I actually consider myself pretty stingy on my personal HOF votes.

One of my main rules is “if I have to think about it for more than a couple seconds, they likely don’t belong.

I think both of them belong.

I think the reason Wagner took so long is the same reason pitchers like deGrom (statistically superior, but not a lot of wins because their team sucked) never used to win the Cy Young … it took a while for voters to smarten up.

For closers, it’s similar to DHs. They don’t play dull games, so they didn’t get votes.

We’re seeing a shift, which is long overdue.

I think closers deserve consideration more than designated hitters.

The bolded mirrors my thinking. I'm probably biased against closers whose careers over-lapped with Mariano Rivera - which admittedly is unfair.

DH's are a different animal to me. Kind of like NFL special teamers, the bar is set much higher. Edgar Martinez and Big Papi were no doubters for me. Off the top of my head I can't think of anyone else.

Off topic, but talk of DH's reminded me of one of the greatest injustices ever: Rafael Palmeiro winning the Gold Glove in 1999 when he played 28 games at first and 128 at DH. Priceless.

    That's cool.

My real point is that a simple easy to verify rule in real time and on replay would be very easy to do if they were so inclined.  Evidently they're not for some unknown reason.

I think the NFL has no problem with the controversial plays. It's been going on since I've been watching and it's never affected the ratings or fan interest to my knowledge. The day it affects (or they think it affects) their bottom line is the day they start caring. The confusing/ambiguous rules are window dressing imo.

It depends on what we are doing. If I’m grilling wings, it’s definitely Franks. Perfect and easy. Texas Pete will do in a pinch. I had taco night this week while the wife was away, and that required some Cholula to amp up the Taco Bell hot sauce. Some things, like crab legs and Bloody Mary’s call for Tabasco for its unique flavor profile.

I think the answer for me is, it depends. I guess that’s why we have a hot sauce section in the fridge.

    .

100% - and I'll avoid making a bad joke about depends.

Cholula is a must-have for taco night. The question is which flavor. I like them all,  but I'd put green pepper at the pinnacle.

It’s a message board opinion homie. It’s not that serious, I promise

Not that serious? Then why not just capitulate and admit that "Do these guys think they can win when they step on the field?"  was indefensible when I called it out - or defend it if It's defensible?

For the record, IMO where you started with the Dawkins/Jones glad-handing before the game was decided was a reasonable topic.

I do feel bad for the people like my mother who were born in the late 60s or early 70s as Bills fans because they have never gotten to see any world title of any kind in their lifetime.

I mean I’m 39 turning 40 this year and I’m tired of watching them fail every year  especially now they I know they have a QB who can get them there.

At some point you would think we’d catch a break and I’m pretty level headed after the loss tbh

I was born early 60's and still waiting, but I'm also an out-of-towner so def not the same experience as locals.

Might sound like a broken record (remember those?) but I was thrilled when my sons took to the Bills - I never pushed it on them. We witnessed the drought-breaking TD by Boyd together and went nuts together.  When we drafted Josh they were high school and middle school and asked me if he'd be any good. I told them I had no idea but we got one of the four so I was happy.

When 13 seconds happened we were crushed and I told them that was their official indoctrination to Bills fandom. In the meantime their Mom felt left out and now is fully in with us. It sucks that we haven't made it to the top yet, they're all feeling the strain more and more each year especially wifey!

No regrets that I chose to be a Bills fan and happy as hell that my fam adopted them as well. Despite another disappointing end to the season I'm looking forward to next year!

    Go Bills!

The Bills’ best chance at the #1 seed is probably a hope that the AFC West continues to improve.  There are now four competent coaches in that division.  Kelce very well may retire this offseason which also helps.  But the Chiefs won’t stay idle and their pro personnel dept has been running circles around Beane’s for years now anyhow.

Ya know what's aggravating as hell? In 2020 the NFL added a wild card team and eliminated the bye for the #2 seed. We've been the #2 seed in 4/5 seasons since.

  7. Disagree. The difference between the Bills and Chiefs in the playoffs has been guys like Chris Jones and Karlaftis - guys who get after the passer. Mahomes didn't lose a beat after Tyreek Hill left.  Kelce and D-Hop were not difference makers tonight. Juju put up numbers - and is usually mocked around here. Hollins had nearly as many yards as the almighty Xavier Worthy. The Bills took a big swing with Von a few years ago and it didn't produce the expected results, but that's the type of impact player(s) we need.

That was an all time incredible play if Kincaid comes down with it which he probably should’ve

Second year in a row a Bills receiver didn't come down with a catchable ball in a critical situation against the Chiefs in the playoffs. IMO the throw was more difficult than the catch. Then again we saw Andrews miss a catchable ball last week. Sh!t happens.

  9. 3 minutes ago, Special K said:

would you not have taken that scenario before the game??

I know I would have.....and I would be expecting a TD drive to win it.

I bet that 8 times out of 10, the Bills would have at least gotten a FG in that situation, and maybe 4 out of 10 the Bills score a TD in that scenario.

That leaves a 2 out of 10 chance the Bills score no points in that scenario.......and unfortunately that is exactly what we got.

After the Bills D held the Chefs to that FG on the most important 1st and Goal situation of the season, I thought for sure the Bills would write the storybook ending we all hoped for, but it didn't happen.

Really feel defeated right now, because I don't feel that the game was taken away from the Bills, I think they had it in their hands and let it slip away.🤢

I'll go you one better. I would have signed up for that at half time when the only KC drive that didn't end with a TD was due to their botched RPO/handoff - just outside of the red zone.

But, the entire season whenever it has been 3rd and 1,2, or 4th and 1, and we didn't do this... the question has always been "Why not just tush push?!"

At any point had we done something else and it not worked, that same question would have been asked.

I'm all for doing the same thing over and over and over until the other team stops it. From what I saw, the Ravens started to make it look less than automatic and for sure tonight KC did. In the regular season Josh would make it a yard or more past the mark. Last week and tonight it wasn't the gimme it was regular season and actually got stopped.

I had no problem with that one, even though it ended up squirrelly.

Letting him plant and go right off the snap is a far superior option than asking him to move laterally first, imo.

I don't disagree, but where I was going was maybe they could have a short yardage play that isn't always "Josh go get it".

  12. 6 minutes ago, Simon said:

Yeah, they got entirely too reliant on it over the course of the year and never really developed anything to complement it.

Asking Josh to move laterally before he drives is not a viable variation.

At the risk of disparaging the fairer sex, even my wife was questioning why they kept going back to the same play. It just wasn't the automatic play that it was in the regular season. And when they mixed it up and Josh went over the top it was nearly a fumble.

The constant crying about referees is an embarrassment to the entire fanbase, imo.

Where I'll disagree is it's not just this fanbase - from what I've seen it's the majority of the football watching public. Was at a HS football game in the fall and less than 5 minutes into the game a guy sitting next to me was livid over the refs spotting the ball. And the plays weren't even first down or not spots. Folks are hyper focused on the refs.

I thought we should've gotten the first down call on review and looking back at the 3rd down play it never should have come down to it. But the bigger issue to me was the over-reliance on Josh on 4th and short when it was getting stuffed going back to last week so I get your point.

  14. The thought of KC winning another is nauseating and rooting for the Eagles has no appeal whatsoever. But I've watched every SB since I started watching football and this year will be no different. But I'll be most interested in the pools I'm in.

Being anxious for the game has me wondering, does anyone else have this sensation of acceptance?  As in, we are right here, right now. Whatever will be, will be.

We've all been here before. But I can't bring myself to worry of a heartbreak. For some reason I'm not concerned today.   We'll all be alright, because our destiny was written long ago.

Does your heart feel a strange calmness today?

    100%

At the same time I know that by around 10 PM I'll either be floating on cloud 9 or completely dejected.
