The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19
CommonCents replied to Hedge's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Massachusetts probably ends up on that list soon, the local reps are asking for a shelter in place from the governor. That’s all everyone wants to talk about and the grocery stores were insane yesterday. Most thought Charlie Baker would wait til tomorrow, as did I, but who knows with all the stores being picked over already. My guess was that he would shut the state down before work on Monday, now I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s today or not until next week. Last night was the first death in the state out of hundreds of hospitalized. That rate is second to only Jerusalem as far as I know. The argument now would be to shut down the state as to not put more challenges in front of the hospitals and their workers. The drug Trump mentioned on TV yesterday is being used in every patient that they suspect Covid in when they arrive at BMC. They had an interview with one of the doctors last night, she was hopeful and her face looked like a smile was being held back. Inevitably Baker/Walsh will shutdown the city and or state and it’s probably the right thing to, stay ahead of it and try and keep that fatality rate trending down. -

That’s how mass is, everyone thinks they shut us down this weekend before everyone goes back to work on Monday. Activated national guard etc, does the governor have to get a martial law approved or these shelter in places are instant? This is crazy. Everyone will be out of work before long. Hardly any meats at the supermarkets and limited canned goods. After NYC and DC shut down the panic hit. Whatever, the half measures never had a chance. Most companies remanined open all week. -

No sorry I meant shelter in place, I think some of the more heavily populated states will lean towards that before the new work week or put tighter restrictions on employers. I thought governors needed to declare that to shut down cities like NYC and LA. Seems that is not to be true after looking into it. Sorry for the confusion and stupidity. Lots of talk in Mass that the governor could impose it depending on testing results. -

If Dobbins is there when the Bills pick you would have a hard time finding a player who would have more impact than him. -

He talks a lot of silly stuff. I fell out of love. -
Right and it’s crap. We get deliveries from UPS and Fedex drivers who combined are going to an estimated 600 other houses and buisnesses then coming to ours each day. Isn’t that the definition of community transmission? Maybe im nuts but all these half measures are the wrong approach. If it’s as serious as they are saying then shut ***** down for a month. If it’s not, open the gym so I can workout and then go drink at the bar. Once they roll out drive though testing and the numbers become more clear panic will strike and governors will then act.

The Next Pandemic: SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19

There is an article out there that details how the body’s immune system is 12 percent more active for each degree the body temperature rises. It makes a case not to take anything to lower the fever and let the body fight it. Talks about lizards climbing to the top of rocks and baking themselves in the sun when sick. Made me think of Sammy, the Lizard. -

It’s like being an extra in the Walking Dead. Bars, Restraunts, Gyms, heck everything is closed. No traffic on the way to work or the way home. I still have to go to work but I’d be surprised if that lasts the week. -

Right. Could they step down into a different position and change their pay structure?
