Even if cleared by the medical team, you preferably want to give his brain a 21 day rest over a 7 day rest. If cleared I’d suit him up, make the Titans prepare for him, and go with Barkley. Do you think given his style of play he’s going to play drastically safer? What we know about concussions is they are easier to reoccur once you have them. We don’t fully understand the science but the Bills Org should place his long term health over trying to win one game that Barkley should be capable of winning.

Thoughts on mahomes(?) and allen
Dr.Sack replied to Lafromboise's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In all fairness to Mahomes the Bills traded back with KC to acquire the draft capital to acquire Allen & trade up for Edmunds. So it’s obvious Allen + Edmunds > Mahomes in the eyes of Beane & McD. -
They schemed it up good, they knew we’d be in man coverage. Only thing I disagree with defensively is anticipate this play you either run a cover 2 zone with one deep, and a spy rover in the short middle, or simply play a DIME, 4 rushers, 1 linebacker, 4 corners 2 safeties, where the LB sits in the middle and shades coverage over to the side where the pick is coming. If timed good enough the WR gets leveled or you break on the pass and get a pick 6.

Allen needs to take what the defense is giving him and that entails checking down to the RB. Pats played without Hightower and we just needed more positive plays on 1st and 2nd down to avoid 3rd and long. Allen will improve but the question is why wasn’t this noted before halftime - getting Yeldon & Gore out into the flat?
-
Would like to a see a proset formation with two backs in the backfield where they use Gore in a RPO shotgun fake handoff and flood Yeldon out the backside wheel route. That kind of motion would make the Patriots commit to the run and open up the RB in the flat over a crossing WR route or the TE down the seam.

This game won’t be easy with either QB starting. Let’s be real we aren’t a dynamic offense. My thinking is Allen is cleared to play, dresses and is listed as the backup. If Barkley goes down they bring in Allen and mostly hand the ball off. This is a game where you want to throw the ball as little as possible. It’s going to be won in the trenches. Mariotta is a very capable QB who can run with the ball, so it will be important for Milano & Edmunds to spy on him.

Have You Started To Lose Faith in Josh Allen?
Dr.Sack replied to Phil The Thrill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In all fairness Allen is 23. When Brady was 23 he was a rookie riding the pine learning from Drew Bledsoe. Allen has a lot of improvements to make but I wouldn’t give up on him over one poor performance. If he cuts down on the bonehead TOs he may even turn into a decent QB. -

Josh is horrible on long throws all 4 games
Dr.Sack replied to Artem Lipatov's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Allen makes stupid throws into double coverage. He doesn’t protect the football when scrambling or in the pocket. He plays loose and I suppose that’s good, but this haphazard ball security is not acceptable in the NFL. He needs to protect the football. Allen claimed to have watched a ton of Brady film, did he not note that Brady always guns the ball at WRs feet if the play is busted? -
I want to rewatch the game but I have a feeling it will make me more pissed.

Can Sean become a great game-day coach?

McD needs to get Allen to not throw into double coverage so much. -

I’m starting to come across the word dumb more and more when people talk about Josh Allen’s game. He’s reckless at times but I think he will learn and play smarter. -
Allen really needs to improve those mental mistakes and unforced errors. He needs to protect the football. For comparative sake Allen has thrown picks on 18 of his 451 career attempts. Kaepernick threw 30 on 1692 career attempts. If Allen keeps up this pick rate he will have 68 picks at 1692 attempts. Brady has thrown 172 picks on 9,520 attempts. If Allen would reached 9,520 attempts at his rate he’d have 380 picks at Brady’s attempts. Aaron Rodgers is even more amazing, 81 picks on 5,638 attempts, Allen would be at 225 picks. The boneheaded interceptions make coaches stay up at night and let down the defense. They are unforced errors and I believe McDermott will only tolerate these horrible decisions for so long.

Hard to throw the ball when you are throwing off your back foot. -
Zay Jones blocking ability - I’m impressed

Good point, I’m sure Daboll & WRs coaches stress down field blocking when they see Allen take off. -
Josh Allen Failed His First Big Test

It was recovered by the OL as was a Barkley fumble. I’m against the hit but Beasley didn’t block the hitter who leveled Allen as he was going down. Protect your QB don’t stand and watch. -

We aren’t paying him to be a part time player. He needs to fall in line and improve his contribution. That includes blocking. -

Allen played his worst game of the year against a great defense. You can’t throw 3 picks in an NFL game and expect to win. He also fumbled. The sack on 3rd down helped attribute to the kick just going wide left. He makes careless errors and in big games you lose. Brady has built a career off of taking the easy check down. There were plenty of open check downs and Allen simply doesn’t look for them enough. -
We gave up 10 points on D. That’s a good feat. The turnovers and blocked punt were our downfall. The only thing I care about is competency & our O & ST blew it. Also no one is talking about the FG miss at the end of the 1st half and the 5 yard sack the play before. That was huge.

If you are tough enough to play the slot you must be tough enough to block. This on Beasley. Everyone must up their game. -

Pats radio guys said after Allen’s 3rd pick “he’s made some of the DUMBEST throws they’ve EVER witnessed.” When you think of Allen does the word dumb come to mind? I can’t wait till week 16.
