No, he gave away two fourth round picks (this year's and last year's) for the chance to move up 8 slots in round 2 to pick an ILB who likely would have been available anyway. He traded all that for just a chance to move up? gutsy move by doug, good thing it paid off and we got to actually move up. Every pre draft rankings i seen had ragland in the top 30 and many mocks had the bills taking him at 19 so maybe he traded up to get first round talent that dropped. There was a chance he could have still been there but no guarantees

next year is still next year and we still have 16 games to playWell, if we rebuild and go 6-10 next year, aka lose one more game, it's all for naught.
-
lol ya cause every gm hits on every move. There isnt one gm in the history of sports that hasnt made a bad moveBryce Brown

we've gotten worse under whaley? While we havent taken the next step up yet, i think saying we have gotten worse is a stretch.I think Doug Whaley is the worst more than anybody, but causality seems to be at play here.
Do you think those winning teams have lots of comp picks because they have lots of good players and can't keep them all?
Improvement? We've gotten worse.

while the verdict is obviously still out on ragland sammy is a good player, i cant think of anyone else he traded up for. Remember some of the gems we wasted picks on trading up before in the past losman mccargo denney. Lots of people used to complain when we would let our own good players go in the past, now we keep alot of them and people blame whaley. If he can find a solution to the bills qb problems all is well.John, isn't that the point? Whaley trades away our draft picks, doles out huge contracts, and we continue to lose. Now, while so many teams are gaining resources, we continue to languish without much good news in sight.Whaley is a disaster and he should have been fired with Rex.
He struck out with ej, got a single with tyrod, now its time to try again

finding good cheap players like z brown and alexander are the reason we didnt get any comp picks this year but i guess that is a failure by whaley, maybe he should have let go of glenn and incognito and we could have got some to please some fans. We will probably lose gilmore, woods, and atleast one of zb or alexander which should get us some good comp picks next year but im sure the same people crying about picks now will cry about how we dont keep our good players.Except we don't lose. The three seasons that have followed full Whaley off seasons we are exactly .500. Good enough? No. Improvement? Yes. Clock running out on him finding a Quarterback? Without question. But has he built a talented roster? I honestly believe he has.

are u sure , lol remember rob johnsonThey won't have to give up that much. Garappolo can be had for one of the Browns' 2d round picks, plus maybe a 4th or 5th. No one will trade a high 1st for a guy who's started 3 games.
-
whaley can do no right for some peopleAre we really complaining that the Bills aren't awarded comp picks because they didn't let talented players go/picked up too many good players in free agency? Seriously?
-
Dont really remember but who did seattle lose for 2 thirds and kc for 4 picks
-
would love to be able to trade down to pick 13-15 and still get himAnything that nets us Corey Davis
-
Hope not. good player, good leader and groy is good depth for all 3 interior positions. Get rid of him and u just open up another hole to fill

dobyou even know why he was benchedYou don't give up your QB, to go to a guy in Cardale who was benched his final year at Ohio State and only started 14 games.
i agree, just look at hogans 2 games against the bills, the qb makes him way better just like every wrAnyone citing "letting go of Hogan" as an example of Whaley's incompetence, I kind of have a tough time taking seriously. I don't think it's an outrageous viewpoint to be anti-Whaley but it's hard to argue he hasn't made more good moves than bad ones if you factor in drafting, FA signings/who he let go and trades.
-
Are we really talking about trading ragland. hasnt played a down yet in the nfl, wait let me guess hes a bust
-
If they arent gonna try because of who is qb maybe they shouldnt be on the bills then or the nfl for that matter. I doubt it is only whaleys decision who is gonna be qb also.
-
what about the other 31 front offices that passed on them tooliterally laughed out loud
I like Cardale but DW has been a big part of a front office that has missed on guys like Russell Wilson, David Carr and Dak Prescott......passed right under his nose....but he trusts his eyes on Cardale? Hmmm
-
I would think his trade value would be atleast as much as garapolo whos barely played and the pats want a first rounder for him, plus bradford got a first rounder who i also think is about the same level
-
Wouldnt mind romo but would have to be a conditional pick, based on how many games he plays or if we make playoffs. Only has a couple years left if that so wouldnt want to give up a first or second
-
he makes alot but he is worth every pennyThe question isn't weather if he wants to come back. It's if we want him back, we need to lower his cap hit about 2 million. If he is willing, then he will be back.
Imo

You never give him a grade , let me guess an f

best defensive player on a horrible defense year after year, so he made two good moves? That trade for richardson was a real winnerVontae Davis has been their best defensive player and he got him for a second. Yeah, that's a good move. Our best defensive player is a drug addict we had to take #3 overall who is on a suspension streak.
-
TY Hilton in the 3rd? Fleener, Allen, Mewhort, Montcrief, Vontae Davis.
Are these supposed to be grigsons superstar moves that you are bringing up? Are fleener and allen really that good, he gave up a second for davis, moncrief is no superstar. Id say hilton is the only really good move. Keep trying chan

brady gronk blount and edelman are all underpaid, cant really think of anyone on their def who gets paid alot besides mccourty. They are gonna have to start paying these guys sometime. Unless kraft works out other arrangementsThe Pats are pretty good at the salary cap thing
-
I think olson was only gonna be the qb coach, or oc only if our other 2-3 options fall through as a backup plan
-
hes gotta, no other logical explanation why he is still employedGrigson knows where the bodies are buried
