Just saw this one celebrating Chiefs no longer being undefeated: Larry Csonka
-
I heard today that the rounds are only two minutes long and they're using bigger gloves that are typically used for sparring. Also heard a cynical take from a radio guy saying that it will go all 8 rounds because that's what Tyson, Paul and the promoters want. Guys like me who back in the day watched Tyson obliterate everyone in his path want to see a first round knockout. I stopped watching boxing years ago when it became obvious the outcomes were pre-determined, I'll probably watch tomorrow but I expect to be disapponted.

I'm a casual listener, almost exclusively drive time, I go through spurts where I'll either tune in every day or not at all for a while. My guilty pleasure is tuning in for the Jets drama - the day after a bad loss is outstanding. Evan's passion is great, but I liked Carton more when he was with the buttoned down Boomer. The two that I can't stand are Sal and BT, they're a clown show and I don't think I get any insight from them that I couldn't get from a drunk at the local bar. I'll keep my ears perked for Steve from Clifton! -

You call in to NYC radio? Oof. Please don't tell me that you're Jerome. Kidding aside, who do you call into...and should I keep my ear out for JerseyBills from Hopcatong? -

Speculation that Jones was extended due to ownership vs. management is based in large part on the bolded IMO. Another interesting aspect to the Giants drama is Daboll. He came in full of confidence and guns blazing - he publically beratedJones on the sidelines after a bad play a game or two into his first year - and then things got better. But he seems to have lost his swagger. Losing in this market can do it that you, but maybe with Jones he feels it's out of his control. Bottom line for me me is Jets and Giants are a mess and although the Bills still need to get over the hump living in the Jets/Giants marketplace has been a lot more enjoyable the past few years. -

I'm not aware of any connection between Eli and Jones, but would be interested to hear. If there was a Mara/Jones connections the local media would be all over that so I'm skeptical. The local speculation I had heard was wrt Jets owner and a connection to Zach Wilson. As I recall it was a tenuous connection. -
Don't make us move this to PPP.

Reminds me of Jim Plunkett. Both came in to the league with high expectations and both won two Super Bowls. -

There have been under currents in the local media suggesting that's what happened. -

NFL officiating is broken. How do we fix it?
SinceThe70s replied to Logic's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think replay is a necessary evil. The best fix to replay I've heard came from a poster who hasn't been around here for a few years. All replay reviews should be done at game speed, no slo-mo replays. The blatantly bad calls will get overturned and folks would have to learn to live with the marginal ones. As it stands now there are tons of Zapruder-ish reviews where nobody agrees with the final call anyway. BTW, I don't expect this idea would ever get any traction. -

Sears was my go-to growing up. They'd devote a few pages to NFL gear. I ended up with a a few jerseys of different teams (I wanted all of them) but the prize possession was the Bills jacket.

Last week on the Manningcast he said something to the effect: I don't know what's up with the jets organization, it's like their philosophy is ready, fire, aim.

Thanks, appreciate the perspective.

2024 New York Yankees..........on to the World Series for 41st time
SinceThe70s replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in Off the Wall
I heard on WFAN that 6 out of 7 home plate umps for the WS are considered to be either hitter friendly or extremely hitter friendly. Supposedly YES shows this info before each game - any of you Crankee fans see that? Sounds like great pre-game info. -

Famed Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda was once asked what Mexican-born pitching sensation Fernando Valenzuela would ask for in his upcoming contract negotiations. Replied Lasorda: "He wants Texas back."
