Many fans were strongly against drafting Josh Allen in the weeks and months leading up to the draft. Personally, I was hoping the Jets would take him. To expect everyone to immediately turn around and say it was a great pick just because the Bills chose him doesn't seem very reasonable. If you're strong in your convictions, you don't care what others think. If you're not, maybe you start threads to criticize others for not feeling the same way that you do. Give it some time.

Beane and the Bills have looked at Dez Bryant
Buffalo86 replied to Just Jack's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Rodak interpreted Beane's statement like this: Bills GM Brandon Beane said the team won't pursue free agent Dez Bryant. Beane said the Bills watched Bryant "on tape" but won't pursue the free agent any further. "If we thought that was the right fit for us, we definitely would potentially pursue it," Beane continued. Bryant reportedly turned down a multi-year contract from the Ravens recently and continues to seek out a one-year, prove-it deal. The Cardinals and Packers have been linked to Bryant, though nothing concrete has materialized to this point. Source: Mike Rodak on Twitter Apr 28 - 7:52 PM -
Mel Kiper Draft grades:. Bills only team with an A.

Agreed. Why isn't anyone reminding Kiper that his time is up? His kudos = the kiss of death. -

Does Doug Whaley Get Hired This Season?
Buffalo86 replied to BuffaloRush's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Whaley could be an attractive fit for a meddlesome owner who wants final say in football matters without any pushback from his GM. Or if the team is dangerously below the cap & need someone to overspend to avoid cap penatlties. Or if they're looking for someone to butt heads with the HC & get him to quit. Come to think of it, he should be GM of the Browns right now. -
RD3, Pick 96: Harrison Phillips DT - Stanford
Buffalo86 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From espn: Pre-Draft Analysis Phillips is a highly disruptive run defender with elite intangibles who led the nation in tackles for a defensive lineman with 102. He grades out as a starting defensive lineman if he's used as a three-technique, 4-3 nose tackle or 3-4 defensive end (or some combination). Post-Draft Analysis The Bills signed Star Lotulelei to start inside next to Adolphus Washington, and Kyle Williams signed a one-year deal. That said, Harrison is the 43rd-ranked player on our board, making him an outstanding value pick. -- Steve Muench -
I was hoping the Jets would take Allen so we could face him 2x a year. Part of that was that I don't think the Jets have the coaches in place for Allen to realize his potential. Hopefully we do. Edmunds was a good pick. Not too much else to say about that. What I don't like is that we went from 5 picks in the top 65 to 2. But if those 2 guys pan out, look out. B+

Baker Mayfield draft eve tweet - amazing

Tough to compare Mayfield's NFL prospects to those of Chase Daniel, who went undrafted. -
Interesting Take From QB Guru on Allen
Buffalo86 replied to Da webster guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good points, though Favre is the only one I can think of who never hit 60%. Interesting article I came across that paints 58.5% in a player's final college year as the threshold for failure: https://www.reddit.com/r/nfl/comments/65zs0w/oc_why_585_is_the_magic_number_for_qbs_in_the_nfl/ -
Interesting Take From QB Guru on Allen
Buffalo86 replied to Da webster guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jordan Palmer is Allen's personal trainer, so his words aren't likely to change many minds among front office personnel, scouts, draft gurus, or message board posters. -
Agreed, corny as hell.

Maurice Hurst:

I'd definitely address LB over WR, especially if one of the big 4 (Smith, Edmunds, Vander Esch, Edwards) is available.

If we must take a WR @ 22, I prefer DJ Moore.

What was the worst Bills’ trade of all time?
Buffalo86 replied to Sky Diver's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Trading for Mike Williams was a curious move, considering he had quit on Marrone at Syracuse. -
Too many bad drafts to pick just one. 2012 yielded some good players, but I'll always remember it as the draft the Bills traded up for Russell Wilson. Wait, I meant TJ Graham. Buddy liked Russell Wilson, but not in the 3rd. Please allow me to suggest that if you don't like a QB enough to take him in the 3rd, you don't like him all that much.

Rob Johnson is still bitter after 20 years
Buffalo86 replied to Sky Diver's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't find any documentation of this, but I'd swear Johnson once commented about taking sacks because it was better for his QB rating than throwing an incompletion. The way he's still talking about his superior stats, 20 years later, makes it seem pretty likely. -
Who had the strongest arm in NFL history?

Back in '82, most definitely. I always thought Marino had a gun for an arm. -

What is your biggest Bills FA mistake

Brian Brohm. I used to bang the table on a now defunct message board about how we should poach him from the Packers' practice squad. "He would've been a top 5 pick if he came out a year earlier!" I also expected big things from WR Chad Jackson, for some reason.
