We agree that idiots who blame the guns are missing the point. For the record I want it to be more difficult to buy certain weapons. That is sensible gun control. Things don’t always have to be so drastic or extreme, like taking all our guns or infringing upon our second amendment.

Would you prefer the term military style rifle over assault rifle? It’s asinine to think the term assault weapon is just a politicized tool of the lefties.

An assault rifle is any rifle used by infantry. Doesn’t matter if they have autos and we have semi’s they are still assault weapons. You come across as extremely ignorant and condescending just so you know.

The class of gun is an assault rifle, hence the term assault weapons. I have 5 guns. Walther ppx with critical defense rounds in my nightstand at all times for home defense. A shotgun for skeet and birds, rifle for deer, .22 for gators, and my glock .40 in my car because I have a concealed. Don’t talk down to me like you’re the only person who owns or shoots guns.

They aren’t banned though. Neither are extended clips or armor piercing ammo. They are actually pretty easy to get if you aren’t a felon and have the cash.

Fair enough. Do you think assault weapons should be harder to get? Not outlawed, banned or taken away. Just simply harder to purchase.

We would still have the right to bear arms. It just wouldn’t be an unregulated free for all. Going strictly off the verbiage written hundreds of years ago is not practical to an evolving and different world that we live in today. The constitution needs to be amended. Any licensed behavioral health specialist. There are psych evaluations done all the time for baker acts and other mental illness patients. This would be paid for out of pocket by the potential buyer. Making a threat on social media or talking about being violent actually isn’t a legal part of free speech and we should start doing something about them. I was just brainstorming. I’m hoping something can be done because while violent crime is going down on average, these incidents with mass casualties in public have been going up. Way up.

Can we make it harder to get assault rifles? Forget taking them away or outlawing them. What if there were more lengthy background checks involving psych evaluations, social media examinations and juvenile record sharing? Add in longer waiting times to receive them and heavily regulated gun shows. This will cost a lot so increase the price of assault weapons and their ammunition. Something needs to be done without taking guns away or banning them.

Over 600 billion on defense, more than the next 7 countries combined, just seems a little too high to me. Maybe throw 50 billion of that to teachers or infrastructure projects.
