches in the later category. I can see the difference between Wegmans and St. Mary's but I'm not losing sleep over this decision. -
In the past cases, the pardon was not done for activity done at the behest and/or close knowledge of the president signing the pardon. If Trump or one of his family were charged (unlikely but at least possible), Biden would do well to pardon him in the same way Ford pardoned Nixon. I would also think the pardon would have to be somewhat specific. Not sure a blanket pardon is a thing but I put very little past Trump.

Sydney Powell has all the Evidence of Voter Fraud

(If you want to start a thread about etymological discussions of phrases, may I nominate, "There's more than one way to skin a cat." WTF?!?) -

And yet that's the understood meaning, so the mathematical one is irrelevant in conversation. And assuming you understand that, your point is also irrelevant and doesn't address the argument that the massively complicated engine to pull off this conspiracy--proved so far by the hivemind on Twitter but as yet entirely unproven in court--is less likely than just this: More people voted for Biden than Trump. -
The Democrats very bad election day
shoshin replied to Big Blitz's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
The best thing to come out of fracking is that the Pegulas outbid Trump. -
Lay off the late night Mighty Taco runs! And based on the photo from the Fox interview, maybe skip the doobies every once in a while. That guy looks baked!

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
shoshin replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
My wife works for the local health system, directly with super sick patients in their homes in home care. Today they had a meeting where they were told they expect vaccines within the next 10 days and will be distributing them based on job (covid-exposed workers first) by lottery. My wife is in the first group it seems and will be getting the vaccine as soon as she's able. I saw this as a really good bit of non-political news. It's coming and it's coming soon. -
