Two guys used to own the Spirits of St. Louis, a basketball team in the old ABA
When the ABA merged with the NBA in 1976, St. Louis was not invited. To head off a lawsuit, they settled with the NBA for one-seventh of the television money generated annually by each of the four surviving A.B.A. teams — the Nets, the San Antonio Spurs, the Indiana Pacers and the Denver Nuggets - FOREVER!!!
So far, that has generated them $255 million
Now, they're in court again, and they say that this also applies to the teams' share for television money generated overseas by the NBA, cable TV, NBA-TV, etc.
And it looks like they will win, and maybe get another $300 million
