  1. Yep. And if there are 200 entries a year and LA runs this contest for 40 years, there is an 89% chance he'll never have to pay out. Not a complaint. I like the contest. Just pointing out the mathematical reality.
  2. The cost of the pick is irrelevant. I mean, a 2nd rounder for a good LT, who doesn't make that trade? What will really be costly is the contract. The Bills have to be sure this guy has the talent and motivation to be good because he's going to get a big contract and the Bills only have so many big contracts we can hand out. We're not the Cowboys or Redskins in terms of seemingly unlimited money.

  4. A red flag for me about Gailey is the following offensive rankings for Georgia Tech over the past decade. The bold seasons are the ones Gailey was there: 2009 - 26th in the nation. 2008 - 50th in the nation. 2007 - 65th in the nation. 2006 - 67th in the nation. 2005 - 78th in the nation. 2004 - 80th in the nation. 2003 - 94th in the nation. 2002 - 57th in the nation. 2001 - 34th in the nation. 2000 - 15th in the nation. 1999 - 1st in the nation. So, the six worst offensive seasons for Georgia Tech in the past decade coincide with Gailey's tenure there. Does that mean he's not a great offensive mind? Nope. But it's a red flag.
  5. Well, since he only had two seasons in the NFL, I'm not going to completely ignore his six seasons in college. I think I am better informed by looking at the entire picture.
  6. all kidding aside, kid's a 5th rounder. he might not even be on the team in two years.
  7. If that's his sister then I can't sympathize with this a-hole at all!
  8. I dunno. The Spiller pick indicates to me more of a finesse approach than a smashmouth one but I guess we'll see.
  9. This thread is worthless without pics.
  10. Well, hopefully it doesn't take the Bills 7 years to contend. If all goes well (and I'm not sure it will), Spiller will be making plays for a playoff team in Year 3.
  11. We all know it's early but in case you find this stuff interesting anyway... the following is what the Las Vegas Hilton posted this week Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010 8:30 p.m. ET -- NBC Minnesota Vikings 54 +175 New Orleans Saints -4 -200 Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010 1 p.m. ET Carolina Panthers 41 +270 New York Giants -7 -330 1 p.m. ET Miami Dolphins -2 1/2 -140 Buffalo Bills 38 1/2 +120 1 p.m. ET Atlanta Falcons 42 +105 Pittsburgh Steelers -1 1/2 -125 1 p.m. ET Detroit Lions 43 1/2 +270 Chicago Bears -7 -330 1 p.m. ET Cincinnati Bengals 44 1/2 +230 New England Patriots -6 -270 1 p.m. ET Cleveland Browns 37 1/2 +110 Tampa Bay Buccaneers -2 -130 1 p.m. ET Denver Broncos 42 1/2 +125 Jacksonville Jaguars -2 1/2 -145 1 p.m. ET Indianapolis Colts -3 -160 Houston Texans 48 +140 1 p.m. ET Oakland Raiders 42 +330 Tennessee Titans -8 -400 4:15 p.m. ET Green Bay Packers 46 1/2 +105 Philadelphia Eagles -1 1/2 -125 4:15 p.m. ET San Francisco 49ers 39 -110 Seattle Seahawks PICK -110 4:15 p.m. ET Arizona Cardinals -3 -120 -175 St. Louis Rams 42 +155 8:20 p.m. ET -- NBC Dallas Cowboys -4 -200 Washington Redskins 44 +175 MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2010 7 p.m. ET -- ESPN Baltimore Ravens 38 1/2 +125 New York Jets -3 +105 -145 10:15 p.m. ET -- ESPN San Diego Chargers -5 1/2 -260 Kansas City Chiefs 45 1/2 +220
  12. The overall record doesn't matter. In fact, I expect us to be a very bad team in the first half of the season due to the learning curve under a brand new coaching staff and the new systems that come with it. What matters is that the team is better at the end of the season than at the beginning and shows signs of being well-coached and having hope at the QB position. I would take 5-11 right now if that meant the Bills go 1-7 the first half of the season and 4-4 in the second half with Brohm or Brown playing well in the starter's role in November and December. That's really the best-case scenario, imo.
  13. Go Marshawn! Find some deals on Orbitz to Honolulu! You can do it!
  14. That's what prompted me to check Brown's game logs. I wanted to see his stats in that game. But, as far as I can tell, he has never played against OSU.
  15. I think if they were counting on Brown to be the eventual starter, they would've picked him earlier in the draft. More likely, they just like his tools and makeup and want to develop him and they'll go from there, without making any unnecessary judgments about him being a future starter or whatever.
  16. Maybe they are aware but felt there were superior players at other positions early in the draft. You can't fill all the holes with one draft.
  17. I gave it a B. I think in three years, we'll be disappointed by Troup and Wang, especially in the case of Troup where we passed over some nice prospects at other positions (in particular, Gronkowski). But, besides those two, I liked or loved every other pick in this draft. I especially liked how we spent the third day picking high-upside prospects. Not all of them will pan out, most of them won't, but I think we'll get a good starter or maybe even two good starters out of the group of Easley, Moats, Batten, Calloway, and Brown. If it's Brown that pans out, then obviously the draft becomes an A++.
  18. Brown actually never played against OSU. It was a another QB named Hampton http://espn.go.com/ncf/boxscore?gameId=282640194
  19. I was sorta thinking something similar when looking over this draft. As long as Spiller stays healthy, you could argue that in terms of explosiveness on the field, the draft goes 1) Suh, 2) Spiller
  20. I'm just shocked that he's white. I would've laid 10 to 1 that Levi Brown from Troy was a black kid.
  21. I dunno. It's not an official combine measurement but I have a feeling our 5th rounder doesn't have much length in that area.
  22. Ha, nice. It was also a lot of dollars for that Korean, as Chung was the 13th overall pick. I think I know now why Wang triggered my memory for Chung. They both went to Virginia Tech.
  23. For some reason, he reminds me of Eugene Chung, the former New England offensive tackle.
