  1. Not surprising. Okoye was noticeably slimmer during the season. He's now a knifer and not as much of a stacker.
  2. As of right now, there doesn't appear to be a dominant CB prospect, like a Pac Man Jones. We'll see how Leon Hall runs. If he's just a 4.5x guy as expected, then I wouldn't recommend spending the #12 pick on any CB. I'd prefer they just use the second rounder on a CB because there wouldn't be that much of a dropoff between a first round corner and a second round corner this year.
  3. I won a ton on the Bucs that year as well. But I'm taking the Colts here.
  4. Why would they become unglued? The way I read Indy's psychological mindset right now is NOT the Colts are peeing in their pants because they have to face their tormentors. The way I read it is this: they're confident. They've beaten NE two in a row on the Patriots field. Granted, those were regular season games, but that does not mean those games were meaningless--the Colts know the Patriots can bleed and if you can bleed, you can be killed. Now they FINALLY get the Patriots at home in the playoffs, something they've waited for years to happen. Do you think they're scared? Nah, they're excited. Weather won't be an issue. Their receivers will get to run on that fast track. With only one Asante Samuel, NE won't be able to cover both Harrison and Wayne. On the other side of the ball, the Colts can put 8 in the box with Bob Sanders without worrying about mismatches in the secondary. Frankly, I think this could be a Colts blowout. Footballwise, they matchup well. They'll have the home crowd and revenge on their mind, and these aren't the Patriots of old. Still a good team, but not great like they were. I'll have a lot of money riding on Colts moneyline (-160) and some more on Colts -3.
  5. It's probably too ambitious for a message board and I think most people here only care about the Bills offseason. I would probably change it to a contest where everyone predicts the Bills offseason moves and racks up points for each correct prediction.
  6. If nothing else, the plan is realistic. The Bills probably only have enough money for ONE big name free agent signing, and if it's Nate with a $20 million dollar bonus, then the rest of team will be filled like that. BUT, it is rumored that Ralph really wants to address the o-line, and we know for a fact that Marv wants to address the d-line from his show, so I doubt they are going to splurge on Nate.
  7. If we're going to pursue a FA receiving target, I'd like Daniel Graham above all others. If nothing else, takes away from the Patriots, and adds to us. He's a really good all-around player, though. Brady trusts him a heck of a lot more than Ben "Stone Hands" Watson.
  8. The Bills have all the leverage... he'll play next season and he'll play well.
  9. It will be the Colts versus somebody, probably the Saints. Colts vs Bears... Colts win Colts vs Saints... I dunno... too much emotion there for the Saints for it to be predictable Pats will NOT beat the Colts.
  10. Whether Ralph really does or doesn't have the money to me is irrelevant. His complaints about money tell me that either he really doesn't have it, or if he does, he won't spend it. And if that's the case, the draft is much more important to the Bills than other teams.
  11. The Seahawks did have success running against the Bears, but across several games, Scott is good against the run. He can't rush the passer much at all but he'll be a decent first down and short yardage DT. I don't know if he'll end up being better than Kyle but the guy we're really replacing is Tim Anderson, and Scott is definitely better than him. Is Scott the perfect DT pickup? No. He's not a great player. But given what I believe is our limited resources, he's good value for us, and I do think he will be pursued by the Bills.
  12. I can only speak for myself but I hated Bunkley, but if we HAD drafted him, I would've had high expectations for him as well. Bottom line is that the Bills need their top 15 draft choices to become great players. Other teams can make mistakes with the draft (but not too many) and still contend because they have the money to sign free agents. And if you take a safety in the first round, in the top 10 no less, that boy better make some plays for you. Don't get me wrong, I was happy with Whitner's rookie year. But pretty soon, he needs to start affecting games the way Polamalu or even a second round guy like Bob Sanders does.
  13. You can play the what if X or Y get injured at any position. What if JP gets injured? What if Peters and Fowler get injured? Schobel and Kelsay? You can't plan your team around what-if injuries. You draft and sign players who are durable and then you hope for the best.
  14. Trading Willis would be a silly mistake. We can't get that much for him right now AND he's about to have the best season of his career because it's a contract year. I want the Bills to ride him during his contract year and then not re-sign him because he'll go back to being lazy. We can draft a starting RB in the 2008 draft. No big deal.
  15. Dibs, the bar was raised when we went with a safety in round 1. If you look at safeties drafted in round 1 over the past five years ( http://www.theredzone.org/draft_history/sh....asp?Position=S ), the list is very small and goes like this: 2006: Michael Huff, Donte Whitner, Jason Allen 2005: none 2004: Sean Taylor 2003: Troy Polamalu 2002: Roy Williams, Ed Reed Donte needs to become the average of Sean Taylor, Troy Polamalu, Roy Williams, and Ed Reed, which would make him a great player. It's like if you drafted a kicker in round 1, you would expect that kicker to be pretty darn good. With the way the salary cap is headed, the Bills really don't have that many chances to get a great player. The draft is the key for us to improve, and it is imperative that when we get a top 15 pick, the player we select pans out. Bottom line is that if the Bills are going to be Super Bowl contenders any time soon, Donte Whitner will have to become a great, game-changing player. If he doesn't, I doubt we'll be contenders. I do think he has a chance to be, though.
  16. Nate hasn't gotten re-signed yet and I don't think he will be. Whether we have a great secondary for years to come will still be determined by our offseason moves to compensate for his loss.
  17. Everyone stays, I think. I believe we're not looking to upgrade the WRs this offseason.
  18. I think it's a given. He's a young nose tackle with experience in the Tampa-2, specifically in the Bears Tampa-2, which we are trying to emulate in effectiveness. We'll pursue him.
  19. The player will be expected this time. Donte was an anomaly and even he was expected by a small number of people like Mayock on the NFL Network.
  20. Need overrides BPA but it sure would be strange to see Calvin Johnson go anywhere but #1. He's far and away the best prospect in this draft.
  21. Who cares even if you're right? The NFL will never be "up" again unless they cut back down from 32 teams. Expansion has watered down the league so this is how football is going to be from now on.
  22. I hate to say it but the way SD lost today felt like a typical Bills loss in a big game.
  23. The Colts have a better chance of beating the Patriots at home than beating the Chargers on the road. The Colts matchup pretty decently against the Pats and they'll have homefield and lots of anger and revenge motivation. Maybe I'm being naive but I really think Indy will win this time.
  24. Brady is so amazingly accurate when he has time. Dropping that sideline route into Caldwell in stride. Great, clutch throw.
  25. I agree with you Bill, but yes, I'm afraid Ralph won't have the money to compete with the big market teams for free agents. I see the Bills re-signing our own FAs except for Clements and Fletcher and then signing a DT like Ian Scott. That should take us to about 20 million under the cap and I believe that's as far as we'll go. I hope they have more $$$ available than that, though.
