  1. Nix definitely deserves credit for the turnaround since Gailey was his hand-picked coach. I was skeptical of the Gailey hire but he has turned out to be a perfect fit for the modern era of NFL football in which the rules cater to passing offense. Of all the decisions Nix has made in his tenure as GM, the head coaching hire was by far the most important. And he knocked it out of the park. A good head coach is worth several first-rounders, imo, so even if you count Spiller as a negative mark on Nix's record, I would say he is still firmly in the black. And Dareus is a stud.
  2. Well, Miller and Maybin are both 1) black and 2) OLBs. You can hardly blame people for thinking they were twins. Let anyone who has not made this mistake cast the first stone.
  3. You act like half the teams win every Sunday or something. IT'S HARD TO WIN IN THIS LEAGUE! Give Jauron more time!
  4. Jauron is a damn good football coach, you idiots! Some of you need to take a look at Belichick's record his first few years as a head coach! Could Jauron be following in Belichick's footsteps? I think so! It takes five or six years to turn around a franchise. You can't build a team when you get a new head coach every four years or so. Give Jauron some time!!!!!
  5. Agreed. It's why Brady always terrorizes the blitz-happy Steelers; they just can't get to him in time. You pretty much have to rush four and count on your defensive linemen to defeat blocks if you want to have success against that offense. We'll obviously have to add or develop another pass rusher to this roster, but for this one game, thank God the secondary was able to make some plays for INTs.
  6. Look at it this way. If you knew beforehand that the Bills would go 1-1 against New England and Cincinnati, and you had the power to choose which of the two opponents the Bills would beat, you would all choose NE.
  7. San Diego was only a .500 team and all the other opponents sucked. Jauron could never beat a good team. New England and probably Oakland are better than any team we beat that year.
  8. You have it right, here. That series really wasn't an inside look at how Belichick does things at all. No crucial trade secrets were revealed.
  9. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying you're a funny guy at all. It was just a nice effort there. On average, a message board poster will do worse.
  10. Eh. A contract getting re-done when a player outperforms it by a wide margin is SOP for the NFL. No it's not a stretch. If we can't agree on this, we can't agree on anything. The front office should have the ability to multitask. If Spiller weren't making a lot of money already, it'd already be done, imo. The problem isn't that he's slightly underpaid; it's that he's VERY underpaid. His performance far outexceeded his contract for two seasons already. He shouldn't have had to deal with a third. But life is unfair sometimes.
  11. Fred's going to finish the year strong anyway because he's a good guy like that, but what makes you think the Bills are going to give him a new contract after the season? This is already going to be his third consecutive year being hugely underpaid. He has no reason to trust the Bills. And quite frankly, I don't think the Bills are going to ever reward him. He's just in an unfortunate situation where all his money is going to his backup. I don't think Ralph is going to pay for two big money backs.
  12. We absolutely got lucky (but we also executed well in the comeback for the most part). You shouldn't let that bother you b/c luck is part of the game. There are zero teams in the league who won't win or lose a game at some point due to a lucky break.
  13. Agreed. A few shaky decisions and ball placements are just part of the territory with Fitz. He's not Brady and says so himself but Fitz has helped make football exciting again in Buffalo.
  14. LOL. Have you ever read an article about Fred Jackson? His teammates love his effort and unselfishness. THAT is what a captaincy is about, not remaining absolutely silent when you're getting screwed. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the players bonded further around Jackson's contract situation in a "we got your back" and "us against the world" fashion.
  15. It's not like Jackson called a press conference or something to voice his annoyance. He answered a reporter's question. And in the same article he did say this: "I'm going to play football," he said. "I come to help this team and get wins. And that's what I'm going to continue to do." He's a great teammate by all accounts and will continue to be so. But he's in an unfair situation and has a right to speak his mind about it, especially when asked directly.
  16. Oh, I agree with you. My point wasn't they are spending a lot at RB for an NFL team. I'm saying, they're spending a lot "for the Bills." It might just be habit, but I expect the Bills to cheap out with Freddy. I could be wrong.
  17. Why does Jackson have to keep quiet if his teammates support him? Going public is actually smart because grabbing public pressure/attention for his cause is one of the few ways he can improve his leverage in the negotiation. I can understand telling Fred to shut up if his teammates don't want to hear about it, but his teammates apparently love him and have his back. The Bills are very unlikely to pay him, btw. They have too much money tied up in the RB position already. But if there's a slim chance at all for a pay raise to get done, it will have to be with public pressure, imo.
  18. What debate? If you loaded up Nix and Gailey with truth serum, even they would say they wouldn't draft Spiller at 9th again, given what they know now. Doesn't mean he isn't a useful player, though.
  19. I definitely remember that game b/c I remember picking him up in fantasy football afterwards. Such was the state of my QB position that year.
  20. what an exotic name for an NFL player. he and legedu naanee should tweet
  21. That's actually better shape than I thought these negotiations would be in. If true, are the Bills offering $5mil and he's asking for $7mil? Maybe it's $6mil vs $8mil?
  22. The Chargers are not locks but someone from the AFC West is (doesn't matter whether it's the Chargers or Raiders or somebody else). With division winners getting automatic bids, only 4 of these teams can get playoff spots: Bills, Patriots, Jets, Steelers, Ravens (or some yet unknown surprise team) Hopefully one of those other teams has a very disappointing year and the Bills stay healthy and receive some breaks It's possible.
  23. fyi, for people rushing to bet the over Only once in the past 25 years has the over/under for a Bills game been set as has high as 53. Not a misprint. Check for yourself http://www.covers.com/pageLoader/pageLoader.aspx?page=/data/nfl/teams/pastresults/2002-2003/team12.html
  24. He has to keep the ticket until he's back in Vegas the next time. That situation comes up a lot with weekend tourists during the NFL season, and the casinos aren't going to mail you money. If it's a bet that he really cares about, he could check http://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/las-vegas/ to see if certain casinos have better lines. For example, it appears that the Mirage has 52 right now while most other casinos have 53 on the board. If he's going to bet the over, he should probably do it asap. The number will prob creep to 53.5/54 if not more by kickoff. Also, the under will probably win, by a lot.
