Diamondbacks and Mets faltering when it matters most. I think for the Mets it comes down to winning 2 of 3. Anything less and they are cooked.
-
Mets win the tie-breaker against the D'backs - so if we get one more win than them today or tomorrow we're in. If we go even with the D'Backs today and tomorrow a split on Monday gets us in. If none of that happens we can still get in by sweeping the Braves

It's going to come down to the Mets needing to win two on Monday. Yikes.
-
@ExWNYer @Gugny @Another Fan I thought by now we'd have more clarity but Helene had other plans. Tuesdays loss didn't inspire confidence that we'd exorcise our Atlanta demons and there's a chance we can clinch a spot before Monday, but that's BS. It's gonna come down to winning either one or two against the boogeyman on Monday. Let's Go Mets!!!

Josh Allen vs Patrick Mahomes: The changing of the guard?

So in your world Trent Dilfer > Josh Allen? -
Loved that Exciter album!! Also liked the first Dwarfs album back when it came out, but didn't follow them any further.

LOL, I was thinking about my Iglesias comments over the weekend. I definitely expected him to tail off (law of averages), glad to be wrong! I like Mendoza too, but was definitely in wait-and-see mode. It was a big feather in his cap when he weathered the awful start to the season and kept the clubhouse together. And he's never been afraid to trust his gut. It backfired spectacularly with Ottavino on Friday, but I understood his thought process, On the flip side, getting two out of Diaz last night paid the hoped for dividends - I have to admit I wasn't sure about Diaz going two after going an inning plus the night before. Good times!

@ExWNYer @Another Fan @Gugny 7 games left, magic number is 6. I would've signed up for this in spring training. I was at the game on Friday - Good Lord was that bad. One of the few times that I left the stadium early. Ottavino went a third of an inning. His only out came when Castellanos had an automatic out due to the clock. Regardless, excellent bounceback win today = how you guys feeling? I expect we'll lose tomorrow night (Wheeler/Megill) and go into our house of horrors one up. Need to exorcise our Braves demons and win 2 of 3. Am I confident? No, not really - but looking forward to being proved wrong.

Have you ever quit following a sports team?

As a Mets fan who just got home after witnessing a God-awful loss a part of me envies you. -
Off topic since it's a 2025 show in my area but Zakk Sabbath looks savage. I saw a half hour instrumental set by Zakk Wylde a few years ago a third of which was devoted to a crushing/shredding version of N.I.B. Checked out the Zakk Sabbath setlist from June and it's right up my alley with some deeper tracks in favor of Paranoid or Iron Man.

Realistically, How many million $ do you really need?

I like the way you think. -
This is a clear indication that Josh has become a game manager. Good times.

Great story, thanks for sharing! There have been a few mind-boggling crossed paths n my life but one stands out. Around 10 -15 years ago we took a family trip to Alaska with my wife, her two brothers, their parents and all of our kids. Checking out of our hotel in Valdez (aka the middle of nowhere) my BIL struck up a conversation with a guy behind him also waiting to check out. They didn't know each other but as it turns out the guy had lived a block away from where my wifes family grew up. The timing of the encounter is stupefying to me.

Tyreek Hill apparently arrested this morning…

Only thing I question here is whether they had the right to park their car on a public street. Seems doubtful but I don't know the area. -
@ExWNYer @Gugny @Another Fan RIP Ed Kranepool. He was on every Mets roster from the inaugura season in 1962 until he retired in 1979.

I've been wondering the same about Vientos and first base. Also love that you're not putting the division out of reach. I've been keeping an eye on the Phillies but that still feels like a reach. Mets final 10 games are either an opportunity or a gauntlet depending on how you look at the glass of water.

@ExWNYer @Gugny @Another Fan Mets on a 9 game heater. Looking back on my last post "This isn't the time of year for moral victories" - what a difference a week+ makes. A few thoughts: - Vientos has become what I wanted (and still fadingly hope) Alvarez will become. The road he took to get where he is makes no sense to me. His glove is still suspect so I can't lock him into 3B. - it's been fun watching the starting pitching 'over-achieve'. More enjoyable than waiting for a $40 mill savior to get healthy - just saw that Diaz is 16/22 in save situations. Brutal, but I don't expect a change until after the 25 season. His upside is seductive. - McNeil out indefintely. Disappointing, I love what OMG-guy has done, just concerned if we have to rely on him at the plate

That's awesome that you had the pool custom designed fo dual purpose. Sounds great! I'm assuming you had an up-and-down ladder for your above. Those suck for sure. For our second above we added a deck and got the wedding cake steps. It's a vast improvement over the ladder but most years I have to brave frigid waters to take the steps out and when it comes time to tear the pool down I'll have to contend with taking down the deck too.
