This is amazing. If you didn't see it last night, Todd Frazier dove into the stands to catch a foul ball last night: https://www.mlb.com/news/todd-frazier-catches-foul-ball-in-stands/c-293232214 Except he didn't. On the pregame tonight they showed how when he dove into the stands he came out with a rubber ball in his glove and a fan had the real baseball. Wish I had video of the segment, maybe it'll get posted later. In the mean time if you look at the video above between the 10 and 16 second marks you can see a guy in a white Turner shirt pick up the real ball and hand it to a hottie with a Dodgers hat on backwards. At the 51 second mark you can see the ball underneath Frazier next to a green backpack as he's diving into the stands. Must've picked up the other ball off the ground before he got up.

Love the Toasted Lager. I got nervous when they partnered with Anheuser Busch, but it's still just as good. That along with Yuengling and Shiner Bock are my current go-to's.

Camden Yards was the model for most ball parks built ever since...including Citi Field, but not Yankee Stadium.. I had the good fortune to attend a game the inaugural season at Camden. Fun story, no clue if they still do it. If a fan caught a foul ball the stadium announcer would say "Give that fan a contract" and an usher would hand the fan a contract. After one or more of catches if a fan blew the catch the announcer would say "give that fan...an error!".

I saw frustration on his face after Rosario booted the ground ball. The error came after a 10+ pitch at bat. I think he was pissed that it cost him pitching into the 7th. Nevertheless he beared down and got out of it.

DeGrom's night: second straight game where he gave up only one run and knocked in the only run for his team while he was pitching. had as many hits as he gave up (2) This is sketchy because I was half paying attention and any of these 'facts' could be wrong, but 24 straight games where DeGrom has given up 3 or less earned runs, tying a record by Gooden and/or a record set around 1913. his ERA went down from 1.68 after tonights start

No, they actually went 4 wide...LF, LCF, RCF, RF. The overshifts we see with the 2b in short right is closer to the rover mentality.

Point well taken. Laughing at myself. Still..Stevie Nicks?

First time I tried a sip of beer I didn't understand why so many people liked beer at all. Years later I came to appreciate the virtues of beer, but as a newbie my taste tended to the bland. Favored the effect over the taste. Price point was a consideration as well. And then the craft beer movement started. I dabbled with brewing my own, my first foray into the non-bland. I liked what I brewed but there was still room in my world for the bland. Got older, drank more liquor and less beer and found that when I drank beer I wanted more than the bland. Along the way I determined that I detest IPA's and hoppy beers. Many beer connoiseurs love them, but it 's like drinking nails to me. My point: you should like what you like when you like it for the reasons that you like it regardless what others like or think you should like.

So I'm taking a stroll down Two Bills Drive this evening with Astros-Angels providing background audio/video and my ears perk up when they mention an Astro who hit a walk-off HR a few days ago against Jeurys Familia and another big late inning hit against Hansel Robles since.

This isn't that surprising but I don't remember ever seeing the 4 outfielder "softball" alignment in the majors. https://www.mlb.com/cut4/twins-use-four-outfielders-to-get-jose-ramirez-out/c-292637118

Nope. Wait until we're back home, let him get an ovation from the fans and send him back to the DL after the game

Which new wave band is your favorite?

Hate to hijack the New Wave thread, but bocce balls, you're right, mind blown! Amazing cross section of genres. -
Is the chuckle I need an edible? Augie - this is not a laughing matter - no wait, it is, everything seems funny right now- wait, what were we talking about? We should get some pop tarts - better yet, more chuckles!

Not sure who you had in mind but Adele's 21 sticks out as an example for me. WRT classifying the Cult as New Wave...that's a swing and a miss. -
The only explanation that makes any sense to me is it prevents him from accruing service time which potentially delays free agency. This article from a few years ago about a Reds prospect claims that it only makes sense to delay the promotion to the big leagues if you expect the guy to be on the major league roster early the next season. Oops forgot to add the link: https://redlegnation.com/2015/08/19/jesse-winker-september-call-ups-and-service-time/

Reggae too. -
Bollocks is one of the greatest albums of all time. It defined a genre. Not one that I'll ever forget.

This thread reminded me of Pee Wee Herman in Nice Dreams. 20 seconds in and after a couple of f-bombs: For the life of me I don't know what constitutes New Wave. To me it's more about what its not: punk, metal, pop and straight up rock. But if the Cars are New Wave, I'll go with them. -
An 18-game season with 16-game player limits?
SinceThe70s replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wonder if an 18 game season would dilute the playoff implications the last two weeks of the season. Of course they probably already thought of that...we'll need more playoff teams/games. -
I think Mets were paying him league minimum so anything they got was a bonus. Maybe it will free up roster space for your boy Borenstein when rosters expand.

Sisters of Mercy hits the nail on the head for me. I had "First and Last and Always" on vinyl way back when. Not sure how I stumbled into them, at the time I was listening to metal almost exclusively but I always thought that album was strong. I'll have to revisit to see if it stands the test of time.

...and there are only 7 games left in their season. I wonder if there's any insurance scenario where it's determined he's physically unable to play and insurance still pays out. Seems like there isn't and this whole "comeback attempt" is intended to make sure insurance continues to pay 75% until the contract runs out.

I just got home from the game. I actually gave the fam the option of leaving after the 8th but nobody bit. The final indignity was the Nat's pitcher getting hurt after the 2nd out in the bottom of the 9th and we had to wait while they carted him off the field. On the plus side, Matz looked great.
