  1. From the stuff I've read about the Cardinals and Grimm, he and Whisenhunt aren't that far removed from being "co-head coaches" of that team. It's just a matter of time before Grimm becomes head coach of his own team, whether in Buffalo or elsewhere. Same with Leslie Frazier for that matter. Grimm will hire coordinators to coordinate. I'm not worried that he's never been a coordinator.
  2. Not sure that's true. I think it's always a little bit harder to get a job if you're perceived to have failed at the job previously. There's merit to being selective about job opportunities, I think. In the end, hopefully it works out best for both the Bills and Schotty II.
  3. The Arizona Republic article actually only said he COULD interview this week, not that he will. I think the interview will probably occur after Zona gets knocked out of the playoffs (not necessarily anytime soon), but could be wrong.
  4. Great post, imo. There are a lot of reasons why I like Grimm but one of the main ones is that he is pre-vetted by the Rooneys. I don't trust Ralph to select a good head coach but I do trust the Rooneys and in my mind, it is a big positive in his favor that he was a finalist for the Steeler job.
  5. I give it a B+ draft grade. Brees can't throw in the Buffalo winds. Good mock, otherwise.
  6. Tipster, you're a good guy, man. I will, no doubt, have cause to flame you in the future for some of your annoying rantings about the Bills. But make no mistake. I respect you, I like you, and I wish you well in life, buddy.
  7. I didn't assume anything. I just stated what I think are likelihoods (but not certainties since nothing in life is certain). If McNabb takes them to the Bowl, then maybe he gets a contract extension. But that's a big if. In the meantime, I think the Eagles will let him play out the last year of his contract without an extension and keep Kolb as a capable backup and possible QB of the future. If they trade Kolb this offseason, I'd be surprised.
  8. Just because McNabb will be the starter in 2010 doesn't mean the Eagles aren't planning on starting Kolb in 2011, 2012, 2013, etc. Very unlikely they trade Kolb. Besides, McNabb will likely get injured next year, allowing Kolb at least a few spot starts. And if McNabb struggles, Kolb will be the 2010 starter, too.
  9. Oakland might be the eventual landing spot for Billick (assuming Cable really is fired.) I think Al Davis wants someone who thinks they can fix Jamarcus Russell. Billick is just the kind of guy who might not balk at that.
  10. Green Bay has no line? Check out their sack numbers before and after their tackles returned from injury. That's when his season really started to take off. Rodgers is pretty good but definitely dependent on the line (like every other QB).
  11. silvermike, I agree completely. Head coach = CEO. Coordinator = CEO's accountant. They're completely different jobs, in other words. Someone can be technically brilliant (great X's and O's ability or in the case of an accountant, great at crunching numbers) and be a poor leader for an organization. I couldn't care less whether Grimm has called plays before or whether Frazier's defenses have been good. What's more telling to me would be if there are articles discussing how much respect someone commands from players, coaches, and people around the league. Is he a natural leader that people respond to? Will good coordinators respect him enough to come work for him? Those are the things I want to hear about. But in most cases, those are the kinds of things us internet fans won't be able to find out until well after the hire occurs. So whomever the Bills choose, I'll just have to give him a chance.
  12. Personally I don't think they're lying. I really believe it was Jauron's fault.
  13. Yeah, these two can't possibly be any different at all. Maybe Fewell can even sell Frazier his rap records and show him some good fried chicken places on his way out of town.
  14. LOL. Let's see him get an interview anywhere at all for any position at all before we worry about losing out on him.
  15. There's no way I'm gonna check this mega-thread to see if this video has already been posted. If it's a repeat, so be it. Basically a video mocking Logan the EastAurora guy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFcXQYWWVao
  16. It won't be a blowout, imo. If you follow college football recruiting, you know that there's no significant difference in talent between these two programs. Both have amazing talent. Exceptions do occur (Team A plays a great game, Team B is off) like Bama beating down Fla but I think more often than not, you can expect a close game here. Texas has a "surprising" lead for most of the game. Bama comes back and wins in the end by a FG. Texas +4 bettors cash.
  17. I don't think the roster, any part of it, is a major selling point for the Bills. We have a few nice young players but no more than the Lions, Bucs, Raiders, etc. There's no attractive QB. The interior o-line looks okay but would look a lot better if Wood didn't suffer that nasty injury. I'd still want a lot more depth and talent on the o-line, especially at OT. The front 7 on D could definitely use an infusion of talent. But Nix can say, "Hey look what I did with San Diego" and that might be a better selling point, the possibility of future talent with a respected talent evaluator on board.
  18. We did have an above average defense this season, specifically we had a great pass defense. But our troubles stopping the run relegate us to merely a mediocre or "above average" rating overall. Good stats, though. There are a lot of cool things you can find out on that site that goes deeper than what you presented here. But good post.
  19. True dat, I just hope the latter is what he is saying.
  20. Not quite. The Bills would've had to put in a written request to interview Grimm this week and then hold the interview next week. This goes for all assistant coaches involved in wild card games (Grimm, McDermott, Schotty II). Coaches with byes like Frazier have to be interviewed this week. It's very possible the report is accurate and Grimm rejected an interview request. Which would be disappointing, since he's probably my favorite out of all the candidates without previous head coaching experience. But it's also possible he doesn't want to think about any coaching opportunities at all until his current team is eliminated.
  21. Well, we know this isn't a Rooney Rule interview since Perry Fewell already fulfills that obligation. Glazer reported the interest in Frazier a couple of days ago. If he continues to be right, the Bills will eventually ask to interview Grimm and McDermott, too. And possibly Rivera and Schottenheimer the younger. None of this means Cowher and Schottenheimer the elder don't top the wish list, though.
  22. Hey! I made the same analogy this morning. Unfortunately, I think Billick may BE the wart faced whale. Could be wrong, but until I see the Bills or another team actually bring him in to interview for anything (head coach or coordinator), my guess is Billick isn't very highly regarded around the league.
