  1. The accuracy that guys like Brees, Manning, and Brady have is natural born talent. Fitz could stand to get a little bit better but I don't think he could ever reach the elite level of accuracy.
  2. The CBA will expire before the 2011 draft takes place. Luck and all possible 2011 draftees would be getting paid under the new rules anyway (which will likely include a rookie salary cap). Luck is staying until 2012.
  3. Behind this o-line, the QB needs to be able to run a little. Belichick was very afraid of Fitz's mobility and gunslinger mentality and with good reason.
  4. We will see. I go back and forth on this a lot. I just wish there were a 2011 college QB that stood out as a stud so we can take him as a top 3 pick. Andrew Luck is probably going in the 2012 draft. Maybe playing next season with Fitzpatrick at QB is tolerable if we build the o-line in this draft and then pray for Luck in the following draft somehow.
  5. actually, 2011 draftees will get contracts according to the new rookie pay scale (whatever it is). collective bargaining agreement ends in march. Luck is staying another year
  6. He would win too many games. Not enough to make the playoffs but enough to ruin draft position.
  7. I agree that he probably stays in school another year regardless of which team is picking #1. Besides his desire to graduate before going pro and the murky NFL labor situation, he's learned that there isn't much risk in staying another year. Essentially the worst thing that could happen to a top NFL prospect did happen to Sam Bradford. He suffered a major injury in the first game of the season and didn't play another game. Still went #1 overall. QB talent will get paid.
  8. Could Gailey also mean that Spiller needs to LITERALLY slow down when he gets out on the field? That he becomes too excited, is rushing things and isn't yet using his brain to read the defense and make the right play? I would think that problem is somewhat typical for a rookie. Whatever the case may be, it is clear that Spiller has to improve something to get playing time. Which is fine. Arian Foster was on the practice squad until late in the season last year and now is playing great. Some rookies are NFL ready; some aren't. People are just frustrated since they expect the #9 pick to be NFL ready and that's understandable.
  9. In my experience, the majority of 3-team teasers end the same way you described; the bettor covers 2 out of 3 (sometimes easily) and then loses the third leg. So afterward, it becomes like a weird mirror trick where you feel like you were closer to winning the bet than you actually were. People rarely win a 3-team teaser, but they do cover 2 of the 3 legs a lot. I would avoid teasers as much as possible. If you had just placed 3 separate bets on Nebraska, Atlanta, and Dallas, you would've won money overall. Nice job cashing the Green Bay bet. I would take the Bills +14.5 or 15 which is what the line might be at most books on Sunday. I do think the Bills will play better with Fitzpatrick and getting that many points is usually good value in a divisional game.
  10. Call me cynical, but Belichick could be buttering up Lynch because he really fears Jackson the most.
  11. First of all, I don't believe you have any employees. Secondly, for people that do have subordinates, they might not fire their subordinates after a short period of poor performance but they will constantly evaluate and give feedback. I think most people are just saying, it doesn't look good for Nix and Gailey so far.
  12. Yep. I remember reading an offseason article (here it is -- http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/bills-nfl/article105090.ece ) in which Gailey says of Brohm that he has all the tools you need for a QB except for accuracy. Ha! Well, good luck with that, Brian. That said, Brohm supporters don't need to whine about him not starting right now because he will probably get his chance later in the season. If the Bills have 2 wins and 10 losses, Brohm will start unless he is embarrassingly awful in practice and the coaches have no confidence that he can be an NFL QB. Either way the fans get to "find out" about Brohm.
  13. Even if we want him, he probably doesn't want us. With every good game he plays (does anyone doubt that he will eventually replace Kolb permanently this season?), his offseason options increase. Most notably, if the Eagles want him as a starter next season, he probably will feel a loyalty to them.
  14. What makes you think Levi Brown was still an unknown to the Bills when he was cut? The coaches obviously saw him suck during camp and decided he can't be made into an NFL QB. I'm also not exactly feeling much remorse over "wasting" a 7th rounder.
  15. Why is it panic and not decisiveness or accountability?
  16. In this day and age, you take the QB. 20 years ago maybe the decision is closer but with all the rule changes and emphasis made by the league over the past decade to favor the passing game, your team is dead in the water without a QB. Did anyone see that ridiculous roughing the passer called on the Ravens against Carson Palmer? Teams can barely play defense anymore.
  17. The truth hurts. I know people are tired of hearing about Orakpo/Matthews vs Maybin, but I want to see the Bills reminded of that decision as often as possible. Hopefully repeated public shaming leads to accountability (who was responsible for the Maybin intel?) leads to change.
  18. It's a 7 point spread. I just see Bama dominating but I would be okay with being wrong if Mallett picks them apart.
  19. Kidnap Andrew Luck's mother and force him to declare for the draft after the season.
  20. Hmmm, trade Trent for a draft pick? Okaaaaay. Is it 1980? Does the draft still last 12 rounds?
  21. The Bama-Arkansas game on Saturday is more important to the Bills franchise than the Bills-Pats game. I will be betting heavily against Arkansas since I'm not a believer in Ryan Mallett and, well, Bama is a decent football team. BUT my love for the Bills is such that if Mallett has a great game, I won't feel like I've lost some money. I'll feel like I've gained a son.
  22. If you define success as playoffs then he will fail but he should be better than Edwards, however small the difference.
  23. Fitz will be better if for no other reason than he is more mobile and will sometimes make plays with his legs behind our weak o-line. But the team will still suck and nobody has said different.
