One word: relax.

I keep on hearing the narrative that Allen shouldn’t start because of A) he needs to learn and develop or B) he will get injured early in the season against the toughest part of our schedule. What I haven’t heard is why he should start. To me the reason you start Allen is A) he needs to learn on the field, B) there is no empirical evidence saying it’s better to sit or start your rookie QB. Also from a strategic perspective isn’t it wise to play Allen earlier assuming he does suffer a season ending injury? That would give him more time to heal.

If you can’t throw a simple 5 yard out or hitch you can only have limited success in the NFL. The ball cant hang up in the air. It needs to be thrown faster. Furthermore if he lacks velocity he needs to throw it earlier with some anticipation and placement so the corner doesn’t get a beat on it. A first team CB takes that back for 6.

Those sideline throws scare me. The velocity is slow. In the NFL you have to make those throws.

Lots of emphasis on who the QB is but I’m most concerned about the OLine.

Big mistake not running on 2nd & 2. We take a sack then a 5 yard false start. Most rookie QBs need short down & distance. The OL false starting is killing us. Allen can’t be expected to always convert 3rd & long.
