The only thing I am claiming as fact, is that some of the people calling people idiots should look in the mirror. I'm at work, you even agreed that what was in the wiki was true. Forgive me for not finding peer-reviewed journal articles to make you happy.
From my experience on here, a lot of the internet crusaders can never admit when they're wrong. I said I'm one of the only ones who can. Take it for what you want, I believe that. Maybe I'll get proven wrong and change my belief with more experience on here.

Who could vote, who could get married, who could use what restaurants and facilities. The government had their hands on everything back then, and absolutely controlled what the family dynamic was supposed to do and be like. Spying and wiretapping are nothing new. What worries me the most now, is how they can compress and store vast amounts of information on us. They didn't have the capability to do that in the old days.

The Internet and smart phones are relatively new, people have access to a wealth of information for the first time at their fingertips. It doesn't take a genius to figure out the government doesn't like that.

People who spoke out, or were a threat to the government were taken out. The radio, newspapers and select few tv stations were much more edited and controlled by the system. We were experimented on and controlled much more than now. I'm in my 20s still, but I like to read. Do you think I care about your personality assessment of me? Gross generalizations and over-exaggerations are common around here, get used to it when I do it.I wasn't alive in the 60s or 70s. And if you think I'm not enjoying life or worried about tanks rolling down the street it just shows (once again) how ignorant you actually are about me and my positions. For someone who's been a long time lurker you sure didn't do a very good job paying attention to the personalities down here in the basement.

I would happily vote against things like citizens united and the patriot act, but that's not how it works is it? Like the new ISB thing. Are you protesting in your community, calling your reps or doing anything to prevent stuff like that? Raising awareness to 50-100 people on a politics board is really bringing about a lot of change.

Executive actions look nice but can easily be wiped away with a new president. Legislating is hard. I didn't think he could handle the job in the first place but I'm not rooting for him to fail.
