I just feel like replay has become so overdone that I would rather live with the mistakes. I also think it would eliminate what I find to be the most annoying replays— the “did the ball move” catches? A “catch” is almost more discernible to see in real time than on slow mo replay.

I think replay is a necessary evil. The best fix to replay I've heard came from a poster who hasn't been around here for a few years. All replay reviews should be done at game speed, no slo-mo replays. The blatantly bad calls will get overturned and folks would have to learn to live with the marginal ones. As it stands now there are tons of Zapruder-ish reviews where nobody agrees with the final call anyway. BTW, I don't expect this idea would ever get any traction.

Years ago a Skankees fan did this against (I think) the Orioles. Obviously not a WS and likely not a playoff game, but he reached over the fence and caught the ball just as it was about to be caught. The umpires called it a HR. I don't remember if it was obvious if it would have landed in the field of play or as a HR if they didn't do that and if the outfielder didn't catch it. The fan was celebrated in NY as this gave the Skanks an important win. Pretty sure MLB changed the rule after that.

Can you imagine Belichick going to the Jets after the fiasco when they tried to hire him and all the crap he’s talked about Woody Johnson since?

Last week on the Manningcast he said something to the effect: I don't know what's up with the jets organization, it's like their philosophy is ready, fire, aim.

As he should be in trial.  He held the choke for over 3 minutes.  He didn’t know what he was doing and shouldn’t have done it.

If you can’t put the guy out in 5-7 seconds, you shouldn’t even attempt.

    Thanks, appreciate the perspective.

    I liked Tim Fugger.

I mean, imagine the announcer calls. Look at that fugger go. He is a fast fugger. Big fugger.   Etc. The whole Fugger family.

Not sure if this is a true story but in a Giants/Redskins game back in the day legendary stadium announcer Bob Sheppard called a tackle as:

    Sandwiched! By Hanburger and Bacon.

FTR that was Redskins Chris Hanburger and Coy Bacon.

Disappointed about last night but obviously can't be too down on the team.  Great year and great run.  Shed some demons along the way I feel: winning the big game late in Atlanta, beating the Phillies made up a bit for 2007 & 2008.

While the Stearns hire didn't excite me last year and I didn't like the Mendoza one additionally.....   they both did a great job last year.  I have a lot of optimism for the both of them moving forward.

I won't watch the Series but will still pull for the Dodgers.

Great year and great run for sure. Completely unexpected going into the season and even moreso after the horrible start. Still, I can't shake the feeling that it was a missed opportunity. But then I look at the run diferential against the Dodgers (46-26) and realize they were fortunate to make it as far as they did.

Anyone else’s college team losing and they need the Bills to win to make it an ok weekend? I didn’t specify my bad

Just the opposite for me. After witnessing my sons college teams win (Hokies and Terps) I'm looking for the trifecta. Gotta figure out how to get the Bills radio broadcast tomorrow as I'll be driving back home.

I was calm as well.  But for me I think it’s because the team exceeded my expectations for the year so much to really get down on them if they lost.  Although that would have been annoying to lose to the Phillies though.  Haha

Besides Grimace this was another one of those turning point moments I think this year.  When the team adopted the OMG slogan.  It seemed it was and is a great bonding  point.  And yeah seeing Mr and Mrs Met get down to the song is hilarious as well.  Great stuff

I hear ya, no doubt they've exceeded my expectations as well and that plays a big part. Beyond that, this team's resilience has been remarkable and that played a part too.

Todays win was reminiscent of the '86 series against the Astros. Two chances to win one game but with Mike Scott/Zack Wheeler on tap for the 2nd chance it felt like a must win.

I was uncharacteristically calm when the Mets blew chance after chance early in the game and then went down 1-0. Hats off to Suarez, what a great/gutty performance. And my uncharacteristic calm quickly turned to characteristic dread when Diaz couldn't find the strike zone. Watched the game with my just- turned-88 mom. Good times.
