  1. I rooted for Nall in 2006, mainly because he was the unknown & what I thought I knew about the other two guys wasn't good. Near impossible to deny that Allen has the most future upside of our current three. But, it sounds like he needs some refinement, so time on the bench seems pretty likely. At the same time, he had a horrible O-line & WRs in college, so that may have prepared him well for this team. If the Bills don't think they're making the playoffs with Peterman & McCarron (with the potential of those two being separated by a coin flip, imo), why not start the process now?
  2. Nall was supposedly looking pretty good, until he pulled a hamstring on the second day of camp. That was that.
  3. I feel/felt the exact same way about Tyrod. Thought he had the most upside, was excited when he won the job & had some early success, but got tired of waiting for him to take that next step. As for EJ, I absolutely saw him as competition, if only because he was our former 1st round pick, being championed by our GM. I say it was 2015. EJ was our 1st round pick, Cassel was the (relatively) steady veteran, and Tyrod was the dark horse with crazy athletic ability. And in fairness, Tuel wasn't a draftee.
  4. It looks like we have the makings of another 3-man QB competition. Who were you rooting for* when this happened before, and why? 2015: EJ Manuel vs Matt Cassel vs Tyrod Taylor 2006: JP Losman vs Kelly Holcomb vs Craig Nall *Yes, of course we all just wanted whichever guy was best for the team.
  5. I reject the challenge because Balboa is no challenge. But I'll be more than happy to beat up on him some more.
  6. It's early, but I'm glad the coaches are taking a look at all 3 QBs. Anybody remember the QB competition of '10 that wasn't? Gailey was quick to declare Trent Edwards the starter over Fitzmagic and Brohm. 2 regular season games later, Edwards was deemed unfit for a roster spot. I think McDermott is smarter than that. I don't see McCarron as a lock to start over Peterman; they seem pretty comparable to me.
  7. Something about this is borderline hilarious to me: Utah, Utah State and Oregon State expressed interest, although “I was lighter, about 260 pounds, so they didn’t know if I was a D-tackle or a D-end.” During his redshirt year, Lotulelei, mainly through inactivity, added nearly 100 pounds. That intensified the interest of the three Division I schools.
  8. Having Tolbert as our #2 was disgraceful. If those are my only 2 choices, sure, I'll take Ivory. But I'm definitely tempering my expectations.
  9. Compared to our other signings, I thought it was pretty average.
  10. Not necessarily the most clutch, but one that hasn't been mentioned yet: 10/7/1990: We had a 31-24 lead late in the 4th quarter, but the Raiders were driving down the field with a chance to tie. After Jay Schroeder completed a short pass to Willie Gault, Nate Odomes stripped & returned it for a TD to seal the game and hand the Raiders their first loss of the season. Bills 38, Raiders 24. As for classic anti-clutch moments: Trent Edwards running out of bounds vs the Packers on 4th & 11 with 1:19 left in the game was pretty terrible, but in reality, we were down by 27 points. And then, mercifully, he wasn't a Bill anymore.
  11. I fear you're missing out on plenty of music worse than that. Like, for example, this:
  12. Supposedly not nearly as good as the 2018 crop, but there's no telling who progresses or how much over the coming year. You've got a point: the Luckless Colts should be a shoe-in to pick at the top of the draft again next year. They could easily go 0-6 in their division.
  13. You think that you're really hard You think that you can mosh Got your suspenders and got your boots You'd better wear armor, you f***in' fool We mosh until we die We mosh until you fry You think that you can try But can you do... the Milano Mosh?
  14. The Colts had the opportunity to draft any QB besides Mayfield. They probably regret it already. Now they're forced to try the Buddy Nix teambuilding approach, which involves addressing every position but QB. I think we all know how well that works.
  15. Vontae Davis. He was a borderline shutdown corner just a few years ago, before he started getting hurt. He could be a huge piece to our D if he can stay healthy.
  16. In all fairness, Gordon's troubles have been well documented and he's appeared in just 49 of 80 games. Aside from a monster season in 2013, he hasn't been very impactful.
  17. Nate Peterman starts more games than AJ McCarron Tremaine Edmunds finishes top 5 in the league in tackles Like Brent Grimes before him, Vontae Davis stays healthy and reverts to Pro Bowl form with his new team in his age 30 season. This gives us one of the best CB tandems in the league, and also gives Bills fans a reason to gripe about Beane only signing Davis to a 1 year deal
  18. Yup, part of the "haul" Buddy Nix received for Marshawn Lynch. I believe we also received some magic beans in the deal.
  19. I couldn't feel anything below my waist, but I was in a blissfully sedated, fully conscious state. I just lay (laid) there and listened to the playlist I'd prepared for the occasion. All in all, it was a really good time. I've been meaning to go back there again.
  20. 4 surgeons from 4 hospitals, including the team surgeon for the Mets, looked at my MRI and said I had a torn ACL. A few minutes into surgery, I'm told "You don't have a torn ACL; it's a badly torn meniscus." Alrighty then.
  21. The way I remember it, our predicament of being forced to take EJ in 2013 was a direct result of Gailey's conviction that Fitzmagic was all the QB he needed, and that no other competent QBs should be on the roster who might mess with Fitzmagic's confidence. This was preceded by the determination that Trent Edwards was our unquestioned starter, which lasted for 2 games until he was deemed not worthy of a roster spot. Aaron Williams over Dalton/Kaepernick and TJ Graham over Russell Wilson were caused by Gailey's misplaced confidence in Fitz. It's true that he didn't have a good QB, but it was mostly of his own doing.
  22. I think the implication in a thread like this is that things are much better now, so we can laugh about how bad they were before. At least that's the way I take it.
  23. If people were kneeling in protest of America's treatment of its veterans, they'd enjoy near universal support. But racial inequality? "Get the hell out of my country!"
