Yes. The same reason we drafted Allen. Power. Either you can throw & kick the crap out of the ball, or you are weak and the wind owns you. Good kickers can manage the wind like a good QB can. This is the NFL. No excuses.
Lamar similar to Vick but is a better passer.
Allen similar to Newton but is a better passer.
Vick and Newton likely won’t make the HOF.
Lamar & Allen are on pace to make it.
Joe knows basic math. Did he also say we are paying Diggs more than all other WRs combine? I mean, it’s called retooling. No issue with moving on from Diggs.
The Bills are out to prove something in 2024. Out to prove they are more than a Diggs led offense. Out to prove they can win without Poyer & Hyde leading the defense. Out to prove they can out coach the best coaches. Out to prove they are not a turnover machine. Strap up.
2020: Defense given 9-0 lead goes on to give up 38 points after 1st Qtr.
2021: Defense given 36-33 lead with 13 seconds to go. Couldn’t defend 40 yards of field.
2022: Damar Hamlin / Blizzards / emotionally drained team / Defense decimated by injuries
2023: Tyler Bass / AJ Klein / Defense decimated by injuries
If I’m ranking these QBs and cherry picking stats I rank Allen at #4 based on FG kicker alone.
Career Playoff FGs
#1 Burrow-McPherson 19/19
#2 Mahomes-Butker 32/36
#3 Lamar-Tucker 18/22
#4 Allen-Bass 12/17
Tyler Norwood is back in time for the windy season. Weaker leg whose ball speed is in the bottom 25% of kickers. You need a powerful leg to kick in Buffalo. Logic said we needed a strong armed QB for those same conditions.
Bills down 20-22 9 seconds at the Jets 29 yard line no time outs left. Does McDermott trot out Tyler Norwood to attempt a 47 yard field goal? Or does he run a quick pass to the boundary to pickup 7-10 yards?
That was a good deal, buy low sell high. B/n Bledsoe & Cassel Pats got great draft capital. Jimmy G was a 2nd rounder, and reports at the time were he was the heir apparent.
