  1. Also, I saw both of them in line at a packed McDonald's once. Billick ordered, paid, and then wisely used the time before his food came to squirt ketchup and grab plastic utensils and napkins. Afterwards, Cowher also ordered and paid but then dawdled around until his food came. To me, Billick is just more detail-oriented and prepared than Cowher.
  2. I would rather ask out the hot girl who might say no than the ugly girl who has no choice but to say yes. At the very least, you try for the hot girl first, right? There is one exception, of course. So I guess the question is: does Billick let you ride the hershey highway?
  3. I like Brohm's arm, too, but there are huge red flags when you are able to pluck someone off a practice squad. Especially an early pick QB that the drafting team essentially cut in Year 2.
  4. This. Kelly might even have the tools to be a good coach, but he'd have to work his way up the ranks first and gain valuable experience. See you in 20 years, in other words. Assuming he even wants to coach, which apparently he does not.
  5. I doubt the oddsmakers put much thought into it. The formula is: "People are stupid. Let's give them completely wretched odds and have them bet and make money."
  6. If I were Buddy Nix, I'd get an account with those sites right away.
  7. It's Texas. I look forward to seeing the Longhorn co-eds on Thursday, too. And Bama's for that matter.
  8. Hard to say if McDermott would have "skyrocketed" up the org chart had Jim Johnson not died.
  9. Does the author in that link realize that a meter is longer than a yard?
  10. April was a great coach but you want to give the head coach a chance to hire his "own guy". And that guy might even end up being April (although I find that unlikely). Priorities people. Head coach > ST coach and the Bills just became slightly more attractive to potential head coaches who don't want any subordinates forced upon them
  11. zazie, my man, I think we're on the same "side." I don't believe Tebow is a good NFL QB prospect, either. The people I want to see accept the wager are those that look at Tebow play and see a strong accurate arm. Apparently those people exist. With a strong accurate arm and all his "winner" traits, it should be a slam dunk for Tebow to be an effective starting QB by his third year. I'm basically giving away a free dinner here (or money or kick to the groin or whatever).
  12. Suffice it to say that one side of this argument will be very surprised. Hell, that side may end up being the Tebow detractors, who knows. Someone suggested making wagers on this Tebow debate. I think that's a good idea so we don't argue endlessly about this young man until April. It'd have to be a 3-year bet to give Tebow time to "develop" but I figure the wait wouldn't be that bad. It'd just be something else to follow in addition to the Bills during the NFL season. If the Bills actually draft him, all the better. Can we agree that if Tebow is a "good NFL QB prospect" worthy of an early draft pick that he should end up being a starting QB in his 3rd year with a 60% completion rate and more TDs than INTs? I mean, why spend an early pick on him if he can't give you at least that much, right? If it takes him longer than 3 years to learn how to throw, what's the point? If we can agree on that, you guys just need to name the stakes. Dinner, money, a kick to the groin, whatever. Dinner makes this a friendly bet and I can go for that. A kick to the groin, while unfriendly, might make the 3-yr wait more worth it, though. I would only want to wager with long-time posters who have been around for awhile and accumulated lots of posts. That way, if you back out, at least you lose a valued screen name. I won't back out. If I lose the bet, and I've been wrong before, will be wrong again, I'll be happy to buy someone dinner or stand there legs apart for you to kick me in the groin. Who wants to wager on Tebow being an effective QB by his third year as described above? Name the stakes.
  13. The draft is the lifeblood of any good football organization. The Bills have always wanted to build through the draft. This won't be some new philosophy; they've just sucked at drafting in the past. Hopefully things change with Nix.
  14. You can't just rule out anything in life 100%. Would John Clayton bet his house that Cowher won't come here? No, I don't think he would. Still, you don't need a reporter to tell you that the odds of Cowher coming to Buffalo are low. I'd be happy if we could get him in for an interview.
  15. I think the Panthers and Fox are playing a cat and mouse game right now. Panthers would like Cowher (and I think Cowher would like to stay home in Carolina) but don't want to pay Fox the $6 million he's owed next year, so they can't just fire him. Instead they are giving him "the option to return" as a lame duck. Fox, meanwhile, would like an extension (see #6 here http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Diner-...owl-misses.html ) and doesn't want to operate as a lame-duck coach. But he doesn't want to just resign and not get the $6 million. I can see a buyout happening in the offseason for a figure < $6 million.
  16. Hmmm, I suspect there are still way more prejudices against a black QB than the poor white QB.
  17. I wouldn't be surprised if both teams rest their starters. How many times in NFL history has the #3 and #4 seeds met in the conference championship game anyway? Probably zero (feel free to correct my guess, though, I didn't check). Yet that's the only scenario where playing this week would really matter. The NFL is a violent game and most players would prefer the rest given such low stakes.
  18. If a bunch of people say no, maybe. Would prefer to hire someone with head coaching experience. Nix mentioned the same thing.
  19. I'm amused by some of these "mechanics can be fixed" and "he'll fine with a good QB coach" type comments. You could be right, I guess, but I'd like to see some examples to back up these assertions. We're talking about drafting a QB that has to learn HOW TO THROW. Do we have any examples of QBs whose mechanics sucked in college becoming successful in the NFL? I honestly don't know and would like to see some data. It might not be so easy to develop him as some think.
  20. Why draft a QB high who's main weakness is throwing? I mean, I like Tebow's leadership and heart and Christian values and all that stuff as much as anyone, but I wouldn't spend a first or second round pick on him.
  21. Most of the players who don't "fit", I couldn't care less about. They're either old farts or suck.
  22. I'll take that $5 bet. Nix basically already ruled out Edwards when he talked of proper arm strength to cut through the Buffalo winds.
  23. I don't think he has the arm strength that Nix wants for the Buffalo winds.
  24. There's always a chance. I'm sure Marty doesn't feel 100% accomplished retiring without a Super Bowl ring. Now, whether he feels like Buffalo is the place to win one is another matter.
