I grew up with the Bills. My father, uncles, cousins have had season tickets since the mid 60's at the Rockpile. I have been going to games since I was 5 years old in 1977. The first game I remember was a game against San Diego in 1976 and listening to it on the radio. The first game I went to was the home opener in 1977 against Miami. I haven't missed any since. I remember going to Training Camp at Niagara University and then Fredonia every year. I started going on a road trip a season in 1989. Bills have always been here and I have always been a fan.

It's still ugly in Buffalo today. 92 degrees at 2pm. High humidity today as well. Never got below 80 last night. Power companies are now reporting scattered power outages due to the high demand for AC. My swimming pool was 86 at 10pm last night. 88 this afternoon. Better off just taking a cold shower. Thank God for Central Air.

Bills at Pats, ESPN night game predictions
kasper13 replied to smokinandjokin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is there some sort of prize for the closest guess? I say Bills win 5-2 in a blizzard on a 68 yard wind aided FG by Tom Dempsey who came out of retirement earlier in the week after the Bills cut Rian Lindell for missing 7 FG's and 4 PAT's the week before. -
Kids baseball team suspended for being good
kasper13 replied to VABills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Back in my Little League days, the first team I was on went 0-16. I don't think we came within 10 runs of winning a game. We learned how to lose. Two years later we beat the snot out of every team in the league and won the Championship. Nowadays, people are so intent on protecting the kids, the kids grow up to be sissies (and worse). How do you penalize a team for being good? The whole point of sports is to win (and lose) and do it with some class. They have leagues now for 8 and 9 year olds where there is a pitching machine, everyone hits every inning and they do not keep score. WTMF is that all about? Why even bother? How does anyone learn anything? If the adults just left the games to the kids, crap like this wouldn't happen. If a kid stinks at baseball, teach him how to play or send him to the soccer field. -
I think alot of people already had JR's idea and are planning on staying home once the NHL does come back. I think that the NHL and the players have no clue as to the damage done by missing a whole season. I also think that they had no clue as to how bad the game had become before the lockout. That's just another massive slap in the face to the people that pay for the frickin players salaries in the first place- the fans. The players are spoiled and are in for a rude awakening once and for all when they are playing in arenas that are not even a quarter full. The league is still going to lose massive amounts of money with a salary cap of $36 million and no TV contract. Where is the bulk of revenue still going to have to come from? Ticket sales. Prices will not be lowered and other than Detroit and Toronto, the fans are going to save their money and stay home. The only way I would pay to see a NHL game is if the tickets were $5 or less. It wasn't worth it before the lockout. How can it be worth it to pay big bucks to see an NHL game after the lockout is over? What changed exactly?

Hottest June 27th in Buffalo History. 95 degrees at 3pm. It's also the 5th hottest day of all-time in Buffalo weather history. Hottest was 99 degrees on August 27th, 1986.

They are just not available yet. They will be when individual tickets go on sale but no date has been announced yet. Not too many people buy Preseason tickets at full price. You can usually get them at a discount from a scalper or people selling extras around the stadium before the game. If the Packers Game is Kids Night, you buy one ticket at full price and the kids tickets are $7 bucks. The Kids Night game sold out last year so your best bet for that is probably buying them when tickets go on sale.

Guess who's in the July '05 Stuff mag.?

Those pictures look like her head superimposed on someone else's body with a large dose of airbrushing. Anyways, Paul Pfeiffer was spotted at the local Wal-Mart buying an industrial size bottle of hand lotion and 50 boxes of tissues. -

Tim Rigas only got 20 years and John Rigas got 15. Max was 215 years each. Tim was the "Brains" behind the operation and he only got 20 lousy years for 18 felony convictions. Ridiculous. The old man will get out within two years if he is near death. They also made a deal and surrendered 95% of their assets to appease Adelphia shareholders. If you steal three billion dollars and give back 95%, how much do you still have left? Only $150 million. How will the rest of the family survive on $150 million that wasn't their money to begin with?

80 year old Adelphia founder & looter John Rigas Sr. was just sentenced to 15 years in prison. Tim Rigas will be sentenced later this afternoon. Johnny was looking at a 215 year sentence so he got off easy. I think Timmy will get at least 50 years.

That means six years ago tonight, I was at the game. I was not aware of a big controversey, went to a bar on Chippewa, got drunk off my behind after the loss and finding out why and then proceeded to get thrown out of not one, not two but three bars (Two owned by friends of mine- first and only time I was ever tossed from a bar). Seems like forever ago. On a brighter note, the Rigases are to be sentenced to prison time at any moment.

I looked into it just to see what's going on in the concert scene. Cheapest I saw on a Ticket Agency website (robstickets.com) for 7/30/05 was General Admission for $100.00 each + 6.50 each in fees for a total of $213.00. That's $85 more than if you went through Ticketmaster but since it's sold out, the only other option would be a scalper or try craigslist.org on the main page click on New York and then under "For Sale" click on tickets and enter DMB in the search bar and then look through the ads. You may get lucky.

Citizen's Bank did the same thing in Lancaster, NY at the Sunoco on the corner of William & Transit and also in Kenmore, NY. I only had to wait 20 minutes and got the same deal those of you in Rochester did. $20 worth of free gas, a travel mug and map but I also got 2 free tickets to Holland Speedway for the NASCAR Busch AutoPark 150. A $58.00 Value. Also got a bunch of coupons and a NASCAR sticker. Too bad I hate NASCAR. Citizen's Bank must have spent a truckload of cash on this promotion. It was even advertised on the radio. The line was at least a quarter mile long as I was coming back the other way at 12:15. I bet they turned away hundreds of people.

Ticket Agencies are a giant scam. There is one big database for tickets and every ticket agency lists the same tickets at HUGE markups. The only difference is the appearance of the website. What concert and where?

What they are saying about Buffalo
kasper13 replied to BILLS02138's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What they left out is that the Erie County Legislature just raised the Sales Tax to 8.25% to cover part of their gross mismanagement of Government and that the County Executive is already pushing a minimum 40% increase or in property taxes for 2006. -
I hope Baltimore gives him a $50 million bonus and F's up their cap for years to come. Lewis is among the better LB's in the league but he is certainly overrated and at 30 years old will be done well before that contract would be up. He certainly doesn't deserve a $50 million bonus (Hell, nobody deserves that much).

Steroids and a personal appearance by Jose Canseco. Teach how to shoot up right and bulk em' up now for next season and they can just stomp the umps into the dirt.

Good point. There was a draft after the 2003/04 season. Who knows what they will do? Larry Quinn even mentioning the words NHL, TV Contract and $400 million dollars in the same sentence is absurd. Hockey is hockey. There is only so much they can do to make it like it used to be. It will still be a lousy sport for TV unless you are used to watching it. The national TV ratings were always beyond lousy and unless they do the following they always will be lousy. Here is my 5 point plan to increase the appeal of hockey on TV. 1. Get rid of helmets. Fans will be able to identify the players more easily. 2. Make fighting a 2 minute penalty, get rid of the instigator rule, make bench clearing brawls legal again. 3. Put the games on HBO and wire up the whole rink. Have the players, coaches and refs miked and do not censor anything. 4. Make gambling on hockey legal in all 50 States and Canada. Games can be bet over the internet with any sportsbook in Vegas. 5. Put some naked broads in there somwhere.

Then he will go in the Todd Collins, Billy Joe Hobert, Rob Johnson, Doug Flutie, Drew Bledsoe pile.

I already have that one on Beta. Keep it right next to my Beta copy of Wrestlemania III.

I don't think anything is official yet but the lottery system would be the fairest since there wasn't a season last year. Sabres would have higher odds than non-playoff teams from the last completed season, if it's in fact, a weighted system. With a salary cap, the Sabres could actually afford Crosby as well but I think it would be rigged for the Rangers to get him. Did anyone else see the Sabres/Larry Quinn article in the Buffalo News this week? He seems to think the NHL will get a $400 milion/6 year TV contract from someone. That's beyond insane thinking. That shows how clueless the people running the league are.

The Shield - My weekly pimping of the best show
kasper13 replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great, Great show last night. Only two problems are that it's only an hour long and that next week is the season finale. If I were writing the show, the Captain would murder Aceveda. Her fate is sealed as she capped him in front of a whole bunch of people and she goes to jail instead of Antoine. Meanwhile, Vic & the Boys would take care of Antoine before he could get out of town and of course, they get away with it. "Rescue Me" starts the following week same night & time as "The Shield". -
I say we get together a bunch of people, head to Dallas and "rescue" the white Buffalo. It could be our new mascot patrolling the sidelines at every Bills Home Game.
