Bills playoff hopes in hands of Travis Brown?
Ozymandius replied to Johnny's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
he'll play hard because he's auditioning for a roster spot next year... i'm not concerned about his effort as much as i am about his suckitude and jim sorgi's suckitude -
From what we've read this week, Dungy would much prefer to have Indy's playoff game be on Sunday, and he would be willing to play his starters longer if they can avoid the short rest that comes with playing on Saturday. Right now, there's a pretty good chance that Indy WILL be the Sunday game since the AFC game on Sunday will start at 1:00pm Eastern, and it would make more sense to have that game be in Indy than San Diego because of the start time. Dungy believes that the outcome of the Jets game has an impact on what day Indy will play because supposedly the NFL prefers their large market teams to receive the Sunday game. So, let's say the Jets lose against the Rams, the Bills win against Pitt, and Indy beats Denver -- the large market Jets will then have the #6 seed and will be locked into playing the #3 seed Indy, which, when you take into consideration the start time of 1:00 pm for the Sunday game, means it'd be virtually guaranteed that Indy plays on Sunday. What does this mean? If the Jets lose against the Rams, and the Bills win, Dungy will be more inclined to play his starters longer to get the win so they can play on Sunday.

Hows drafting a 1st round QB looking NOW!!!
Ozymandius replied to JP-era's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's definitely a good guess, better than I could come up with. Ironically, Yang and Mills were first round mathematicians, not scrubby late round hacks who don't have quantum theories named after them. -
Have we all been watching the same Ben Roethlisberger? The most impressive thing about him is his poise. Even casual fans (read: girlfriends) look at Ben play and comment on how calm he is in the pocket.

What mold did he fit 2 and half years ago? Has it been an exponential or linear decline? -
No way we take a kicker with our..

Agreed. Plus, shouldn't the team that gave the world "wide right" ALWAYS employ a top 5 kicker? (note: not blaming Norwood for the loss, just stating a principle) -

also enjoyed the "Girl Description of Another Girl" Decoding Scale "Gorgeous" = Beautiful "Beautiful" = Hot "Hot" = Cute "Pretty" = Alright "Nice Face" = Bad Body "Cute" = Brutal "Alright" = Train Wreck "Good Personality" = Morbidly obese/drug addict -- Marc G, Stamford, CT SG: You forgot two good ones between "Alright" and "Good personality" ... 1. "One of the Nicest People I've Ever Met" = Probably disfigured. 2. "Very, Very Cool" = Missing a limb. -

funny stuff... best line of the column? The movie ad should have come with this tag: "WARNING: CLINT EASTWOOD CRIES." I know actors have to make that leap at some point, but this was 50 times worse than Stallone breaking down in "Rocky 3" and 200 times worse than finding out about Mike Ditka's erectile dysfunction. -
Daaaamn. Those are some great stats, maddog. Thanks for posting them - I feel a lot better about that game now.

How do I bet the Steelers Game ??
Ozymandius replied to Surfmeister's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Surf, many of my friends are fellow handicappers like you, and I can tell you 90% of us are going with Bills -9 this week. -
if Snyder hadn't gotten Portis last season, maybe we could have bilked the Skins out of Smoot/Springs and a second rounder.

Anyone Else Think It's 5th Seed or Out
Ozymandius replied to ubhockey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd be giddy if we just got in, but the scenario you painted would be awesome to have. Chargers-Steelers-Colts is the best path to the Super Bowl. Colts-Steelers-Pats would be an impossible gauntlet. -
Cover your losses, good bet for this

This is a great idea. I concur. -
advance scouting on Jets-Rams Here's an Insider article previewing the all too significant Jets-Rams battle where they predict the Rams will prevail. The central argument being pushed by these "Scouts" is that the Rams WR's have huge mismatches against the Jets CB's, and with Abraham out and the Rams playing for their playoff lives on home turf, Bulger should be able to take advantage of this situation to score points. When the Jets have the ball, the Scouts believe that the Jets will punish the Rams on the ground, but that the Rams can play Archuleta in the box enough so that it won't be a total mismatch due to Pennington's girlish arm. It's a good article, their points are valid, but I'm not sure I buy them. Pennington's effeminate arm has been in place the entire season, yet the Jets still have 10 wins mostly by beating up on crap teams like the Rams. This game will of course take place in the dome and not the wind, so I don't believe the Rams can take ridiculous advantage of Penny as the Patriots did. As for when the Rams have the ball, the mismatches against the Jets secondary exist on paper, but the Rams have such a mistake-prone offense, I'm not sure they can take advantage. For every big play they create, they're going to give up a sack, INT, or fumble. Sure, the Rams can win... any given Sunday, right? But I'm not going to give them the matchup advantage like these guys are. If the Rams win, it's an upset.

If true, Portis is scum for reneging.

I promise you that when the Bills win the Super Bowl, it won't be with Lindell as kicker. I have no qualms with drafting a great kicker in the second round, but I don't think TD places that much of an emphasis on that position, which is the reason why we have Lindell in the first place. -
I'd much rather face Maddox than Ben, not because Maddox stinks so much but because Ben is great.

I put money on Jets -3 as well. Needless to say, I hope I lose that money, but as a handicapper I had to take that bet out of principle. -

I put money on Indy +4.5 for the first half... seemed like a juicy line when the Colts sound like they're going to play for at least a half. -

that fact or fiction bit is dumb, at least in this case... neither of them even addressed the other two games that determine our playoff fate. -

Rams -2 is a day and half old... it opened that way, but now it's Jets -3 -
I'm worried about Saban. There are two college coaches that should make great NFL coaches. One was Nick Saban, the other is Jeff Tedford.
